January 1 - 7, 1979-1983

1979

Mon – Rain. Made Bar BQ spareribs in new crocker. Watched Penn State lose to Alabama. Greg here for supper. Harry took him home & Julie to Gubala’s. Called Mary.

Tue – Kids back to school. Washed clothes. 3 big loads. Harry packed (forgot jacket). Greg came. Went to store. Mrs. O. called. Stan home late – light snow. Buildt fire. Watched TV. Cut X-mas cards.

Wed- School. Ivan called – blackout. Wrote Harry. Stan took jacket for Harry (UPS). Took down tree & put away all X-mas trims. Kept fire going – cold (-3 degrees). Watched TV.

Thu – School. Cold. Stan took Subaru car to Goukers. Kept fire going Washed clothes. Cleaned out refrigerator. Called Eleanor. Ivan went to milk store & took me to Shop ‘N Save.

Fri – School. Stan left car at Goukers. They got him at work. Made stuffed peppers & galumpkies. Made apple pie. Ivan drove to Bethel Murphys. Slick. Stopped at Marions.

Sat – Slept later. Stan went to work. Washed clothes. Cleaned living room, etc. Stan watched hula bowl. Dave came. Played cards.

Sun – Felt sick. Bad cold. Icy rain. Watched Steelers beat Houston 34-5. Julie wore terrible towel. Dallas won (LA) 28-0. Played cards & watched TV. Made cream – strawberry pie.

1980

Tue – School – nobody went. Slept late. Dave went to work. Read. Stan got Julie from Sue’s. Had BBQ pork chops. Dave came supper.

Wed – School. Julie home sick. Washed clothes. Called Eleanor. Went to store & bank. Greg here for supper. Wrote Harry. Took down X-mas cards.

Thu – School. Marion called. Wrote Grace Aconza & Edna Pearson. Took down tree & trimmings. Guys moved chest back. Things fell out.

Fri – School. Light snow. Stan went to town. Finished “Cotillion” by Georgette Heyer. Called Mary. Dave came for lunch. Sorted cabinet. Cold (-8 degrees).

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Shoveled & swept snow. Went for walk. Read. Marion called (morning).

Sun – Finished book “Walk in Paradise Garden” by Mayberry. Watched game. Steelers 27 – Houston 13. Went to Ponderosa for supper. Los Angeles 9 – Tampa Bay 0. Read.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Stan went bowling. Made sour cream twists. Read “Love is Dangerous” by BC.

1981

Thu – Up early. Read. Stan slept (worked night). Had bad cold. Fixed sauerkraut & spareribs.

Fri – Worked at Lawsons. Julie fixed supper. Tired. Called Marion. Read.

Sat – Worked at Lawsons. Snowed. Stan worked. Greg didn’t go back. Julie took down decorations. Went to Montgomery Ward. Got bras & purse. Read. Washed clothes.

Sun – Worked half day at Lawsons. Greg left for State College Stan worked daylight. Mary called. Julie baked Streusel cake. Had roast beef. Watched TV. Worked rug.

Mon – Cold (-1 degree). Worked at Lawsons. Had left-overs for supper. Stan worked 5-1. Lady stopped – car stuck. Read.

Tue – Took Julie to dental clinic. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Stan worked 5-1. Read. More snow. Marion called & Greg called. Cleaned out refrigerator.

Wed – Slept late. Made bacon & eggs. Paid sewage bill & went to store. Not enough money. Baked cake, made soup. Called Eleanor. Stan exchanged work trousers. Marion Z. called.

1982

Fri – Worked at Lawsons. Did supper. Stan fixed spareribs & kraut. Dave worked. Greg got bell housing off his Volvo. Read – tired.

Sat – Julie & I worked at Lawsons. Stan went to bank & store. Stan fixed meat loaf. Very good. Marion called. Got bell housing welded. Worked on car.

Sun – Julie sick – didn’t work. I worked half day. Went to store. Got Greg’s car going. He drove back to St. College. Mary called. Greg called – arrived but slid off road.

Mon – Worked at Lawsons. Julie went to Pitt Dental Clinic. Dave fixed chicken. Good supper. Took down tree & cards. Packed away tree.

Tue – Put away Christmas tree decorations. Washed clothes. Eleanor took me to lunch (Betty 0 Aunt Blanch). Went shopping. Had left-over sauerkraut. Went to K-Mart. Read. Stan mopped cellar.

Wed – School. Read “The Settlers & Savage Ecstasy”. Made apple pizza. Marion called.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Cleaned house. Called Eleanor. Fixed round steak. Read.

1983

Sat – Worked at Lawsons. Chella worked for Julie. Stan fixed pork & kraut. SMU – 7 Pitt-3. Washed clothes.

Sun – Julie worked. I worked half day. Made beef roast. Invited Marian (no go). Went to K-Mart. Read paper & watched TV. Stan called Hatfields. Was Sunday.

Mon – School. Worked at Lawsons. Took down cards (work & home). Washed clothes. Chella called. Timmy has walking pneumonia.

Tue – School. Julie home sick. Slept late – stomach cramps. Took down X-mas tree. Bill H. came out. Went to store.

Wed – School. Called for work. Didn’t go. Eleanor took me to lunch. Had to get Dave to get me at C World. Stan signed up. Stan & I went to see “Tootsie”. Dave at Toastmasters. Made reuben sandwiches.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Had 3 big loads. Cleaned house. Wrote contests.

Fri – School. Worked. Stan fixed fried potatoes & kielbossi. Stan went to bank & store. Relaxed & read.
