Thu – Went to Laundromat. Carol went to town. Took kids to opening of Shop ‘N Save for baseball autographs. Ivan & I went to Dr. Stan stayed over at work.

Fri – Cleaned kitchen. Went to bank & store. Took Greg’s glasses to get fixed. Took Harry’s bike. Carol left for Indiana U. Family went to all-star game. Central 1 – Jeff 0.

Sat – Washed clothes. Sewer still came up. Changed sheets. Took D,F,G,& H to Pirate ball game (Pirates 7 – Giants 3). Visited Dad during game.

Sun – Wrote Bill. Went to Haines. Stan worked on sewer line. Stan went to LL ball game. Watched beauty contest & fireworks.

Mon – Washed clothes. Sewed didn’t come up. Rain. Finished mitten. Jay Hawks 15 – Hawks 8. Last game. Watched TV.

Tue – Went to South Hills Village with Greg. Ate lunch out. Got Greg’s presents. Frank had all-star game. Jeff 11 – Elrama 1. Started Elaine’s sweater.

1970

Thu – Baked cake. Took Julie to South Hills & Murphy Mart. Bought presents. Elaine iced cake. Kids made spook house. Carol had school. Played cards.

Fri – kids cleaned house. Washed windows. Ivan & Harry cut front grass. Cleaned kitchen. Cleaned magazines & read.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Swept cellar. Took shower. Stan & I went to Sq. Hill for 2^nd showing “Catch-22”

Sun – Nice day. Dave took kids to Community day parade Stan took Pap to Gromelko’s (from Poland). Stan took kids up for fireworks. Bill H. came out.

Mon – Stan back to work. Washed clothes. Ironed. Bill H. came out with stone. Stayed for supper. Went to store.

Tue – Made out bills. Went to bank & store. Elaine filled pool. Kids started to cut grass. Picked beans, tomatoes. Fixed beans. Started to crochet edging on pillowcase.

Wed – Picked strawberries. Made strawberry fluff dessert. Went shopping for Greg’s birthday. Dave took kids to drive-in “Darling Lilli” & “True Grit”.

1971

Fri – Kids cleaned. Picked & fixed green beans. Bill H. stopped out. Had Julie’s birthday cake & presents in afternoon. Andrea came over. Went to store. Carol & Jim went to C. J.

Sat – Put clothes on to wash. Went to Eastland for wedding dresses. Picked out pattern. Went to Southland. Janie & Diane picked out yellow & brown crepe. Tired.

Sun – Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Made chocolate cream pie. Cleaned kitchen. Had Greg clean bedroom looking for shares. Kids up for fire works & community day.

Mon – Rain. Washed clothes. Went to store. Had David go to Clairton. Elaine went to Andrea’s. Ironed. Elaine went to party. Drove in to get Carol. Stan talked to Dan about wiring.

Tue – Rain. Kids cleaned cellar. Took glasses to get fixed. Went to town to exchange trim (no dice). Went to stores. Went out to South Hills Vill. Took back trim. Carol & Jim came too. Bruce Hat. Here. Accident on 885.

Wed – Rain. Carol took car. Picked beans. Bill took me to store. Had pies & fish for Bill’s birthday. He got new shirt, tie & underwear. Stan & Dave went to Meadows.

Thu – Washed clothes. Late starting. Made spaghetti. Called Eleanor & Mrs. O. Took Elaine to South Hills Village bank. Went to Pfaft Sewing Center. Talked with Carol.

1972

Sun – Up early. Fixed Julie’s cake. Cleaned up lunch. Had Karen, Kim, Jackie & Leslie for small party. Had cake & ice cream. Kids played play dough. Ruth & George Fleischer came with son Jerry.

Mon – Washed clothes. Worked puzzles. Bundled papers. Elaine took Harry & Greg to get glasses fixed & stopped at Pitt. Family went to Harry’s all-star game. Stan went to funeral home. (Karsmeski(?)) Called Dave in Calif. Bill didn’t work.

Tue – Fixed juice. Kids cleaned cellar. Weeded. Ivan cut front. Others cut back. Went shopping (clothes for school). Weeded. Stan & Bill worked on resume. Took bath.

Wed – Took Harry to football practice. Went to Haines & Penneys. Elaine home with bad cold. Kids painted (mess). Telephone man came.

Thu – Went to baby clinic – last time. Went to store & dairy. Marion called. Washed clothes. Made brownies. Stan went to see John M. Finish knitting Stan’s sweater. Elaine worked.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Cleaned living room & kitchen. Fixed streaks & blueberry muffins for Bill’s birthday. Got him underwear. Went to store Got pop, too!

Sat – Washed clothes. Worked on dirt. Stan went to Gobbies. Elaine worked. Baked & decorated Greg’s cake. Kids had cook out. Carol & Jim came. Got 1956 Mercedes. Electricity out for while. Elaine had accident at Blue Flame.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Had Julie’s birthday dinner. She got dress, smock, shoes & socks. Went to store. Elaine’s car abandoned.

Tue – Took Dave to work (1^st day). Frank went to work out. Weeded. Cut out & sewed Julie’s summer top. Elaine made applesauce cake. Knitted.

Wed – Hot & humid. Weeded. Washed front door. Straightened. Date took Mrs. Iames to visit hospital. Picked beans & strawberries. Played cards. Bill worked on Chrysler.

Thu – Washed clothes. Dave drove to work (4-9). Made strawberry pie. Knitted Julie’s poncho.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Slept late. Cleaned kitchen. Went to K-Mart & store.

Sat – Washed clothes. Got milk. Harry helped me clean living room rug. Worked hard. Picked beans & strawberries. Fixed beans. Had smoked pork chops for Bill. Got him wallet.

Sun – Went to Haines. Cost of food (ugh!). Community day. Kids went up. Fireworks. Carol & Jim stopped out.

Fri – Dave drove me to shop with Stan’s shoes. Washed clothes. Carol & Elaine went shopping. New chest came. Carol took kids to play ball. Sorted material.

Sat – Took Frank to ball practice. Went to bank & store. Bill H. & Bruce came out. Put up beam. Stayed for supper. Dug up grease trap. Showed movies. Bruce stayed overnight.

Sun – Weeded out side. Dave & Bruce dug septic tank. Stan started to work on roof. Poured rain. Bill H. took kids home. Had late supper.

Mon – Gathered clothes. Went to Laundromat. Put in dryer at home. Changed sheets. & ironed. Baseball practice. Elaine went to Jay Hawks game. Weeded.

Tue – Weeded. Carol slept in. Went to town for interviews. Cleaned out refrigerator. Baked pies. Went to Bookmobile & store. Got kids from practice.

Thu – Washed clothes. Rain. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed. Andrea came for supper. Stan took kids to drive-in “Patton”. Mended clothes.

Fri – Hot & humid. Kids cleaned. Went to store. Made cake, sauerkraut. Marion called. Kids all went to ball game. Picked beans. Finished Carol’s gray skirt. Kids home late. Lost each other.

Sat – Washed clothes. Folded. Went to store. Dave & I took Mary back to State College. Rode around campus. Pretty town. Took shower & watched TV.

Sun – At Mary’s. Went to Penn State for ice cream & cheese. Dave & I drove home. Home in time for supper. Carol made spaghetti. Rained. Stan went in to Paps.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Swept cellar. Kids played cards. Stan on vacation. Fixed roast. Kids cut grass. I picked, fixed & froze green beans.

Tue – Went to store. Hot & humid. Dave took all the kids to Yough Lake. Made galumpkies. Went to K-Mart. Rain.

Wed – Washed clothes. Changed sheets of boys beds. Hot. Started to rip Elaine’s sweater. Boys watched ball game.

1971

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to bank & store. Dave started bathroom tiles (hard job). Called Dad. Had stomach ache in evening. Stan went golfing.

Sat – Rain. Mrs. O. & Jane came up. Carol went to wedding with Jim. Took kids to Southland. Went to store for bathroom tiles. Stan started to pick up old ones. Elaine had date.

Sun – Stan worked on taking up old tile. Laid a few new ones. Baked cake. Called Marion. Ran out of 1 color of yarn for afghan.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Had kids change beds. Stan laid new floor in bathroom. Carol had school. Put back toilet. Tank cracked.

Tue – Made French toast. We went to Cedar Creek. Kids tried to fish. Stopped at Paydays. Carol went looking for halls. Stan & I went to Paps & Dads. Hatfields came out. Transformer blew.

Wed – Took Firebird to Sears to get tires changed. Went shopping. Stan took Plymouth for oil change. Stan, Carol & I went to book at Halls. At Castle Shannon & Holy Cross Church.

Thu – Washed clothes. Stan got new toilet & put it up. Took kids to Sears to get new shoes. Got toilet seat. Made Julie’s cake. Carol J. & Steve visited.

1972

Sun – Sewed Carol’s dress. Mary called. Katey, Joe, Tom & Mary came. Went to Haines. Set out fixings for sandwiches. Bill H. came. Finished Carol’s dress. Dave Conklin slept over.

Mon – Got early call. Mrs. Conklin died. Washed clothes. Went to Conklin’s. Cleaned up. Greg had game. Greg Kiel stopped. Stan took for ride in Datsun. Got milk.

Tue – Greg & Harry have poison ivy. Sewed Julie’s dress & slacks. Went to store. Went to K-Mart. Got tennis shoes. John Marks came. Signed agreement.

Wed – Made potato salad. Bill took up to Conklin’s. Kids started to paint house trim. Painted back door. Stan helped in evening. Cut out material. Finished Julie’s slacks. Elaine had date.

Thu – Sent in insurance. Went to bank. Washed clothes. Cleaned up lunch. Frank went to funeral service. Dave packed. Called Dad. Made telephone list.

Fri – Took Frank to Gobbies. Drove Dave to airport. Grace Smith flying to L.A., too. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen. Frank’s boy friends came. Slept overnight.

Mon – Washed clothes. Made sweet dough & cheesecake. Swept & mopped cellar. Elaine didn’t work. Wrote Julie’s invitations. Bill & Dave worked on Datsun.

Tue – Made puff pastry. Went to K-Mart & Kroger. Cleaned up. Made beef stroganoff. Frank had practice. Wrapped gifts for Julie’s party.

Wed – Made peirogi & kapusta. Kids helped make hamburger patties for lunch. Greg had smart mouth.

Thu – Cut out Julie’s dress. Sewed. Washed clothes. Greg had practice. Picked beans.

Fri – Kids helped clean. Cleaned kitchen. Finished Julie’s dress. Made potato pancakes. Dave took kids to practice. Went to store. Elaine went to New York for concert.

Thu – Went to Acme. Fixed early supper. Took Ivan to Dr. Took Stan to ballgame. Orioles 4 – Hawks 2. Went to store. Got Carol early.

Fri – Took Dave out for test. Passed. Stopped at South Hills Village. Went to bank & store. Hot & humid. Wrote checks. Carol left for Indiana State Teachers.

Sat – Washed clothes. Frank had red leather glove in wash (ugh!)

Sun – Rain. Read paper. Watched TV till late. Watched first man on moon (Armstrong – Aldrin – Collins). Called Stella. Mary called.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Kids mopped. Went to store in eve. Man came about garage.

Tue – Finished Stan’s sweater. Frank had all star practice. Had corn from egg man. Took kids to drive-in “Peter Pan” & “Paper Lion”.

Thu – Washed clothes. Bill came home. Changed sheets. Went to store. Fixed steaks & pan browned potatoes. Bill didn’t come till evening. He took suitcase to Eleanor. Up late talking.

Fri – Slept late. Baked cake. Kids cleaned. Went to bank & store. Paid bills. Made chicken. Had Bill & Wendy. Elaine stayed at Andrea’s.

Sat – Elaine went to Andrea’s. Washed clothes. Carol washed car. Changed sheets. Cleaned kitchen. Bill Wendy, Stan & I went to Odd Chair Theater. Saw “Everything in the Garden”.

Sun – Hot & humid. Elaine went to St. Paulina’s picnic with Andrea. Bill & Wendy took kids swimming at Clairton. Carol went to Indiana. Waded in home pool. Uncle Bill H. came out.

Mon – Washed clothes. Picked beets from garden. Made frozen pastry cups. Fixed fresh fruit. Had Bill & Wendy for supper. Meat loaf. Weeded.

Sun – Nice day. Made spaghetti sauce. Went to South Park for Barbara’s wedding reception. Kids went swimming. Dave went to ballgame. Elaine to St. Paulina’s picnic.

Mon – Hot & humid. Washed clothes. Went to First Federal of Homestead, Zayre & Eastland. Kids played tennis. Stan went to see John Marks. Bill H. stopped out.

Tue – Made spaghetti sauce early. Cut out Julie’s dress. Took kids up to Hydro Carbide. Went to Keystone Lake. Nice. Stopped at Payday’s. Blocked in. Home late.

Wed – Hot & humid. Drained pool. Scrubbed it. Kids cut grass. Picked & fixed beans. Elaine worked. Bill took car for check up. Heavy pollution.

Thu – Hot & humid. Marion called. Washed clothes. Kids cleaned pool. Put in new water. Cut out Julie’s pant suit. Went to store. Got new fan & material. Frank went swimming at Clairton.

Fri – Washed clothes again. Folded & put away. Went to store. Took Dave for driver’s test (failed). Wendy visited.

Sat – Cut grass. We all took turns. Stan worked. Carol & Elaine went shopping. Daddy took kids to Teener game. Weeded back.

Sun – Beautiful day. Worked on grape arbor. Stan put new posts & wiring. Dave cut down tree. Mad a fire. Elaine went to drive-in with Wendy.

Mon – Washed clothes. Sewer came up. Went to store. Scolded D. about driving. Harry got bike. Made fire. Elaine went to ball game. Orioles 19 – Jay Hawks 6.

Sun – Had left over soup. Packed bags. Carol drove Stan & I to airport. Took jet to N.Y. Stan registered. Ate at Gauchos’s (Summit Hotel). Walked around. Went to art store. Bought painting.

Mon – Stan had morning lecture. Walked around Park Ave. Bought post cards & mailed them. Went to Tower Suite for dinner. Elegant. Went to wharf for yacht. Too late.

Tue – Went to Hospitality room. Six of us ladies toured U. N. building. Called Honey. Went to Chandlers for dinner & to theater “Last of the Red Hot Lovers”.

Wed – Last day in New York. Had lunch at Pan Am – Copper Club. Dave took kids to Lake Yough. Carol & Greg came to meet our plane. Unpacked.

Fri – Rain. Kids cleaned. Don Scheiman stopped by. Drove me to Haines. Made spaghetti. Andrea came for supper. Stan & I went to Marion & Don’s.

Sat – Nice day. Stan went to ball game with Carbidie employees. Dave took boys to game. Washed clothes. Went to store. Visited Ramsey’s.

Sun – Rain. Slept late. Stan took kids bowling. Fixed meat loaf. Jim came over. Stayed for supper. Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Crocheted.

Thu – Washed clothes. Cleaned hall & varnished. Ironed. Stan & kids put back furniture & living room rug. Tired.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to store. Got peat moss for pool. Elaine & kids set up new swimming pool. Kids went swimming. Carol & Greg took kids to drive-in (“Sleeping Beauty”). Cut veg. For potato salad.

Sat – Morning rain early. Made potato salad & shrimp marinade. Cleaned kitchen. Hoyer’s supposed to come but didn’t show. Dan F. came for Elaine & Carol & Greg. Had cook out on new grill. Dave took kids to see fireworks.

Sun – Slept late. Went to Haines. Made meat loaf. Stan went in to see Pap. Read story. Kids got baths. Washed clothes & changed sheets. Called Stella.

Mon – Stan had day off. Washed clothes. Finished my story of “The Believers”. Ironed. Stan played golf with Bernie & Benny. Cut front grass.

Tue – Cut out dress & nightgown. Sewed dress & fitted it. Fixed pie. Called Eleanor. Dave got suitcase. Bill H. stopped out.

Wed – Finished dress. Went to South Hills Village. Got lingerie. Sewed nightgown. Bobby H. stopped out on way to N. York.

1971

Fri – Went to bank & store. Stan & Dave went to Penn State. I went to bank for loan for David’s schooling. Took kids to drive-in. “Escape from Planet of the Apes” and “Games”. Home late.

Sat – Slept late. Washed clothes. Went to store. Car difficult to start. Dave got me new sprinkler. Watered front.

Sun – Hoed garden. Watered. Carol packed picnic basket for Jim. Baked cake. Had Hans Scheerer for supper. Watered trees. Stan buildt fire. Visited together. Called Stella.

Mon – Holiday. Nice day. Made potato salad. Went to store. Went to Ivan’s ballgame. Stan went to Frank’s. Cut hair. Kids got baths. Carol went to Avalon for fireworks.

Tue – Washed clothes. Took Julie to dental clinic. Got speeding ticket. Elaine helped with washing. Watered garden. G & H had game. Went swimming in kids pool.

Wed – Carol took car. Bill tried to fix starter for Plymouth. Watered front & strawberries. Mended. Went to Frank’s game. Went to store for fruit for David’s picnic.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Made almond dessert (play dough). Went to Ivan’s game. Stan was umpire. Went to Greg & Harry’s. Talked with Mrs. Giansanti.

1972

Sun – Hot & humid. Washed out clothes. Went to Haines. Stan went golfing. Planted portulaca. Started to cut front grass. Rain. Stan went in to say good-bye to Caz.

Mon – Holiday. Stan home. Washed clothes. Started front grass. Rain. Dave & Elaine went after Corvair.

Tue – Light rain. Carol & Jim stopped out. Examined Elaine’s car. Gypped. Made potato salad. Went to store. Gave Stan haircut. Ivan finished front grass.

Wed – Stan home sick. Washed clothes. Rain. Bill H. stopped out. Made spaghetti. Took kids to Eastland. Saw “Biscuit Eater” & “White Wilderness”. Bill & Frank worked with Mr. Gobbie.

Thu – Stan still sick. Went to Dr. Bill & Frank worked with Gobbie. Bruce H. stopped out. Back hurt. Sewed my dress & mended jeans. Stan went with John to go over equipment.

Fri – Stan back at work. Washed clothes. Picked cherries. Made pie – 1 cherry, 1 blueberry. Called Eleanor. Stan went to First Federal for load. Kids had games. Went to store. Got kids underwear & material.

Sat – Took Frank to game. Went to store & bank. Made stuffed pepper & galumpkie. Stan went to shop. Carol & Jim came out. Jim worked on Datsun. Carol & I went to K-Mart. Elaine stayed at Andrea’s.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Hot day. Kids started football practice. Kids had game. Stan & I cut front grass. Shower & washed hair.

Tue – Stan stayed late at work. Bill delivered. Washed clothes. Made almond cookies. Played new solitaire.

Wed – Hot & humid. Stan & Bill went to shop to see guy about knives. Went to store. Got yarn & oil. Started Julie’s poncho.

Thu – Took kids to dentist. Got x-rays. Ivan got impressions. Knitted. Post Gazette man came.

Fri – Cleaned kitchen & bath. Washed clothes. Bill came in annoyed. It upset me. Stan home late. Had discussion about shop. Carol came out. Measured dress. She mended.

Sat – Carol & Jim came out on motorcycles. Elaine at Carol’s for haircut. Went to South Hills Village. Dave picked apples at Marion’s. Eleanor called – Mary died. Worked on apples. Stan fixed pool.

Sun – Hot & humid. Made apple pies. Went to funeral home to see Mary. Went down to Eleanor’s. Went swimming. Stan came in, too.
