Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Kids sorted lumber. Took it to Bill at shop. Kids & I went swimming. Made macaroni salad. Washed hair & towels. Cleaned refrid.Drove Chris home. Made juice.

Tue – Didn’t go to PP (monthly). Took Greg to State eye exam (failed). Stopped at Eastland. Took kids swimming. Fixed peaches. Weeded. Rain. Stan went to shop. Marion called. Knitted.

Wed- Rain. Stan went late. Fixed tomatoes. Took Harry to football practice. Had lunch cleanup. Kids went swimming. Not Ivan – earache. Made spaghetti. Worked on Frank’s sweater. Julie helped bake cake.

Thu – Rain. Iced cake. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Dottie & Elaine came for supper. Frank got shirts, slacks, jeans & money. Guys came for Elaine & Dottie. Went to drive-in. Got milk.

Fri – Went to bank & store. Sorted mail. Took kids swimming. Went to Jims. Got 2 new tires. Made stew. Ate late. Frank home sick. Marion called. Guys watched football game.

Sat – Laura Slater called. Bill H. called. Washed. Went to store. Julie cooked supper. Stan went to Great Wall. Got Ivan from swimming. Cleaned house. Played pinochle. Ken Gheno and Bob Prososky looked at shop.

Sun – Laura called again. Drove Frank to get truck. (He helped her move.) Drove kids to show. Poured. Rt. 51 like a river. Fixed fruit. Stan worked at shop. Kids played football in mud.

1975

Tue – Hot. Filed payments. Mailed checks. Picked tomatoes & corn. Fixed big pot of tomatoes. Made kapusta. Rained. Stan & I went for Simca parts. Dave called. Stan went down to get him (station). Canned 9 qts. tomatoes.

Wed – Water was shut off. Julie & Ivan went to Clairton to Baker’s. We all went swimming (Dave, too). Stan picked up Simca. Stan went back to shop. Read.

Thu – Washed clothes. Went to Murphy Mart & Giant Eagle. Mixed blueberry cake & birthday cake. Went swimming. Kids cut grass. Kids went to Baker’s for party. Bill & Carolyn came.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Iced cake. Picked tomatoes (9 qts). Made roast chicken & stuffing. Had Frank for birthday. Got jeans, underpants & right guard. Bill came to get Julie.

Sat – Rain. Slept late. Cleaned. Washed clothes. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Made pepper steak. Watched Steeler game. Went swimming. Left early – rain.

Sun – Rain. Read paper. Stan couldn’t get car started. Bill brought Julie home. Looked at car. Had left over stuffed chicken. Carol & Jim came out. Trimmed Dave’s hair.

Mon – Labor Day. Light rain. Cleaned out drain. Planted & trimmed hedge. Stan & boys cleaned out garage. Dave cooked supper (chili). Julie made dessert. Kids got baths. Frank worked.

1976

Thu – Greg & I worked. Rain in afternoon. Bruce Bressinger stopped at Tumacs. Fixed hot dogs & baked beans. Marion called.

Fri – Greg & I worked. Went to Best Steak House with Debbie & Margo. Ivan fixed steak for supper. Went to store. Got Julie tennis shoes for school.

Sat – Hot & humid. Washed clothes. Slept late. Elaine came with Lee (from Maryland). Rain. I went to store. (Plymouth sick). Had melon balls, corn on cob & kielbossi. Visited. Watched TV.

Sun – Read paper & iced cake. Went to Phyllis’s for jeans. Kids went swimming. Got milk. Had backed chicken for Frank’s birthday dinner. Got undershirts & socks. (Money from Dave.)

Mon – Washed all upstairs sheets, blankets & mattress covers. Mended clothes. Tired. Cooler. Remade beds. Marion called. Weeded & trimmed hedge. Kids cut grass.

Tue – Weeded strawberry hill – 3 garbage cans full. Cleaned out refrigerator. Stan started iritis. Harry had evening practice. Dave took Ivan to Dental. Went to K-Mart & Siegels.

Wed – Washed clothes. Did Dave’s & our mattress covers & blankets. Tired. Called Marion about sauerkraut recipe.

1977

Fri – Took Frank to work. Went to store. Wrapped last of presents. Cleaned house. Kids went swimming. Greg drove to Gubalas to change place with Harry. Both slept over. Weeded hill. Elaine came.

Sat – Stan took Frank to work. Greg & Harry finished work at Gubalas. Elaine & Julie went to see Bill at work. Washed clothes. Iced cake. Made lasagna. Frank home late. Had 21^st birthday party. Julie went to Bill & Carolyn’s. Elaine went to Andrea.

Sun – Stan up early – drove Frank to work. Elaine called – said good-bye. Worked on hill in back. Julie at zoo, Ivan swimming, Greg & Harry went to Carol’s. Hot – laid around. Got showers.

Mon – Hot & humid. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to store. Kids & I went swimming. Had left over lasagna. Read my new Good Housekeeping. Bruce, Robin & baby came. Visited. Rain.

Tue – Cloudy. Stan took Frank to work. Cleaned up crab apples. Made stuffed peppers & galumpkies. Made squash cookies. Frank took car in evening to work at Eastland. No money left. I was mad at him.

Wed – Frank didn’t work. Washed clothes. Cut front grass. Reseeded spots. Watered. Kids went swimming. Had fresh pears from yard. Stan & I went to Greengate Mall. Saw “Star Wars”. Home late.

Thu – Frank didn’t work. Went to McKeesport. Swept up crab apples. Went to the store. Fixed fish. Kids went swimming. Harry & Julie went to Aunt Helen’s. Stopped at Eleanor’s.

1978

Sat – Nice day. Stan drove me out to take cat to Humane Society. Went to Eastland. Got Greg’s linens. Washed clothes. Packed Greg’s glasses. Watched football. Harry worked.

Sun – Read paper. Hot & humid. Gathered rubbish. Sprayed carpet (fleas). Cleaned up – stairs tub & sink. Put chemicals down drain. Julie came home from Bill & Carolyn’s. Had new slacks. Started on Volvo. Called Eleanor.

Mon – Stan went to work early (Datsun). Harry drove Greg to work (Subaru). Harry took car. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to store. Harry bought new stereo. Dave came. Thunderstorm.

Tue – Stan went to Latrobe. Greg went to Penn State. He & Harry worked on Volvo. Dave came. Had chicken & birthday cake. Frank got shirt, belt & 2 jeans. Dave came here after work.

Wed – Ivan & Julie had 1^st day school. Wrote Elaine. Made spaghetti & sour cream twists. Dave here. Greg quit Ponderosa. He worked on Volvo. Bill stopped. Watched TV.

Thu – Washed clothes. Mended. Rain. Stan brought home corn. Stan got truck. Helped Greg & Dave move. Washed bedding. Bill & Carolyn came. Watched Soap. Took truck back.

Fri – Up early. Fixed Harry breakfast. Harry left for Army. Thoroughly cleaned kitchen. Went to store.

August 19 - August 25, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Frank started football. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Got milk & gas. Took kids swimming. Changed sheets. Greg & Harry helped at shop.

Tue – Took Ivan to dentist. Carol called. Went to store. Carol & kids & I went swimming. Carol left early. Visited Sharon & Mrs. Iames. Made stuffed peppers & cabbage rolls. Stan’s fan belt broke on Simca.

Wed- Took Greg to dentist then went to town. Had Dave’s car – Stan had mine. Took kids swimming. Canned tomatoes. Jim H., Bill & Dan here for meeting. Elaine & Don stopped out. Julie slept at Leslie’s.

Thu – Frank had football. Took Harry to practice. Washed clothes. Went swimming. Julie ate at Leslie’s. Frank had scrimmage. Stan watched. Went to K-Mart. Kids cut grass.

Fri – Kids & I cleaned. Had late lunch. Went swimming. Stayed late. Stopped at McDonald’s, Relaxed at home. Bill & Carolyn stopped.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan went to shop. Kids went swimming. Had supper. All went to Sunnyhill for night swim & corn roast. Stan came too later (didn’t swim).

Sun – Hot & humid. Read paper. Took kids swimming. Picked tomatoes. Canned 11 qts. Had 4 trays of tomatoes. Light rain. Made spice cake with penuche icing.

1975

Tue – Called Mrs. Matta at IRS about tax revisions. Mended. Kids & I went swimming. Nice day. Marion called. Mary called.

Wed – Wrote checks. Made phone calls. Drove Stan to shop (after lunch). Took Ivan & Harry to Dr. Siegel – Julie came, too. Stopped at bank & K-Mart. Carol & Jim came. Went over tax revisions.

Thu – Slept late. Washed clothes. Kids went swimming. Had lunch clean-up. Went to store in eve. Stan went to shop. Watched TV. Rain.

Fri – Cleaned living room etc. Kids went swimming. Cleaned kitchen & bath. In evening, made cup cakes. Watched Steelers on TV.

Sat – Washed clothes. Iced up cakes & packed them. Went to JBB& SA picnic. Big crowd. Had trouble with car. Watched TV. Washed hair & showered. Made lemonade.

Sun – Hot & humid. Read paper. Fixed lemonade for carnival. Went over to McGee’s. Threw darts & watched show. Took pictures. Went swimming in eve. Frank came. No money – got his food stamps.

Mon – Hot & humid. Slept late. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Wrote checks for Cl. Tech. Kids drove bikes to swim. Went to store. Stan went back to shop.

1976

Thu – Greg & I worked. Stopped at store. Harry had evening practice. Eleanor & Laura came (exchange magazines).

Fri – Greg & I went to work. Went to Ponderosa for lunch. Took Harry supper at pool. Went swimming. Watched TV.

Sat – Nice day. Washed clothes. Took kids swimming. Went to store & bank. (Greg’s check in wash). Took kids supper at pool & went swimming. (Mimi Dyson hit head.)

Mon – Greg & I worked. Slow. Kids washed clothes & swept cellar. Stan, Julie & I went to Bill & Carolyn’s for her birthday. Bill H. & Ray Shawhan came for cement mixer.

Tue – Greg & I went to work. Not much to do. Kids went swimming. Harry had practice. Made tea & juice. Fixed potatoes. Took shower.

Wed – Hot & humid. Greg & I worked. Busier. Stopped at A&P. Fixed meat loaf sandwiches. Kids & I went swimming. Took Harry supper. Washed clothes.

1977

Fri – Nice day. Worked on top part of front grass. Planted flowers at top & grass seed. Harry & Ivan went to Caroline’s. Helen called. Bill H. came out. Took Harry to Gubala’s.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store & Murphy’s Mart. Bill & Carolyn came with new BMW 530i. Beautiful. Covered grass from birds. Took Julie to Penney’s.

Sun – Up early. Read paper. Typed Frank’s versus. Made apple pies. Stan fixed mowers. Dave, Julie & Ivan went to ballgame. Watched TV. Greg drove Harry to Gubala’s.

Mon – Harry worked. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Went for milk. Stan went to town & made calls. Went to store. Cut grass in front. Dave & Frank cut back.

Tue – Greg got call to work (Wander). Frank went instead. Cleaned house. Wrapped Frank’s presents. Ivan (grounded) finished grass. Greg went to Gubala’s – changed places with Harry.

Wed – Up early. Drove Frank to work. Washed clothes. Made pan toll house. Picked garden. Ivan got jeans at Phyllis’. Made roast beef & potatoes (didn’t get done). Harry drove me to Etna. Got coat. Went to Gubalas. Greg’s knee sore.

Thu – Drove Frank to work. Washed clothes. Called Carol, Bill & Carolyn, Blue Cross, etc. Dave got call to go to Murphy’s. Stan drove to town. Watered front grass.

1978

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan took me to store. Got order. Greg worked. Had steak dinner & apple pie. Guys watched football. Rained. Dave came.

Sun – Cooler. Made buckwheat cakes. Bill & Carolyn came. Marion called. Called Carol. Had spaghetti dinner. Bill & Carolyn stayed. Gave presents to Carolyn. Worked on Subaru & exhaust system of Datsun.

Mon – Fixed lunches. Stan drove Ivan to work. Washed clothes. Swept. Frank mopped. Frank cut grass. Harry & Flip cut wood. Made applesauce cake & pepper steak. Dave came to wash clothes. Bill & Carolyn came to work on car. Stan took me to store.

Tue – Stan drove Ivan to work. Canned tomatoes. Read. Harry had tennis date.

Wed – Harry drove Ivan to work. Stan home sick. Greg didn’t work. He went to Eastland. Made sour cream twists. Finished reading “The Four Swans”. Bill & Carolyn stopped with used Volvo.

Thu – Stan drove Ivan to work. Washed clothes. Worked on wood pile. Harry took me to store. Canned 2 qts tomatoes. Dave came. Watched “Poldark”.

Fri – Stan drove Ivan to work. Hot & humid. Made Russian torte. Had scallops. Cleaned house. Bill & Carolyn came. Worked on car. Took Julie to their house.

August 12 - 18, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Frank helped Bill. Took kids swimming. Picked corn & strawberries. Went to K-Mart. Got Julie new coat.

Tue – Took Greg for eye examination. (No proof of age – wasted trip.) Got gas. Took Greg to dental clinic & went to town. Got shirts. Met Elaine. Got tickets for CLO. Went swimming in eve.

Wed- Took Julie & Harry to Dr. Siegels for glasses exam. Made cream pie and supper. Took kids swimming. Had quick supper. Dan stopped for Stan & we went back swim. Dave came, too.

Thu – Washed clothes. Made Stan’s birthday cake & blueberry muffins. Dave got Elaine. She washed clothes. Had birthday supper. Bill & Carolyn stopped. Don came for Elaine.

Fri – Slept late. Dave took Greg to Dental Clinic. Kids went swimming. Cleaned. Stan worked over. Frank worked. Went swimming in eve.

Sat – Stan went to shop. Washed clothes. Went swimming. Carol & Jim here. Brought cake for Dad. Had easy supper. Stan & I got ready. Went to see “The King & I”.

Sun – Stan went down shop. Called Elaine & Marion. Frank took kids swimming. Picked tomatoes. Canned 3 qts. Bruce H. stopped out.

Tue – Took Stan to shop. Took Ivan to dental clinic. Kids went swimming. Ivan cleaned car. Made blueberry cake & pepper steak. Went swimming in eve. Dan Arico came.

Wed – Hot. Bill H. came out. Took brake shoes of Simca to get fixed. Stan signed up. Mended clothes. Stan went to shop.

Thu – Rainy. Washed clothes. Baked Stan’s birthday cake. Mary called. Went to Sears & Murphy Mart. Got Stan work clothes. Dan Arico came.

Fri – Made stuffed peppers & cabbages. (Bill H. here in morning). Stan took Frank to school. Had blow-up about Frank. Decorated Stan’s cake. Bill stopped. Stan got work clothes. Took Julie to K-Mart. Rain.

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan worked. Mary Narvin came out, had soup. Took her to shop and around garden. Scattered showers. Kids planned muscular dystrophy carnival.

Sun – Felt terrible about Frank. Made chicken soup & chicken noodle casserole. Ate early. Stan had meeting with Miller. Went swimming.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Kids went swimming. Sorted Ivan’s & Harry’s clothes. Called Stella. Stan went back to shop.

Thu – Car wouldn’t start. Stan drove Greg & I to work. Kids went swimming. Hot & humid. Washed clothes. Marion called. Wrote Elaine. Ivan home again.

Fri – Greg & I went to work Bad day. Went to Pizza Hut for lunch. Ivan fixed hot dogs & baked beans. Tired.

Sat – Stan had flat tire on Simca. Went to store. Washed clothes. Bryon & Bruce came. Visited. Cleaned living room & dining room. Stan did bedroom, bath & hall. Greg made tacos. Watched Steelers. Julie got bath & washed hair.

Sun – Rain. Julie went to church round-up & stayed at Heather’s. Made potato salad, iced cake & made 2 jars of pickles. Elaine called. Mary came (supper). Carol & Jim came. Saw pictures from Poland.

Mon – Harry drove us to work. Stan didn’t get car inspected. Harry started football. Went to store. Julie came home from Heather’s. Ivan washed clothes, cut grass & cleaned cellar.

Tue – Greg & I went to work. Weeded. Looked in garden for tomatoes. Dace cooked beef stroganoff. Harry had football practice in evening. Stan took him & met with John Marks.

Wed – Greg & I worked. Mary Ann’s last day. Margo not there. Stopped at store.

Fri – Frank chopped at back weeds. Ivan & Harry went to Caroline’s. Cleaned house. Burned chicken. Broke glass in china closet. Stan drove me to Murphy Mart & Bill & Carolyn (weren’t home). Dave left for vacation in D.C.

Sat – Ivan & Greg went to Caroline’s. Stan went to shop. Marion called. Washed clothes. Dug up crabgrass. Elaine called. Dave arrived safe. Carol & Jim stopped. Julie slept over Patty Z. Watched Steelers.

Sun – Slept late. Read paper. Made lasagna. Stan went in to Pap’s. Bruce & Robin came with baby. Bill & Carolyn came. Watched TV. Power went off – about 2 hrs. Baked Stan’s cake.

Mon – Went to bank & store. Went to school for football tickets. Went to Eastland. Got shirts. Iced Stan’s cake. Elaine called. Picked veg. from garden. Fixed beans.

Tue – Iced cake. Took Ivan to dentist. Took kids swimming. Decorated cake. Greg got tennis racket, clothes & Blitzkrieg. Put out candy. Kids started to cut grass.

Wed- Straightened house. We all went swimming. Tread water 1 hour. Fixed quick supper. Stan went to shop. Knitted.

Thu – Washed clothes. Took kids swimming. Not opened. Frank went to shop. Mended clothes. Weeded. Marion called. Watched TV> President Nixon resigned. Elaine called. Ivan & Julie took hike & cooked. Rain.

Fri – . Made cakes. Cleaned house. Went to Sears & Acme. Frank helped at shop. Kids played Strat. Stan home because hip hurt. Elaine & Don stopped out. Brought doggy bag from “Great Wall”.

Sat – Slept late. Washed clothes. Stan went to shop. Went swimming with kids. Carol & Jim stopped. Gave her tomatoes & strawberries. Bill & Carolyn came. Picked up book case.

Sun – Called Marion. Made French toast. Kids went swimming. Cut front grass. Made meat loaf & streusel cake. Grace called. Stan worked at shop. Picked tomatoes.

1975

Tue – Took Stan to work & went to store. Talked to Elaine. Cut off gown & hemmed. Picked beans & tomatoes. Don came for Elaine. Sewed Elaine’s skirt. Frank called (Evicted). Kids slept out.

Wed – Stan took Frank to Coal Valley. Elaine left. Stan signed up (unemployment). Went to store at lunch time. Washed clothes (Frank’s). Baked cherry pie. Had steak. Greg got clothes, shoes, pen(from Harry). Cut grass.

Thu – Washed clothes. Cut grass. Finished back. Kids burned out bag worms. Frank here for lunch. Mended Harry’s jeans (6 patches). Watched TV. Took shower.

Fri – Nice day. Kids cleaned. Took Harry, Julie, Ivan & Bo to Kennywood. Cleaned. Just 3 for supper. Watered grass & garden. Picked beans & tomatoes. Picked up kids at Kennywood. Frank here – stayed.

Sat – Washed clothes. Me & kids went swimming. Julie stayed. Got Stan at shop. Had left-over meat loaf. Checked Cl.T bank statements.

Sun – Read paper. Made fried bologna sandwiches. Took kids swimming. Took Ivan out to Bill’s. Rain. Had BarBQ chicken. Went in to Paps. Bill H. came over, too.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Frank went to McKeesport. Stan got milk. Took Julie to store (got Leslie earrings for birthday). Julie went to pajama party. Stan went back to shop.

Thu – I worked. Greg stayed home. Carol called. Stan fixed French fries & pork chops. Ivan made cake & iced & decorated it. Wrote to Elaine & took shower. Pontiac didn’t pass inspection.

Fri – Greg & I worked. Went to Best Steak House. Had pop, potato chips, cake for party at work. Carol came for supper (steak). Had cake. Carolyn & Bill came. Nice time. Greg got album & alarm clock.

Sat – Couldn’t start my car. Took Dave’s car. Went to bank & store. Greg got trousers. Rain & humid. Hot water tank blew. Stan got new one & worked on that. Washed clothes (cold water).

Sun – Julie, Kelly & Patty Z. went to SS Church. Cleaned kitchen & scrubbed bathroom tiles. Stan tried to work on cars. Made roast & pineapple upside down cake. Frank here for supper.

Mon – Greg & I worked. Didn’t feel too well. Harry made good supper. I made pickles, ice tea & juice. Watched football on TV. Hurricane “Belle” – terrible rain.

Tue – Greg & I didn’t work. Had light touch of flu. Stan, too. Washed clothes. Kids swept & mopped. Dave made stuffed peppers.

Wed – Greg & I went to work. Ivan went camping with Jeff Graham. Felt tired. Read paper.

1977

Fri – Harry went with Stan to shop. Went to bank & store. Light rain. Hot & humid. Kids went swimming. Cleaned house. Made Greg’s birthday cake. Harry got eggs for me.

Sat – Iced & decorated cake. Went to milk store. Went swimming with kids. Had grilled steak, French fires, salad, etc. Frank had birthday cake. Stan & I went to Carolyn’s to see about drainage.

Sun – Slept late. Made fried bologna sandwiches. Read paper. Made chili. Bill & Carolyn didn’t come. Went to Marions. Had picnic. Met MaryAnn.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Went to store. Stan & Ivan worked on Dave’s car. Picked tomatoes & peppers. Julie went to even. Bible School. Stan took Greg to Carolines.

Tue – Didn’t feel too well. Read. Worked on front a little. Ivan worked on Dave’s car. Broke part next to thermostat. Kids worked couple hours at Caroline’s. Joe Sorockman had heart attack. Mary going to Calif.

Wed – Kids went to work on Caroline’s drain. Joe Sorockman died. Off & on rain. Washed clothes. Took Dave to get part for his car. Fixed car. Took to Bill for tune-up. Kids & I went swimming. Stan home sick. Julie slept over Leslie’s.

Thu – Greg & Harry went to Caroline’s to work. Stan went to shop. Took Frank to McKeesport. I took Dave’s car to store. Worked on front. Planted grass seed & spread halt. Kids went swimming.

Sat – Washed clothes. Fixed shrimp & iced cake. Went to store. Had pizza & cream soup for Greg’s birthday supper. Rain. Harry worked. Greg got trousers, shirt & books & (shirt from B&C).

Sun – Julie & I went to Trax Farm & South Hills Village. Made homemade mushroom soup. Kids went up to Community Day. I went in evening. Nice day, nice crowd. Marlene Mikolaj killed walking home.

Mon – Stan went early. Greg took Ivan to 1^st day work (Pleasant Hills). Washed clothes. Marion called. Went to lunch with Aunt Lavina & Eleanor. We all went to Ponderosa for Greg’s birthday supper.

Tue – Up early. Wrote Elaine. Greg took Ivan to work.

Wed – Tired. Stan & Harry tried to work on Subaru (blown head gasket). Cut berry bushes. Transplanted strawberries. Cut back grass. Bill & Carolyn came. Made pickles. Gave 1 to Bill.

Thu – Ivan packed won lunch. Harry drove him to work. Stan used Dave’s car & went to Latrobe. Dave slept here. Washed clothes & made cake. Cut back grass.

Fri –Stan drove Ivan to work in Bill’s Datsun. Cleaned house. Greg went to bank. Harry worked. Bill & Carolyn came to work on Subaru. Drove BMW to store.
