December 23 - December 31, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Up early. Made nut rolls. Drove Stan to town to Dr. Went to Stella’s. Went to store. Terrific traffic. Dave & Greg went shopping. Wrapped gifts.

Tue – No school. Baked cookies. Rested. Carol & Jim came. Had swimming frogs but took back. Bill & Carolyn came. Elaine & Don came late. She stayed overnight. Santa came.

Wed- Kids up at 4:30. Opened presents at 9:00. Bill called. Called Carol & Mary. Don came for Elaine. Light snow. Dan Arico came. Played cards.

Thu – Up early. Washed clothes. Went to store for groceries. Dave got milk & bread. Made chicken. Worked on accounting.

Fri – Cleaned house. Took Julie shopping. (Harry came, too.) Got shoes. Made lasagna. Stan & I went to Chatham Center. Saw “Front Page” Home early.

Sat – Washed clothes. Took Julie to Sears. Saw Laura Dee. Worked on checkbook. Frank made trouble about cleaning. Stan & I visited Frances Crain. Nice time.

Sun – Took shower. Called Marion & Elaine. Made pancakes. Read paper. Made tapioca & left over pork Chinese veg. Watched Steelers beat Oakland (24-13). Stan worked on resume.

Mon - Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Cleaned upstairs & changed sheets. Julie made cake. Made dough for rolls. Stan worked on resume.

Tue - Made pecan rolls. Called Eleanor. Looked at sewing machines for Elaine. Went to store. Stan went to see John Marks. Had pizza & sandwich makings. Kids did fire crackers.

1975

Tue – School. Julie home sick. Stan took cookies to school. Mended clothes. Went grocery shopping. Had ready cooked chicken. Got Julie’s present, etc. from Meckley’s. Greg went shopping for gift exchange.

Wed – No school. Washed clothes. Went last minute shopping. Changed sheets. Dave made stuffed peppers. Good. Elaine came for supper. Bill & Carolyn came with gifts for every body. Carol & Jim came. Elaine stayed overnight.

Thu – Kids up at 5:30. Opened presents at 9:00. Bill called. Called Carol. Drove Elaine out to Bill & Carolyn’s. Started to snow. Drove Elaine back. Stopped at Caroline’s. Helped them cut meat.

Fri – Tired. Read National Observer. Dave started work at 8:00. Elaine exchanged things. Went to store in evening. Exchanged Stan’s trousers & got groceries. Called Elaine. Made ice tea, juice. Harry went all-night bowling.

Sat – Cleaned house. Carolyn & Bill stopped out with football shirts. Made pea soup & baked apples. Had steak dinner by candlelight. Went to movie “Blazing Saddles”, sold out.

Sun – Light snow. Read paper. Cut out Julie’s blouse. Went to store. Stan went to shop. Wrote for send away offers (Postage up to 13 cents on 12-31-75.)

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets Fixed Bar-B-Q chicken. Mended & knitted. Watched football.

Tue - Rain. Baked cake. Made ham salad. Cleaned out refridgerator. Cleaned kitchen. Greg & Harry helped Dad at shop. Went to store. Kids worked puzzles.

Wed - Rain. Sewed & finished Julie's yellow blouse. Took Harry to get glasses. Got sandwich makings. Bill & Carolyn came. Brought egg nog & pizza. Had hoagies, pop, potato chips, etc.

1976

Thu – School. Baked 2 more batches of cookies. Went to school for X-mas party then went to store. Messed up tape. Stan cooked supper. Started Julie’s puzzle. Elaine came.

Fri – No school. Started to wash clothes (forgot). Had bad back ache. Stan helped clean. Finished puzzle. Everybody came. Gave them cookies. Up late Santa came.

Sat – Kids up early. Opened presents. Dave & Frank came. Nice presents. Kids went to Bill’s. Stan & I went to Pap’s. Elaine went to Andrea’s & then played in new snow with Ivan.

Sun – Beautiful winter wonderland. Elaine left to go back. Took Harry to Phyllis’s - exchange jeans. Dave came for supper. Steelers lost (Oakland 24 – Steelers 7). New snow.

Mon – School. Went to store for X-mas left-overs. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Bill H. stopped out. Had boiled dinner. Watched TV. Notre Dame 20 – Penn State 7. Mary called.

Tue – School. Ivan & Harry stayed home. Went to eye doctor. Greg late getting up. Stan drove him to bus. Swept & mopped cellar. Played cards.

Wed – School. Went to McKeesport to sign-up. Stopped at store. Very cold. Called Lita Z. Lohner. Played cards. Dave came with clothes to be washed.

Thu - School. Julie stayed home. Cold. Washed clothes. Stan delivered drums. Ironed. Watched TV. Frank stopped. Stan drove him home. Sewed new apron.

Fri - School. Everybody went. Went to store. Crowded. Bought skates. Stan helped me clean. Bill & Carolyn came & Dave, too. They brought pop, potato chips & pop. Had pizza & sandwich makings. Had nice time.

1977

Fri – School. Baked lady locks. Went to store. Made raisin cookies & stuffed apricots. Frank helped clean. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Carolyn & Bill came with turkey.

Sat – Made peanut butter – Hershey cookies. Made cake. Elaine came. Had soup & pizza for lunch. Washed clothes. Made chili. Ironed. Carol & Jim came. Bill & Carolyn came. Exchanged gifts. All together. Santa came.

Sun – Christmas. Ivan & Julie up at 6:30. Opened presents at 9:00. Wonderful. Stan fixed ham & eggs. Elaine went to Carol’s. Had turkey dinner. Good. Bill & Carolyn came. Andrea came.

Mon – Slept late. Went to store for exchanges. Fixed ham. Bill Hat. Stopped out. Stan & I went to Pap’s & Caroline.

Tue – Stan went to work. Washed clothes. Kids swept & mopped. Took kids ice skating. Went to store, got milk. Stan & I went to Poli restaurant – delicious. Too late for show. Watched TV.

Wed – Stan went to W. Va. Called Marion. Kids slept late. Straightened house. Made lasagna. Dave moved some things to new apartment (Boston). Washed clothes. Played cards.

Thu – Called Carol. Drove Greg to work. Went to store. Harry went to Oakland. Made French chocolates. Harry got parking ticket. Hatfields came to help Dave move – very late.

Fri - Nice day. Slept late. Greg & Frank played football. Cleaned living room, dining room & kitchen. Got Stan shirt & tie. Bill & Carolyn came for us. Went to Hukelau. Had great time. Pitt 34 - Clemson 3.

Sat - Nice day. Went to store. Washed clothes. Made meat loaf. Fixed shrimp. Dan & Elaine called. Bill & Carolyn & Dave came & ate oodles of food, lots of pop. Nice time.

1978

Sat – Stan got up, went to meeting. Elaine & I made onion soup. Baked peanut cookies. Harry drove me to store. Stan picked up steaks, etc. Had lasagna dinner. Good. Elaine visited Andrea – hospital. Elaine out in eve. Made tea cakes. N.C.S. 30 – Pitt 17.

Sun – Julie went to church. Made chicken soup & cleaned up. Dave & Greg came. Had steak dinner. All went well. Carol & Jim came. Had sandwiches. Bill & Carolyn came. Open gift exchange gifts.

Mon – Christmas. Dave & Greg came over. Opened gifts. Elaine & Stan fixed brunch. Used electric fry pan. Made a fire. Stan & Elaine visited Caroline & Pap. Elaine visited Bill. Julie visited Danielle.

Tue – Stan sick. Stayed home. Elaine & I talked. She got ready. Harry took her to airport. Went to store to take back. Washed clothes. Bruce, Robin & BJ came. Buildt fire. Carol stopped.

Wed – Called Marion & Eleanor. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Harry drove me to Murphy art. Got material for Julie’s top. Mary called. Stan & I went to Casa de Leon (duck tough). Went to see “California Suite”. Harry saw Penguins.

Thu – Slept later. Cut out & sewed Julie’s top (nice). Harry took me to Clairton for milk, etc. Made sauerkraut & tapioca pudding. Buildt fire. Watched TV. Girl came selling jewelry. Boys bought.

Fri – Up early. Wrote checks. Called Marion. Read paper. Made pancakes for lunch. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Had spaghetti. Greg came. They played football. Stan exchanged gifts – got hat. Went to store.

Sat - Stan went to shop in morning. Harry went with Flip to game (Steelers 33 - Denver 10). Had pork roast. Greg & Dave came. Ivan & I went to store in Dave's car. Got roast beef sandwiches.

Sun - Washed clothes. Stan cleaned out dryer. Made cake. Had left over sauerkraut. Greg & Dave came early. Harry worked with Benacks. Bill & Carolyn came. Brought pizza, etc. Had shrimp & cream soup. Julie went to Capanna's.
