March 19 - 25, 1969-1973

1969

Wed- School. Elaine home. Elaine & I painted ceilings (living room & dining room) Warm day. Kids played out. Stan went to school. Went to shop.

Thu – School. Elaine home. We painted living room, dining room & upstairs hall. Stan went bowling. Went to store.

Fri – School. Elaine home. Went to Eastland for draperies (gone). Went to bank & bread store. Painted living room. Wrote checks. Paid bills. Eleanor called.

Sat – Stan home. Stan worked on doorbell and outside lights. Carol painted living room. Went shopping for draperies, etc. Went back for carpeting.

Sun – Up early. Washed dining room windows & hung curtains. Fixed plants. Stan painted. Washed clothes. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Greg home early with ear ache. Stan took Harry, Ivan to pack meeting. Bill H. came out. Painted table. Plymouth wouldn’t start.

Tue – School. Harry & Greg home sick. Made galumpkies & perogi. Baked cake. Painted sewing machine stool. Went to store.

1970

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Made rolls, rigatoni. Stan went bowling. Made chocolate chip cookies.

Fri – School. Elaine home sick. Started to store. Car stalled. Drove Mrs. Iames car. Went to Clairton in afternoon. Mailed payments. Possible mail strike. Stan & I visited Marian Scheirig & Clara.

Sat – Stan took Plymouth to get tuned & inspected. Washed clothes. Went to Bartolattos. Rested. Cleaned kitchen in evening. Sewed – lengthened Elaine’s coat sleeves. Stan went all night bowling.

Sun – Read paper. Cut out Elaine’s material. Stan helped Harry build bird house. Wendy came. Elaine made doughnuts. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Made butterscotch parfait. Took kids to cub scouts. Bill H. came out. Dave got stalled with Plymouth.

Tue – School. Took forms to Dr. & Homestead Hosp. Went to store. Swept cellar & mopped. Carol & Greg went to show. Buick was stolen.

Wed – School. Cleaned out fireplace. Dad came. Washed hair. Sewed Elaine’s outfit. Washed windows. Went to store.

1971

Fri – School. Drove Stan to work. Went to Bank & Bartolatta’s. Went to Thorofare & Foodland. Made banana cream pie. Dave took Elaine & Andrea to library. Made banana cake.

Sat – Up early. Stan went to work. Took Ivan to Dr. Siegel’s. Ordered glasses. Washed clothes. Ironed. Roxie came in eve. Dave Conklin stayed overnight.

Sun – Frank fixed pancakes. Read paper. Fixed bacon & eggs. Worked crosswords. Had fr. fries & steak. Stan called Pap & Caroline. Gave Stan hair trim.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Ironed. Went to store. Got baseball gloves. Stan went to Carbide meeting. Went with Bill to see Jag. Home late.

Tue – School. Carol home. Ivan home half day. Straightened house. Made apple pizza & veal cordon blue. Elaine & Dave went to party. Carol school. Made cookies.

Wed – School. Made cream of potato soup. Cleaned up. Julie & I went to Grandpa & Aunt Mary’s. Had 80^th birthday lunch. Had spaghetti for supper.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Bill drove Carol to work. Went to McKeesport to sign papers (loan for Jag). Ironed. Stella called. Dave took kids to library & got Ivan’s glasses. Went to Penney’s for Stella.

1972

Sun – Elaine & Bob Toren went to church. Nice day. Stan put in clothes post & put up gutter for garage. I made toaster cover for Grandpa’s Aunt Mary. Wrapped birthday present. Kids went to LRY.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Dave took last test. Got called to be PTA president. Stan went bowling. Went to Sears & store. Played cards.

Tue – School. Stan home sick. Made pies. Worked outside. Dave worked on walk. Elaine took Harry for glasses.

Wed – School. Washed clothes. Eleanor came out and we went shopping. Made Stan tie. Knitted.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made pumpkin cookies & fruit cocktail jelly roll. Called Eleanor. Watched TV – “Harvey”. Knitted. Bruce H. stopped out.

Fri – Cleaned living room & kitchen. Called Helen. Called insurance co (no satisfaction). Knitted. Watched TV. Made casseroles for supper.

Sat – Kids cleaned. Washed clothes. Went to store – Mary called. Called Carol. Played cards. Elaine went to school concert.

1973

Mon – School. Dave’s last day at McKeesport Campus. Washed clothes & swept & mopped cellar. Made shop suey. Dave took car.

Tue – School. Dave home (no school). Went to store. Straightened house. Worked on plants. Dave worked at Blue Flame. Went to Bookmobile & Sears. Made popcorn. Dave worked.

Wed – School. Made mint pie & pineapple meringue. Took apart Dave’s jacket. Made Bar B Q meat loaves. Worked on Mail. Dave went to see Elaine.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Straightened house. Elaine came home. Went to store. Got things for card party. Dave drove Elaine back.

Fri – School. Dave & I planted. Dave got me milk. Went to school. Set up for card party. Home. Fixed supper. Mary Narvin called. Went to card party. Nice crowd, lots of food.

Sat – Washed clothes. Planted berries & lily-of-valley. Dave worked. Fixed supper. Packed Dave’s things. Stan got car in shape. Drove to State College. Arrived at Mary’s 10:30.

Sun – At Mary’s. Had eggs & toast. Drove around campus. Got Dave supplies. Started to rain. Ate dinner with Mary & Dave at “Hub”. Drove home.
