August 5 - August 11, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Took kids swimming. Went to bank. Opened trust acct. CTDS. Took Greg shopping for birthday present. Mary called..

Tue – Iced cake. Took Ivan to dentist. Took kids swimming. Decorated cake. Greg got tennis racket, clothes & Blitzkrieg. Put out candy. Kids started to cut grass.

Wed- Straightened house. We all went swimming. Tread water 1 hour. Fixed quick supper. Stan went to shop. Knitted.

Thu – Washed clothes. Took kids swimming. Not opened. Frank went to shop. Mended clothes. Weeded. Marion called. Watched TV> President Nixon resigned. Elaine called. Ivan & Julie took hike & cooked. Rain.

Fri – . Made cakes. Cleaned house. Went to Sears & Acme. Frank helped at shop. Kids played Strat. Stan home because hip hurt. Elaine & Don stopped out. Brought doggy bag from “Great Wall”.

Sat – Slept late. Washed clothes. Stan went to shop. Went swimming with kids. Carol & Jim stopped. Gave her tomatoes & strawberries. Bill & Carolyn came. Picked up book case.

Sun – Called Marion. Made French toast. Kids went swimming. Cut front grass. Made meat loaf & streusel cake. Grace called. Stan worked at shop. Picked tomatoes.

1975

Tue – Took Stan to work & went to store. Talked to Elaine. Cut off gown & hemmed. Picked beans & tomatoes. Don came for Elaine. Sewed Elaine’s skirt. Frank called (Evicted). Kids slept out.

Wed – Stan took Frank to Coal Valley. Elaine left. Stan signed up (unemployment). Went to store at lunch time. Washed clothes (Frank’s). Baked cherry pie. Had steak. Greg got clothes, shoes, pen(from Harry). Cut grass.

Thu – Washed clothes. Cut grass. Finished back. Kids burned out bag worms. Frank here for lunch. Mended Harry’s jeans (6 patches). Watched TV. Took shower.

Fri – Nice day. Kids cleaned. Took Harry, Julie, Ivan & Bo to Kennywood. Cleaned. Just 3 for supper. Watered grass & garden. Picked beans & tomatoes. Picked up kids at Kennywood. Frank here – stayed.

Sat – Washed clothes. Me & kids went swimming. Julie stayed. Got Stan at shop. Had left-over meat loaf. Checked Cl.T bank statements.

Sun – Read paper. Made fried bologna sandwiches. Took kids swimming. Took Ivan out to Bill’s. Rain. Had BarBQ chicken. Went in to Paps. Bill H. came over, too.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Frank went to McKeesport. Stan got milk. Took Julie to store (got Leslie earrings for birthday). Julie went to pajama party. Stan went back to shop.

1976

Thu – I worked. Greg stayed home. Carol called. Stan fixed French fries & pork chops. Ivan made cake & iced & decorated it. Wrote to Elaine & took shower. Pontiac didn’t pass inspection.

Fri – Greg & I worked. Went to Best Steak House. Had pop, potato chips, cake for party at work. Carol came for supper (steak). Had cake. Carolyn & Bill came. Nice time. Greg got album & alarm clock.

Sat – Couldn’t start my car. Took Dave’s car. Went to bank & store. Greg got trousers. Rain & humid. Hot water tank blew. Stan got new one & worked on that. Washed clothes (cold water).

Sun – Julie, Kelly & Patty Z. went to SS Church. Cleaned kitchen & scrubbed bathroom tiles. Stan tried to work on cars. Made roast & pineapple upside down cake. Frank here for supper.

Mon – Greg & I worked. Didn’t feel too well. Harry made good supper. I made pickles, ice tea & juice. Watched football on TV. Hurricane “Belle” – terrible rain.

Tue – Greg & I didn’t work. Had light touch of flu. Stan, too. Washed clothes. Kids swept & mopped. Dave made stuffed peppers.

Wed – Greg & I went to work. Ivan went camping with Jeff Graham. Felt tired. Read paper.

1977

Fri – Harry went with Stan to shop. Went to bank & store. Light rain. Hot & humid. Kids went swimming. Cleaned house. Made Greg’s birthday cake. Harry got eggs for me.

Sat – Iced & decorated cake. Went to milk store. Went swimming with kids. Had grilled steak, French fires, salad, etc. Frank had birthday cake. Stan & I went to Carolyn’s to see about drainage.

Sun – Slept late. Made fried bologna sandwiches. Read paper. Made chili. Bill & Carolyn didn’t come. Went to Marions. Had picnic. Met MaryAnn.

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Went to store. Stan & Ivan worked on Dave’s car. Picked tomatoes & peppers. Julie went to even. Bible School. Stan took Greg to Carolines.

Tue – Didn’t feel too well. Read. Worked on front a little. Ivan worked on Dave’s car. Broke part next to thermostat. Kids worked couple hours at Caroline’s. Joe Sorockman had heart attack. Mary going to Calif.

Wed – Kids went to work on Caroline’s drain. Joe Sorockman died. Off & on rain. Washed clothes. Took Dave to get part for his car. Fixed car. Took to Bill for tune-up. Kids & I went swimming. Stan home sick. Julie slept over Leslie’s.

Thu – Greg & Harry went to Caroline’s to work. Stan went to shop. Took Frank to McKeesport. I took Dave’s car to store. Worked on front. Planted grass seed & spread halt. Kids went swimming.

1978

Sat – Washed clothes. Fixed shrimp & iced cake. Went to store. Had pizza & cream soup for Greg’s birthday supper. Rain. Harry worked. Greg got trousers, shirt & books & (shirt from B&C).

Sun – Julie & I went to Trax Farm & South Hills Village. Made homemade mushroom soup. Kids went up to Community Day. I went in evening. Nice day, nice crowd. Marlene Mikolaj killed walking home.

Mon – Stan went early. Greg took Ivan to 1^st day work (Pleasant Hills). Washed clothes. Marion called. Went to lunch with Aunt Lavina & Eleanor. We all went to Ponderosa for Greg’s birthday supper.

Tue – Up early. Wrote Elaine. Greg took Ivan to work.

Wed – Tired. Stan & Harry tried to work on Subaru (blown head gasket). Cut berry bushes. Transplanted strawberries. Cut back grass. Bill & Carolyn came. Made pickles. Gave 1 to Bill.

Thu – Ivan packed won lunch. Harry drove him to work. Stan used Dave’s car & went to Latrobe. Dave slept here. Washed clothes & made cake. Cut back grass.

Fri –Stan drove Ivan to work in Bill’s Datsun. Cleaned house. Greg went to bank. Harry worked. Bill & Carolyn came to work on Subaru. Drove BMW to store.
