Wed- School. E, G & Harry home sick. Washed clothes. Cleaned kitchen. Ironed. Stan went to school. Painted drawers of sewing machine.

Thu – Greg home. Stan took up rug. Delivered new rug. Sorted stuff. Scrubbed dining room. New furniture came. Took Plymouth to Sears for repair. Stan went bowling.

Fri – School. Sorted pictures. Cleaned dishes & put in new hutch. Went to Al’s & Casinelli’s. Stained drawers & top & varnished stool & table.

Sat – Stan went to library & bowling tournament. Washed clothes & went to store. Took Greg to Drs. Kids burned old buffet & chest. Bill H & kids came out. Stained sewing machine.

Sun – Read paper. Made meat loaf. Gave boys haircuts. Put toys in cellar buffet. Washed heads. Kids got baths. Stan sorted his stuff. Man came about McCormick’s lot.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Cars wouldn’t start. Fixed eggs & potatoes. Stan & I worked on car. Went to store.

Tue – School. Ironed. Cleaned out clothes. Washed coats. Varnished sewing machine. Went to PTA. Bill H. & John H. came out.

1970

Thu – No school (ugh!). Washed clothes. Dad called. Sewed curtains. Finished Elaine’s outfit. Read & watched TV. Stan went bowling.

Fri – (Good Friday) Took Elaine & Dave to town. Got Dave glasses frame. Carol went visiting. Made nut rolls. Visited Mrs. Iames. Washed clothes – 1 load.

Sat – Went to store for Easter goodies. Stan put up curtain rod. Dyed eggs. Carol & Elaine went shopping. Sink drain clogged with wax. Stan fixed it. Cleaned kitchen. Kids got baths.

Sun – Easter. Snowed. Shoveled walks. Greg Kiel came. Kids made huge snow rabbit. Took pictures. Had lots of goodies. Called Dad, Laura Dee & Caroline.

Mon – No school. Washed clothes. Sewer came up. Elaine went to town with Carol. Made macaroni salad & potato soup. David bumped fender again. Gave boys haircuts. Wrote Bill.

Tue – School. Straightened house. Baked bar cookies. Went to bookmobile. Carol typed. Read. Her Greg played organ.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Nice day. Stan & I walked around yard. Fixed chop suey. Carol & Dave washed cars. Kids got black. Washed clothes again. Stella & Bill came out.

Sun – Dave went to church. Made angel food cake & meat loaf. Worked on front. Elaine took down X-mas lights. Stan fixed Caroline’s door. Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Kids got baths.

Tue – School. Bill applied for drivers license. Made apricot & pecan rolls & reg. Rolls. Baked cake. Straightened house. Went to store.

Wed – School. Bill worked on side of house- put stripping & gravel. I took stones out of front yard. Bill drove bowling ball for Stan to roll off.

1972

Sun – Worked Baffler. Read paper. Made cupcakes. Kids cleaned car. Went to Helen’s. Stan visited Pap. Marion & Don stopped (she was fired). Carol & Jim came out. Dave & Elaine at LRY. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Worked outside. Stan went bowling. Elaine took me to store. Crowded.

Tue – School. Slept late. Made choc. Pineapple cookies. Called Eleanor. Made Gobs for Elaine for school.

Wed – School. Cut out dress & apron. Sewed apron. Called Carol. Went to Grants & Bartolatta’s.

Thu – No school. Elaine went to town. Kids played lego. Washed & ironed clothes. Finished dress. Knitted. Played cards. Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Elaine slept over. Dave worked.

Fri – Good Friday. Kids cleaned. Went to bank (closed). Went to store – couldn’t cash check. Stan advanced money. Made nut rolls. Frank slept overnight.

Sat – Went to bank. Went to store. Dyed eggs. Made gr. Meat & macaroni. Made chicken soup. Went to K-Mart. Got new tablecloth.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Went to bank, post office & store. Wrote thank-yous. Stan & Bill went to meeting. Frank loaded truck.

Tue – School. Cleaned kitchen. Kids buildt fire. Put plants outside. Nice day. Bill delivered. Bill & Frank forged. Baked cake. David called.

Wed – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to school for book sale. Buildt fire. Went to Eleanor’s for meeting with Wagner about Dad’s will. Hatfields came out. Lindahls brought pies.

Thu – School. Marion S. called. Called Eleanor. Washed clothes. Ironed.. Buildt fire outside. Greg & Harry kept it going. Burned almost all. Started on bills(CTDS).

Fri – School. Went to bank & store. Cleaned living room Frank went to Conklin’s & stayed overnight. Went to K-Mart. Got birthday present for Collette’s party.

Sat – Made eggs & toast. Washed clothes. Kids cleaned. Went to store. Played cards. Baked sponge cake. Harry went to basketball game.

March 19 - 25, 1969-1973

Wed- School. Elaine home. Elaine & I painted ceilings (living room & dining room) Warm day. Kids played out. Stan went to school. Went to shop.

Thu – School. Elaine home. We painted living room, dining room & upstairs hall. Stan went bowling. Went to store.

Fri – School. Elaine home. Went to Eastland for draperies (gone). Went to bank & bread store. Painted living room. Wrote checks. Paid bills. Eleanor called.

Sat – Stan home. Stan worked on doorbell and outside lights. Carol painted living room. Went shopping for draperies, etc. Went back for carpeting.

Sun – Up early. Washed dining room windows & hung curtains. Fixed plants. Stan painted. Washed clothes. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Greg home early with ear ache. Stan took Harry, Ivan to pack meeting. Bill H. came out. Painted table. Plymouth wouldn’t start.

Tue – School. Harry & Greg home sick. Made galumpkies & perogi. Baked cake. Painted sewing machine stool. Went to store.

1970

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Made rolls, rigatoni. Stan went bowling. Made chocolate chip cookies.

Fri – School. Elaine home sick. Started to store. Car stalled. Drove Mrs. Iames car. Went to Clairton in afternoon. Mailed payments. Possible mail strike. Stan & I visited Marian Scheirig & Clara.

Sat – Stan took Plymouth to get tuned & inspected. Washed clothes. Went to Bartolattos. Rested. Cleaned kitchen in evening. Sewed – lengthened Elaine’s coat sleeves. Stan went all night bowling.

Sun – Read paper. Cut out Elaine’s material. Stan helped Harry build bird house. Wendy came. Elaine made doughnuts. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Made butterscotch parfait. Took kids to cub scouts. Bill H. came out. Dave got stalled with Plymouth.

Tue – School. Took forms to Dr. & Homestead Hosp. Went to store. Swept cellar & mopped. Carol & Greg went to show. Buick was stolen.

Wed – School. Cleaned out fireplace. Dad came. Washed hair. Sewed Elaine’s outfit. Washed windows. Went to store.

1971

Fri – School. Drove Stan to work. Went to Bank & Bartolatta’s. Went to Thorofare & Foodland. Made banana cream pie. Dave took Elaine & Andrea to library. Made banana cake.

Sat – Up early. Stan went to work. Took Ivan to Dr. Siegel’s. Ordered glasses. Washed clothes. Ironed. Roxie came in eve. Dave Conklin stayed overnight.

Sun – Frank fixed pancakes. Read paper. Fixed bacon & eggs. Worked crosswords. Had fr. fries & steak. Stan called Pap & Caroline. Gave Stan hair trim.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed. Went to store. Got baseball gloves. Stan went to Carbide meeting. Went with Bill to see Jag. Home late.

Tue – School. Carol home. Ivan home half day. Straightened house. Made apple pizza & veal cordon blue. Elaine & Dave went to party. Carol school. Made cookies.

Wed – School. Made cream of potato soup. Cleaned up. Julie & I went to Grandpa & Aunt Mary’s. Had 80^th birthday lunch. Had spaghetti for supper.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Bill drove Carol to work. Went to McKeesport to sign papers (loan for Jag). Ironed. Stella called. Dave took kids to library & got Ivan’s glasses. Went to Penney’s for Stella.

1972

Sun – Elaine & Bob Toren went to church. Nice day. Stan put in clothes post & put up gutter for garage. I made toaster cover for Grandpa’s Aunt Mary. Wrapped birthday present. Kids went to LRY.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Dave took last test. Got called to be PTA president. Stan went bowling. Went to Sears & store. Played cards.

Tue – School. Stan home sick. Made pies. Worked outside. Dave worked on walk. Elaine took Harry for glasses.

Wed – School. Washed clothes. Eleanor came out and we went shopping. Made Stan tie. Knitted.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made pumpkin cookies & fruit cocktail jelly roll. Called Eleanor. Watched TV – “Harvey”. Knitted. Bruce H. stopped out.

Fri – Cleaned living room & kitchen. Called Helen. Called insurance co (no satisfaction). Knitted. Watched TV. Made casseroles for supper.

Sat – Kids cleaned. Washed clothes. Went to store – Mary called. Called Carol. Played cards. Elaine went to school concert.

1973

Mon – School. Dave’s last day at McKeesport Campus. Washed clothes & swept & mopped cellar. Made shop suey. Dave took car.

Tue – School. Dave home (no school). Went to store. Straightened house. Worked on plants. Dave worked at Blue Flame. Went to Bookmobile & Sears. Made popcorn. Dave worked.

Wed – School. Made mint pie & pineapple meringue. Took apart Dave’s jacket. Made Bar B Q meat loaves. Worked on Mail. Dave went to see Elaine.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Straightened house. Elaine came home. Went to store. Got things for card party. Dave drove Elaine back.

Fri – School. Dave & I planted. Dave got me milk. Went to school. Set up for card party. Home. Fixed supper. Mary Narvin called. Went to card party. Nice crowd, lots of food.

Sat – Washed clothes. Planted berries & lily-of-valley. Dave worked. Fixed supper. Packed Dave’s things. Stan got car in shape. Drove to State College. Arrived at Mary’s 10:30.

Sun – At Mary’s. Had eggs & toast. Drove around campus. Got Dave supplies. Started to rain. Ate dinner with Mary & Dave at “Hub”. Drove home.

March 12 - 18, 1969-1973

Wed- School. Cleaned up. Had PTA meeting here, nominating committee. Went to store. Stan went to school. Took kids to shopping center. They bought some track.

Thu – School. Felt dizzy. Washed & ironed clothes. Read. Stan went bowling. Played game of Risk. Knitted & watched TV.

Fri – School. Baked cake. Went to store. Rested. Had mild flu.

Sat – Took David to Dr. for drivers license. Stopped at store. Helped kids clean. Carol & I went to South Hills Village. Got material.

Sun – Slept late. Read paper. Went to Eastland to May-Stern. Barb & Bob H. stopped out. Kids got baths. Visited Dorothy Iames.

Mon – School. Up early. Washed clothes. Straightened house. Went to Eastland. Bought dining room furniture. Got paint. Went to store. Got Carol. Stan got hair cut.

Tue – School. Nice day. Greg home sick. Cleaned out fireplace. Dad came. Dug up bulbs & watered. Stan took Elaine to hospital (infected corn). Stan went to store & got Carol. Took shower.

Thu – School. Ivan & Greg home. Washed clothes & ironed. Stan home late. Carol swallowed her contact lens. Stan went bowling. Wrote Bill. Watched TV.

Fri – School. Ivan home. Shoveled walks. Chipped ice off porch. Went to Krogers. Straightened house. Bill & Bob H. came. Talked until 2:30AM.

Sat – Tired. Drove Elaine to school. Science test. Washed clothes. Went to Bartolatttas. Greg brought organ. Carol, Greg, Dave & Frank went bowling. Kids rearranged room. Watched TV.

Sun – Felt lousy. Headache. Read paper. Baked cake. Greg came & practiced organ. Watched David Copperfield. Kids got baths. Bill H. called.

Mon – School. Carol took car. Washed clothes. Ironed. Changed sheets. Swept water from water softener. Played organ.

Tue – School. Cut out pink material for coat. Cleaned out dresser drawer. Sewed together lining. Fixed lemon sauce & fish – yugh. Cut out Elaine’s pant skirt & vest. Got Carol. Bill H. came out.

Wed – School. Sewed lining in pink coat. Baked cake. Carol had car. Worked late. Went to K-Mart. Bought Carol dress & sport outfit.

1971

Fri – School. Made lemon meringue pie. Mended. Fixed roast. Carol home late. Dave Conklin stayed. Stan home very late. He wants to quit Carbidie. Dave took Elaine to class play “Arsenic & Old Lace”.

Sat – Washed clothes – a lot. Kids cleaned. Went to store. Carol, kids & I went shopping for TV. Bought a Magnavox at Wander.

Sun – Beautiful day. Baked cake. Made cinnamon toast. Kids played outside. Mad galumpkie. Stan & I visited Pap. Mary was there. Kids got baths. Dave & E went kite flying.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed. Made chicken cacciatore. Stan went bowling. Went to store. Found baby snails & guppies. Carol separated them.

Tue – School. Straightened house. Washed mirrors & waxed. Made custard. Cleaned refrigerator. New TV was delivered. Fuss over adjustment. Visited Mrs. Iames.

Wed – School. Ivan home sick (?). Went to Eastland to get Carol’s coat. Stopped at baker shop. Eleanor came. Showed her dress. Stan home form work late. Took shower.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made lime dessert. Ironed. Julie stayed at Mrs. Iames. Went to HS for Hones for Elaine. Stan went bowling. Dave got Carol early – headache.

1972

Sun – Read paper. Kids picked up blocks. Elaine & I made donuts. Gave kids haircuts. Kids got baths. Thunderstorms.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Bill & boys came with wood for school. Stan went to Carbide Eng. Played cards.

Tue – School. Bill & boys worked on wood again. Mark took me bank. Fixed boys lunch. Cleaned refrigerator. Fixed pork chops & cheesecake. Went to store.

Wed – School. Bill took us to McKeesport for food stamps. Walked all over looking for him. Relaxed. Saw Firebird & picked up stuff. Went to store.

Thu – School. Washed clothes & hair. Made swirled jello dessert. Started Stan’s sweater. Made fire. Went to store.

Fri –School. Blue day. Made cho. Chip cookies. Cleaned living room. Put out new scarves. Played cards.

Sat – Nice day. Slag delivered. Boys cleaned and all worked outside on slag. Big job. Went to store. Dave took test (at school). Played cards. Bob Toren came. Elaine went to class play. He stayed.

1973

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Eleanor called. Dad died. Finished wash. Went in to Dad’s. Went over papers. Home late. Bill had friend here. Dave helped cook. Took kids shopping for shoes.

Tue – School. Regina called. She will take over meeting. Worked on clothes hems. Made spaghetti. Went to funeral home. Lots of flowers & friends.

Wed – Washed hair. Straightened house. Went to funeral home. Went to Eleanor’s for supper. Back to funeral home. Busy. Lawyers came. Poured down rain.

Thu – Kids home. Tried to get Chrysler started. All got ready. Went to Dad’s funeral. Went to Mary’s for refreshments. Home early. Tired.

Fri – School. Washed clothes. Marion called. Lots of ironing. Changed sheets. Elaine came home. Brought dessert. She washed clothes. Got me milk. Bill went to Engineers dance.

Sat – Stan worked on Chrysler. Washed clothes. Went to bank & store. Bill & Frank worked at shop. Bill H. stopped out. Carol & Jim came. Buildt fire. Bad roads.

Sun – Very blue. Made cakes (strawberry whipped cream & choc iced). Had steak – good. Kids got baths. Stan shoveled snow in driveway.

Wed- School. Washed clothes. Went to school for knitting. Called Dorothy Bilan. Went to Penny’s. Stan went school. Took kids to Al’s. Cut & sewed Elaine’s dress.

Thu – School. Stan went to Latrobe. Home early. Helped me clean boy’s room. Made rolls & brownies. Stan went bowling. Went to Sears and Acme. Stan got Carol.

Fri – School. Read story. Washed & ironed. Cleaned out green chest. Finished Elaine’s dress. Elaine went to class play. Stan brought her home.

Sat – Didn’t feel well. Carol & I went to store. Stan worked half day. Took Dave to Dr for driver ex (wasn’t there). Made dough for rolls. Called L. Dee.

Sun – Slept late. Made pecan rolls. Knitted. Went to Haines. Made stuffed pork chops. Got bath & watched TV.

Mon – School. Snow. Washed clothes (5 loads). Changed sheets. Burned rubbish. Stan went to Carbide meeting. Took kids swimming & went to K-Mart. Car wouldn’t start.

Tue – School. Took Julie to baby clinic. Stopped at A & P. Ironed clothes. Stan visited with fellow from India. Made nut cake.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Cut Julie’s hair. Washed our hair. Stan went bowling. Read magazines.

Fri – School. Dave took car. Cleaned kitchen. Julie played with Leslie. Went to K-Mart. Stan took Plymouth to Jack Harris to get fixed. Elaine made cookies.

Sat – Washed clothes. Swept and mopped cellar. Carol worked. Elaine had forensics. Marion called. Greg, Dave & Stan went bowling.

Sun – Cooked turkey legs. Mary called. Went to Haines. Wendy came. Greg worked on Plymouth. Stayed for supper. Kids got baths.

Wed – School. Went to K-Mart. Replanted plants & planted tomatoes & cineraria, Knitted & watched TV. Took baths. Harry had scouts.

Fri – School. Frank home. Went to bank, Penny’s & Haines. Made chili & fixed strawberries. In eve. Went to shoemaker & Bartolotta’s.

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan went to Sears. Firebird front end aligned. TV didn’t work. Made stuffed round steak & tapioca. Kids cleaned.

Sun – Went to UU – S.School. Taught. Made baskets. Stopped at Haines. Stan rolled off. Elaine went to library with Hen. Went to Dad’s & Stella. Bad roads.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Tried to make popcorn. Went to Mrs. Iames. She made popcorn.

Tue – School. Straightened house. Shoveled snow. Ground ham. Made ham loaf & sauce. Dave went to bookmobile. Stan & I went to look at TVs.

Wed – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Baked pumpkin cookies. Read magazines. Stan worked over. Carol stayed in town for school project.

Thu – School. Julie & I went to PP clinic. Waited all morning. Went to Eastland & McKeesport to look at TVs. Stan went bowling. Drove in to get Carol. Bill took Fr & D for haircuts.

Sun – Up early. Showered & washed hair. Read paper. Made stuffed pork chops. Had fresh strawberries & ice cream. David & Elaine went to LRY. Carol & Jim stopped. Cut Stan’s hair.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed & changed sheets. Eleanor came out. Copied tie pattern. Stan went bowling. Stan fixed front door lock.

Tue – School. Went to store. Dave had school. Shoveled snow off back porch. Pruned trees. Crocheted purse (Mrs. Iames). Went to store again.

Wed – Finished Mrs. Iames Purse. Made Stan a tie. Started furniture scarves. Stan had accident. Firebird towed away. Dave brought Stan home from McKeesport.

Thu – School. Ivan got picture taken. Went on field trip. Washed clothes. Ironed & mended. Planted tomato seeds. Went to McKeesport for accident report. Went to store.

Fri – School. Made jello & potato salad. Baked apple dessert. Took Mrs. Iames & went to card party (PTA). Elaine went to South Hills Village. Fan belt broke. Walked home from school.

Sat – Nice day. Kids did cleaning early. They went on hike & packed lunch. Stan worked. Cleaned living room. Played cards. Carol & Jim came out. Brought Stan wine.

Tue – School. Julie home bad cold. Sewed Dave’s jacket & slacks. Regina & Ontha stopped by. Frank took Julie to bookmobile. Baked cake.

Wed – School. Sewed Dave’s jacket & pants. Didn’t fit right. Disgusted. Pruned tees in back. Watched TV.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made jello salad & pudding. Elaine came home for supper. Went to store. Took Elaine back to school.
