Tue – School. Took Ivan to dental clinic. Met Elaine’s Don. Brought Elaine home. Stopped at store. Went to Claber’s. Elaine took Greg & got milk. Carol & Jim came. We went looking at drapery material.

Wed- School. Called Marion. Took shower. Straightened. Took Harry to dental clinic. Waited for Elaine (too late to go to Dr. Siegel). Home late. Rain storm.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Called Eleanor. Grace & Elaine called. Washed car. Called Daily News about PTO meeting. Bill changed oil on Plymouth. Visited Mrs. Iames.

Fri – School. Went to store. Made cake. Cleaned kitchen & living room. Duq. Light put transformer on pole. Kids got report cards. Turned cold. Dave went to State College in Chrysler.

Sat – Stan went shopping for Hydro supplies. Washed clothes. Both went to dentist. Fixed early supper. Stan & I sent to Carol’s. Drove to her new house. Measured windows.

Sun – Slept late. Cool. No Sunday paper. Bill took kids to practice & Julie to birthday party (Collette Cassinelli). Stan worked at shop. Called Mary & Elaine. Watched TV.

1975

Tue – School. Went to town about food stamps. Went shopping. Picked up Ivan. Went to Pitt Dental clinic. Home. Made lasagna. Sprayed prune stuff on trees.

Wed – School. Nice day. Went to bank & store. Worked outside. Eleanor came out. Visited. Called Helen about Cas. Went to school. Marion called about helping her mother.

Thu – School. Snow flurries & wind. Washed clothes. Mended. Baked cake with peanut butter icing. Took Ivan & Julie to store. Got things for Elaine’s birthday. Carol called.

Fri – School. Sent Frank to look for job. Made Elaine’s pot holders & apron. Julie went to birthday party at Collette’s. Typed versus for Elaine’s 21^st birthday.

Sat – Stan took Greg for SAT test. Cold. Called about books about Asimov. Washed clothes. Cleaned kitchen, bath, living room, etc. Took Harry to practice (cancelled). Went to store. Left house. Met Elaine & Dottie Went to Steak House.

Sun – Had bad sleep. Read paper. Stan went to shop. Made banana cream pie. Kids finished movie film. Worked on CL. Tech journals. Kids got baths.

Thu – School. Colder. Went to work. Stan’s car wouldn’t start. Ivan fixed supper. Got Stan. Marion called.

Fri – School. Worked. Went to Jean’s for lunch. Stan went to see about food stamps. Fixed quick supper. Frank cleaned. Went to bank (food stamps) & store.

Sat – Nice day. Washed clothes. Harry drove to Siegel’s to get glasses. (He & Greg). Made soup & Ham Bar BQ. Went to Murphy Mart. Ripped out Harry’s sweater again.

Sun – Baked cake. Made meat loaf & fried chicken. Carol came – had lunch & visited. Kids got baths. Put up Julie’s hair. Knitted & watched TV.

Mon – School. Worked. Frank washed 2 loads & swept & mopped. Robin Hatfield came back to work. Tired. Dave cooked.

Tue – School. Worked at T’s. Greg drove to play practice. Stopped at store. Heated meat loaf & potatoes. Marion called.

Wed – School. Worked at T. Washed 2 loads of clothes. Fixed potatoes for tomorrow. Robin, Bruce H & Bill came out. Had new car. Dave had made chop suey & fruit dumplings. Frank cut grass.

1977

Fri – School. Cleaned house. Went to store & K-Mart. Made stew. Greg home late & Harry had game. Washed clothes in evening.

Sat – Rain. Spent day cleaning & sorting things in Julie’s room. Had 5 bags of stuff + 3 of rubbish. Kids played Lego. Julie got “Shrink-e-dinks”. Watched Carol Burnett special.

Sun – Up early. Did a load of clothes. Crocheted sleeves to Elaine’s top. Took clothes to Salvation Army thing & went to store. Made banana cream dessert & lemon chicken. Dave came for supper.

Mon – School. Washed clothes (4 big loads). Called Mary. Swept & mopped. Went to store. Changed sheets. Frank & Dave came. Both ate. Watched “American Families” on TV.

Tue – School. Marion called. Made spaghetti sauce. Greg home – tired. Took Ivan to Pitt Dental school. Went to store & Operatunity Shop. Sewed Elaine’s top together.

Wed – School. Marion called. Finished Elaine’s top. Made stuffing & fixed turkey. Changed to Electric Roaster. Metropolitan Ins. Man came. Stan started work on hall floor.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Stan varnished hall. Went to store. Made Russian torte. Rain & cold. Dave stopped for supper. Harry brought girlfriend here. They played ping pong. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs”.

1978

Sat – Nice but windy. Stan went to work. Harry had double header. Julie had oboe lesson. Went to bank, milk store & store. Made chop suey. Bill & Carolyn came. Washed clothes.

Sun – Cooler. Read paper. Called Marion. Baked cake & pork roast. Fellows cleaned out sewage & back filled. Kids cleaned cars. Went to Iames to hear Julie play.

Mon – School. Rain. Washed clothes. Got call from school. Ivan cut finger. Greg brought car from work. Took Ivan to Jefferson Center. Changed sheets. Called Marion & Mary. Bill & Carolyn came. Left BMW.

Tue – School. Stan went to West Virginia. Took Julie to Pitt Dental. Ate at Hardees. Went to store & milk store. Made baked beans & hamburgers. Rain. Went to Murphy’s Mart. Bill & Carolyn came to get car (BMW).

Wed – School. Wrote brother Bill. Frank went to town to see about Tech school. Made cream puffs. Called Marion. Bill came with LeCar. Julie & I went to see Mrs. Lorenzi at Jefferson.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Called Mrs. O. Cut out top. Had steak & fr. fries. Sewed – had to change needle. Watched TV.

Fri – School. Sewed new top for me. Cleaned house. Beautiful day. Mr. McCall called. Stan, Julie & I went to Carol’s house. She worked on tax forms. Home late.

March 25 - March 31, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – School. Took Ivan to dentist. Had 5 teeth pulled. He stayed home. Made chicken. Watched TV.

Tue – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Took Greg to work. Left car to get fixed for inspection. Stan went about changing title of Plymouth.

Wed- School. Straightened house. Took Harry to dental clinic. Went to A&P and read in car. Picked up my car & took Chrysler for inspection.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Electric off about 2 ½ hr. Went to store. Made sausage casserole. Julie went to brownies. Ivan, Julie, Stan & I went to 6^th grade concert.

Fri – School. Went to bank & store. Fixed lunch. Cleaned up. Grace called. Made Boston cream pie. Julie & I died eggs. Harry went to shop to help paint.

Sat – Cleaned kitchen & bath. Washed clothes. Went to store. Cleaned living room. Went to Iames. Worked on puzzle. Called Carol.

Sun – Finished Mrs. Iames puzzle. Harry & Ivan took bike ride to South Park. Called Marion & Elaine. Made apple pizza and meat loaf. Stan & Dan went bowling. Kids got baths. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs”.

1975

Tue – School. Bad cold. Went to Meders & to store. Sewed covers for tops of chairs (dining) & covered pillows. Marion called. Watched TV. Boiled Julie’s eggs for school.

Wed – School. Had bad cold. Made dough for nut rolls. Made cookies, cake & nut rolls. Took some to night school. Priscilla came & worked on income tax with Stan.

Thu – Washed clothes. Drained over the hill. Frank came home at lunch time. Put leaf in table. Called Elaine & Stella.

Fri – No school. Set up other bed. Cleaned. Helped Julie clean her room. Took kids to library & museum. They went to Elaine’s. Harry had practice. Went to store. Just I & me for supper. Don brought kids home.

Sat – Kids cleaned. Washed clothes. Dyed eggs. Made potato salad. Bill H. stopped out. Stan & I went to store. Watched “Ten Commandments” Part I on TV.

Sun – Easter. Cold & snowy. Hunted for basket (for us). Kids found theirs. Had ham, potato salad & chicken soup. Elaine & Don stopped out. Transplanted tomato plants. Watched “Ten Commandments”.

Mon – No school. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Cleaned kids bedroom upstairs. Went to K-Mart. Fixed supper. Pruned trees. Dan Arico came.

1976

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Mrs. Buzek called. Iced cake. Took Frank to Dr. Went to see about job. Stan & I went to hospital to see Pap.

Fri – School. Up early. Showered, etc. Went to work for 1^st day at Tumacs. Made 2 boat covers. Dave cooked supper. Went to store. Very tired. Marion called. Went to bed early.

Sat – Windy, rain – turned cooler. Washed clothes. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Called Elaine (Didn’t get job.) Made ice tea & juice.

Sun – Nice day. Went to store. Made cherry cobbler & stuffed chicken. Picked over chicken. Made waffles (lunch). Watched last episode “Upstairs, Downstairs”. Knitted Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Went to work. Long day. Frank tried to wash clothes. Did all the sheets. Took them out of dryer half wet. Had to re-dry & make beds. Very tired.

Tue – School. Went early to work. Stan took Ivan to dental clinic. Frank had physical (VRC). Had creamed chicken. Took shower & washed hair. Dave took Julie to library.

Wed – School. Went to work early. Rain. Stopped at store. Washed load of clothes. Stan went back to shop – took Frank to help. Dave made chili & snacking cake for supper.

1977

Fri – School. Sewed buttons on Julie’s outfit. Mended. Cleaned house. Took Ivan to get chain for motor bike. Greg went to bank & for pizza. Julie went to Valley for cartoons. Washed clothes.

Sat – They turned off electricity (not quite 1 hr.). Transplanted seedlings. Went to store. Greg got sport glasses from Siegel’s. Read & crocheted.

Sun – Nice day. Stan went with Dave to shop. Mary came out with Mrs. Gromsek & Lucy. Baked cake & made roast. Kids got baths. Watched TV.

Mon – School. Light rain. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Cleaned upstairs. Went to bank & store. Crocheted & wrote checks. No girl scouts.

Tue – School. Nice day. Called Carol. Baked pies – cherry, apple & lemon sponge. Answered phone about Dave’s ad. Went for milk. Picked up Frank. Had stew. Got Julie from Lori. Dave stopped.

Wed – School. Hot. Planted peas & onions. Crocheted. Took apart the back of Elaine’s top. Went to Murphy Mart. Ordered wall paper. Made lasagna. Washed clothes.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Changed my sheets & Julie’s. Crocheted. Stan worked at shop with Dave. Had steak. Frank came for supper. Ivan saw “Romeo & Juliet”. Watched TV.

1978

Sat – Busy. Rain. Washed clothes. Cooked eggs & potatoes. Made Russian torte & cake. Teacher came for Julie’s lesson. Kids dyed eggs. Made potato salad. Did clues for baskets. Iced cake. Turned cold. Frank got GED diploma.

Sun – Easter. Ivan hid Julie’s basket. Ivan last basket. Read paper. Had potato salad, ham, etc. Dave came. Took Julie to show “Casey’s Shadow”. Watched TV.

Mon – Gray day. Stan took Frank to Braddock School (snow make-up). Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Changed sheets. Called Mary. Had ham & made ham salad. Went to milk store & store.

Tue – School. Called Marion. Stan took Frank. Wrote Elaine. Cut out & sewed slacks. Called Bill H. at hospital. Elaine called. Fixed chicken. Harry took Volvo wiper motor to Bill.

Wed – School. Nice day. Called Eleanor. Washed front window. Made cherry turnovers & pies. Made stew. Bill stopped – had Volvo wiper motor. Julie & I went to concert. Maxence Larrieu – flutist. Very good.

Thu – School. Dave couldn’t get car started. Stan used jumpers. Greg brought Dave here. I drove Greg to work. Washed clothes. Took Dave to get his car. Stopped at store. Watched TV.

Thu – School. Up early. Put clothes on to wash. Grace P. came. Stayed for breakfast & lunch. Julie brought Debbie home. Had steak. Julie had Brownies. Julie sold key chains.

Fri – School. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen. Grace called. Worked on eggs. Painted them. Stan worked at shop. Neighbor kids here to see home movies.

Sat – Washed clothes. Straightened living room. Stan & I drove to Carol’s to see Plymouth wagon. Made sweet sour pork (tough). Dave went to concert. Went to K-Mart. Dave took Elaine’s clothes back.

Tue – School. Called Eleanor. Pruned tree in front. Stan went to Latrobe. Took Ivan to Pitt Dental. Tried to prune trees in back. Did homework.

Wed – School. Did 1 load wash. Stan signed up & worked on dining room chairs. Stuffed turkey. Read Newsweek. Tried to get Greg (rain). Car wouldn’t go right. Went to school. Got gas.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Pruned trees. Mended. Marion called. Dan Arico came. Elaine & Don came. Elaine washed clothes. Talked.

Fri – School. Called Frances Crain. Made cherry & blueberry pies. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Picked Greg up from tennis. Julie went to PTO card party. Cleaned living room & dining room.

Sat – Kids cleaned. Washed clothes. Harry had ball practice. Hurt wrist. Stan took Julie & Ivan skating at Rostraver. Went to store. Watched TV. Typed return letter to Frank.

Sun – Cold. Read paper. Harry took Volvo to Bill’s. Got timed. Kids worked on brakes & washed it. Typed Julie’s poems. Baked cake. Stan called Caroline. He worked on experiment.

Mon – School. Julie home sick. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Dug garden & planted peas. Fixed front yard & planted seed. Went to store. Got dog food – Mrs. Iames. Tired.

Tue – School. Julie still home. Greg found wallet & driver’s license. Pruned grapes. Windy & then rain. Baked toll house. Called Bill H. & Marion at hospital. Got Dave at Speir’s & took to work. Went to store & left Subaru at Ponderosa. Called Grace Pavelko.

Wed- School. Called Marion. Dave took car. Washed hair. Cut out dress & apron. Made chop suey. Started to sew.

Thu – School. Dave took car. Washed clothes. Sewed dress. Watched channel 13 for “Upstairs, Downstairs”. Frank went to football thing – got jacket.

Fri – School. Drove Dave to McKeesport. Went to bank & store. Dave went to State College. Julie, Stan & I went to card party at Valley. Won purse & cleaners card. Carol & Elaine came. Baked rolls for bake sale.

Sat – Up late. Stan not feeling well. Washed clothes. Took bake goods for sale. Went to store. Handle on hammer broke. Cleaned living room. Stan helped. Called Mary.

Wed – School. Worked on school homework. Worked on shop checks. Sorted things. Stella & Bill stopped. Had lunch. Went to school. Stopped at Grants. Sale tomorrow. Disgusted.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Cleaned out upstairs bathroom cupboards. Went to K-Mart. Made stuff chicken & apple crisp & banana bread.

Fri – School. Cleaned upstairs bathroom. Did kitchen & downstairs bathroom. Went to store. Called Stella. Julie went to Leslie’s. Stan worked on income tax.

Sat – Very blue. Frank didn’t give me dirty clothes (abusive). Washed clothes. Went to store. Made kapusta & hamburgers. Fixed rolls in evening.

Sun – Read paper. Stan went to shop. Made roast & rolls. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Most snow melting. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Got garbage cans. Made French fries & omelet. Mended. Went to Mrs. Iames. Washed back.

Fri – School. Julie had concert at Roosevelt. Greg got stuck with Volvo. Stan & I tried to start it – no go. Called Marion & Bill H. at hospital. Guys went back to Volvo – Greg went to bank.

March 4 - March 10, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – School. Greg home sick. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Dave mopped. Went to store. Bill & Stella came out. Showed crochet. Planted tomatoes & petunia seeds.

Tue – School. Greg home. Eleanor called. Dave washed kitchen walls. Baked banana nut bread & cake. Wrote Bill. Took Ivan to dental clinic. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs”.

Wed- School. Greg home. Dave drove Stan to bus station. Made galumpkies & stuffed peppers. Straightened house. Stan called from Cleveland.

Thu – School. Got call to get Harry. Stopped at store. Washed clothes. Dave & I planted blueberry bushes & raspberries. Dave limed garden. Went to bus station to get Stan.

Fri – School. Ivan home sick. Felt lousy. Read. Cleaned kitchen. Iced banana cake. Elaine came home for supper & washed clothes. Dave took her home. Stan worked at shop.

Sat – Nice day. Washed clothes. Worked on CTD accounts. Went to store. Stan went to shop. Kids cleaned. Rain in eve. Read & crocheted. Watched TV. Took walk to school. Frank had friend overnight.

Sun – Called Marion. Read paper. Called Carol. Worked outside. Dan Arico came. Played games with kids. Kids got baths. Washed Julie’s hair.

1975

Tue – School. Made eggs. Greg home sick. Worked on homework. Dave took Ivan to Pitt Dental. Frank went, too. They ate supper at Elaine’s. Frank stayed overnight. Planted tomato seeds. Made pumpkin cookies.

Wed – School. Went to Foodland. Went to bank & Giant Eagle. Elaine & Carol called. Made new cabbage rolls. Dave & Frank went to Carol’s. Went to school. Called Stella & Mary.

Thu – Up early. Frank left for Marion’s. Washed clothes. Straightened house. Regina called. Went to store & K-Mart. Dave got trousers. Marion called. Watched TV.

Fri – School. Rain & fog. Got ready. Went to Mary’s. Drove up to State College. Stopped off at Mills in Altoona. Got Dave’s material. Took Mary to friends. Stan & I went to motel ($17). Mary took us to dinner.

Sat – cold but nice. Picked up Mary & went to Dave’s graduation. Got honey & ice cream to bring home. Stan & I drove home. Elaine here to babysit. Don came for Elaine. Had ice cream.

Sun – Read paper. Went to store. Sorted through Frank’s things. Greg cleaned up room for himself. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes (5 loads). Drained sewage. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Snowed. Went to store. Stan went to Carbide Engineers. Worked on CT Tech checks.

1976

Thu – Stan drove Frank. Mailed kids licenses. Julie home with cold. Washed clothes. Cleaned living room dining room & bedroom. Marion called. Elaine & friend Marian came (washed clothes). Stan & I went to store.

Fri – School. Windy. Turning colder. Drove Frank. Went with Stan to shop. Cleaned office. Cleaned kitchen. Got Julie ready for camp. Went over shop accounts. Called Mary & Stella. Started cleaning Julie’s room.

Sat – Finished cleaning Julie’s room. Washed clothes. Went to store. Elaine called. Mary called John (Texas). Read.

Sun – Nice day. Read paper. Washed hair. Made bacon & egg sandwiches. Stan went to shop. Made apricot cookies – good. Made turkey roast & Dutch slaw. Watched TV. Bill H. stopped.

Mon – School. Drove Frank. Called Carol. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Frank didn’t go to night school (disgusted). Stan went to Carbide Engineers.

Tue – School. Light snow. Drove Frank. Took G & H to Siegels. Fixed lunch. Took Ivan to dental clinic. Went to store.

Wed – School. Picked up Frank. Wrote Cl. Tech checks. Stan signed up Took apart Harry’s sweater. Stan went to Bart’s. Brought home Russian torte (good). Read story in magazine.

1977

Fri – Slept in. Julie late to school. Stan drove to Latrobe. Cleaned house. Went to store. Made Harry’s cake – but had donuts instead. Watched “Man from Atlantis”.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Fixed surf ‘n turf. Very good. Dave came. Visited & watched TV. Julie sold Girl Scout cookies.

Sun – Up early. Julie, Stan & I went to Carol’s. Worked on Clairton Technical books. Made fried bologna & baked beans for supper. Played cards. Watched TV. Kids got baths. Trimmed Harry’s hair.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Stan went to V.A. Dr. Got shot in eye. Changed sheets. Harry had baseball practice. Saw “Wind & the Lion” on TV.

Tue – School. Mailed tax forms. Went to bank & store. Chris Gottheld here for lunch. Pruned grapes. Made pork roast. Watched TV. Made apple dessert. Went to H. Salt for fish K-bobs.

Wed – School. Nice day (67 degrees). Called Carol & Marion. Raked the front from stones. Stan p[pruned trees. Made fried chicken. Worked on jacket. Had 2 right arms. Dave here for lunch. Stan went to PDQ.

Thu – School. Warm. Washed clothes. Dave came to work. He & Dad picked up scrap (Ammonia leak). Ivan & I buildt fire. Sewed jacket. Called Mary. Went to Penneys & Murphys.

1978

Sat – Stan went to look at cars. Dan Arico came. Washed clothes. Cleaned. Frank in bad mood. Broke bookcase. Dave here. Frank got call to Gold Circle. Played cards. Stan call Bill H. at hospital.

Sun – Read paper. Made fr. eggs. Look over car ads. Bill drove Stan to see Volvo. Harry & Stan went to pick it up. Made graham cracker cream pie & London Broil. Dave here. Finished red design sweater. Watched TV.

Mon –Early call. Dave couldn’t get Volvo started. School. Washed clothes & bedclothes from Ivan’s bed. Swept & mopped. Made chiffon cake & meat & stuffing. Dave here. Got car – still trouble. Went to store.

Tue – School. Called Eleanor & called Penn State. Drove Dave to pick up Gremlin from Greg at Ponderosa. First time driving Volvo. Called Marion at hospital. Stan called Bill H. at hospital. Played cards.

Wed – School. Stan & Frank took Pontiac to junk. Stan drove Frank for test. Went on to shop. Made chili & apple pizza. Called Mary. Went to store. Dave got his car fixed – hope. Played cards & made fudge.

Thu – School. Light snow. Washed clothes. Cut out & sewed Julie’s slacks. Called about football for Greg. Stan & I went to Hospital to see Bill H.

Fri – School. Warmer. Stan took Volvo papers to Mark’s. Ate lunch there then went to shop. Frank & I cleaned out fireplace. Cleaned kitchen. Called Marion.
