July 23 - July 29, 1969 to 1973

1969

Wed – Washed clothes. Sewer (ugh!). Carol came home & went to school. Stan uncovered grease trap. Baked brownies.

Thu – Went to store. Went to K-Mart. Made soup & rolls. Went to Dyson’s for fair (M Dys) Cut grass.

Fri – Dave drove me to shop with Stan’s shoes. Washed clothes. Carol & Elaine went shopping. New chest came. Carol took kids to play ball. Sorted material.

Sat – Took Frank to ball practice. Went to bank & store. Bill H. & Bruce came out. Put up beam. Stayed for supper. Dug up grease trap. Showed movies. Bruce stayed overnight.

Sun – Weeded out side. Dave & Bruce dug septic tank. Stan started to work on roof. Poured rain. Bill H. took kids home. Had late supper.

Mon – Gathered clothes. Went to Laundromat. Put in dryer at home. Changed sheets. & ironed. Baseball practice. Elaine went to Jay Hawks game. Weeded.

Tue – Weeded. Carol slept in. Went to town for interviews. Cleaned out refrigerator. Baked pies. Went to Bookmobile & store. Got kids from practice.

1970

Thu – Washed clothes. Rain. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed. Andrea came for supper. Stan took kids to drive-in “Patton”. Mended clothes.

Fri – Hot & humid. Kids cleaned. Went to store. Made cake, sauerkraut. Marion called. Kids all went to ball game. Picked beans. Finished Carol’s gray skirt. Kids home late. Lost each other.

Sat – Washed clothes. Folded. Went to store. Dave & I took Mary back to State College. Rode around campus. Pretty town. Took shower & watched TV.

Sun – At Mary’s. Went to Penn State for ice cream & cheese. Dave & I drove home. Home in time for supper. Carol made spaghetti. Rained. Stan went in to Paps.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Swept cellar. Kids played cards. Stan on vacation. Fixed roast. Kids cut grass. I picked, fixed & froze green beans.

Tue – Went to store. Hot & humid. Dave took all the kids to Yough Lake. Made galumpkies. Went to K-Mart. Rain.

Wed – Washed clothes. Changed sheets of boys beds. Hot. Started to rip Elaine’s sweater. Boys watched ball game.

1971

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to bank & store. Dave started bathroom tiles (hard job). Called Dad. Had stomach ache in evening. Stan went golfing.

Sat – Rain. Mrs. O. & Jane came up. Carol went to wedding with Jim. Took kids to Southland. Went to store for bathroom tiles. Stan started to pick up old ones. Elaine had date.

Sun – Stan worked on taking up old tile. Laid a few new ones. Baked cake. Called Marion. Ran out of 1 color of yarn for afghan.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Had kids change beds. Stan laid new floor in bathroom. Carol had school. Put back toilet. Tank cracked.

Tue – Made French toast. We went to Cedar Creek. Kids tried to fish. Stopped at Paydays. Carol went looking for halls. Stan & I went to Paps & Dads. Hatfields came out. Transformer blew.

Wed – Took Firebird to Sears to get tires changed. Went shopping. Stan took Plymouth for oil change. Stan, Carol & I went to book at Halls. At Castle Shannon & Holy Cross Church.

Thu – Washed clothes. Stan got new toilet & put it up. Took kids to Sears to get new shoes. Got toilet seat. Made Julie’s cake. Carol J. & Steve visited.

1972

Sun – Sewed Carol’s dress. Mary called. Katey, Joe, Tom & Mary came. Went to Haines. Set out fixings for sandwiches. Bill H. came. Finished Carol’s dress. Dave Conklin slept over.

Mon – Got early call. Mrs. Conklin died. Washed clothes. Went to Conklin’s. Cleaned up. Greg had game. Greg Kiel stopped. Stan took for ride in Datsun. Got milk.

Tue – Greg & Harry have poison ivy. Sewed Julie’s dress & slacks. Went to store. Went to K-Mart. Got tennis shoes. John Marks came. Signed agreement.

Wed – Made potato salad. Bill took up to Conklin’s. Kids started to paint house trim. Painted back door. Stan helped in evening. Cut out material. Finished Julie’s slacks. Elaine had date.

Thu – Sent in insurance. Went to bank. Washed clothes. Cleaned up lunch. Frank went to funeral service. Dave packed. Called Dad. Made telephone list.

Fri – Took Frank to Gobbies. Drove Dave to airport. Grace Smith flying to L.A., too. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen. Frank’s boy friends came. Slept overnight.

Sat – Stan & Frank went to Gobbies. Sewed. Talked to Carol. Hatfields came out. Went to shop. Bill Hat. Jr. came for supper. Visited. Carol & Jim came. Baked Julie’s cake.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Made sweet dough & cheesecake. Swept & mopped cellar. Elaine didn’t work. Wrote Julie’s invitations. Bill & Dave worked on Datsun.

Tue – Made puff pastry. Went to K-Mart & Kroger. Cleaned up. Made beef stroganoff. Frank had practice. Wrapped gifts for Julie’s party.

Wed – Made peirogi & kapusta. Kids helped make hamburger patties for lunch. Greg had smart mouth.

Thu – Cut out Julie’s dress. Sewed. Washed clothes. Greg had practice. Picked beans.

Fri – Kids helped clean. Cleaned kitchen. Finished Julie’s dress. Made potato pancakes. Dave took kids to practice. Went to store. Elaine went to New York for concert.

Sat – Stan went to work. Washed clothes. Cleaned up cellar. Carol & Jim came out. Baked Julie’s cake & iced it. Kids went to sleeport. Rain.

Sun – Elaine home again. Decorated cake. Made stuffed peppers & cabbage. Had Julie’s party. 10 kids. Tired. Read magazines.
