July 24 - July 30, 1964-1968

1964

Fri – Baked cake. Elaine had music lesson. Went to get Bill. Went to store. Kids cut grass. Knitted. Gave boys & Stan haircuts then baths.

Sat – Stan’s day off. Cleaned house. Stan worked on manhole for grease trap. Cemented it in. Relaxed & watched TV.

Sun – Elaine & I went to SS & church. Went to store. Stan filled up sewer hole. Relaxed. Ate & went to see Mom. Mary was there. Drove Mary to town.

Mon – Washed clothes. Baked roast & cupcakes. Went to bread store & reception for Rev. Pease. Stan marked hole in septic tank lid. Bill H. came out.

Tue – Dad came. Made hole in septic tank lid. Iron & went to PP clinic. Got referred for dermatology clinic. David’s game rained out. Hard rainstorm. Went to bookmobile.

Wed – Slept late. Went thru the kids clothes upstairs to see what they had for school. Went to moonlight sale & deposited coupons. Stella & Bill were here. Had pleasant talk.

Thu – Made galumpkies. Washed clothes. Took Bill to Dr. Schnurer. He was dismissed. Folded clothes. Took Elaine to Dr. Stollar for camp examination. Took Stan to Exposition but too late. Closed.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Varnished the furniture. Went for order. Paid mortgage & gas. Dave, Greg & Harry went for hike. Lost Harry. Took Bill to work. Rain storm. Repairman came out to fix wires.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Humid. Mended. Fixed roast & trimmings. Went to Moms. Stopped over at Stella’s. Bought ice cream. Made cones.

Mon – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed & folded. Made brownies. Stan & I Went to library. Mended & sewed Carol’s white shorts.

Tue – Summer school. Knitted. Made pies. Stan went to Meadows with fellows. Picked corn & cucumbers. Stan home late. Police call by mistake.

Wed – Summer school. Made pickles. Stan took keys. Sewed & relaxed. Elaine & I went to South Hills Village opening. Went to Eastland. Moonlight sale. Got Bill about 2:00 AM.

Thu – Summer school. Went to K-Mart & Thorofare. Washed clothes. Ironed & folded. Stan went to Meadows. I went to TOPS. Only Helen Fredell. Decided to discontinue until Sept 9. Carol baked cake.

Fri – Summer school last day. Finished my dress. Cleaned house. Did sleeves for Bill’s sweater.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Stan got new muffler for old Ford. Got cleaned up. All went in to Mom’s for fine dinner. Kate & family for visit. To start home tonight. Bill worked.

Mon – Washed clothes. Folded. Ironed. Big pile. Hot & humid. Made chop suey. Stan worked on muffler. Stan went bowling & Ivan & I went to store.

Tue – Went to Dr. Said it would be another week. Got Stan watch and went to Eastland. Played cards. Stan worked on body of old Ford. Called Eloise Kearns.

Wed – Cut out material for dress. Took kids swimming. Baked cupcakes. Went to see Mrs. Stickle about beds. Took Carol & Elaine to Night Owl sale. Deposited coupons.

Thu – Laura D. called. Washed clothes. Folded & Ironed. Sybil & Phyllis Houser called. Started show but no contractions. Went to Haines for Pole lamp.

Fri – Called Laura D. Finished dress. Kids helped me clean house. Cleaned kitchen & upstairs bathroom. Went to Southland for late drawing. Didn’t win.

Sat – Started labor about 5AM. Stan went to work but came home early. Went to hospital at 5PM. Baby girl born about 7. Weighs 7 lb 1 oz. So thankful. Stan came to visit.

1967

Mon – Washed clothes. Made 7 qts. pickles. Had lunch. Clean up. Folded clothes. Rained. Went to Haines’ for order.

Tue – Ironed clothes. Went to bank & store. Sewed Julie’s dress. Stan went for glasses & to see Pap. I went to bookmobile & bread store.

Wed – Carol went to Southland. Got material. Went shopping. Special sales. Bought Frank jacket. Took boys for Night Owl sales. Got hot dogs.

Thu – Washed clothes. Carol & Jane went to town. Took Ivan & Frank to Southland. Got hot dogs. Went to Bartoletta’s. Went to Tops (-3)

Fri – Rained in kitchen. Mopped early in morn. Peeled apples. Made apple & berry pies. Fixed beef roast. Stan & I went to hospital to see Pap. Stopped to see Mom & Caroline. Took pie & cucumbers.

Sat – Stan’s day off. Fixed Ford & took it for inspection. Sliced cucumbers. Cleaned kitchen. Carol & Jane went to town. Picked & fixed green beans. Went to K-Mart for film.

Sun – Went to SS. Took Julie. Played piano. Took movies of Julie opening presents & walking. Made pickles. Went to Hatfield’s. Bill H. from Calif. Stopped at Dad’s then Mom’s.

1968

Wed – Washed clothes. Washed blankets, mattress covers, etc. form our beds. Went to store. Took kids swimming. Stan took kids to game (Bluejays 4 – Orioles 1). Went to Midnight sale. Got bath.

Thu – Kids all helped me clean house. Washed clothes. Made special cookies for Bill. Stan took kids to ballgame (Dave, Frank & their friends). Bill & Carol came in about 9:00. Picked kids up after game.

Fri – Tired. Went to store. Grandpa came out. Bill’s luggage came. Played records. Relaxed at home, knitted & had watermelon. Bill went out with Malone.

Sat – Humid. Washed clothes. Went to Busy Beaver. Stan chipped block & re-laid block in front. Went to store. Played cards. Learned double deck pinochle.

Sun – Beautiful day. Stan worked on framework for front steps and walk. Carol took Bill around. Played cards.

Mon – Washed & IRONED. Swept up sand. Cut out material. Went to Sears & Acme. Stan worked on layout of walks. Played cards with Bill. Carol told about Bill & Francie.

Tue – Tired. Went to Sears to exchange trousers. Baked cake. Took Frank & Ivan to dentist. Got kids from swimming. Stan worked on front. Knitted & watched TV.

July 17 - July 23 1964-1968

1964

Fri – Hot day. Sewed another blouse for Carol. Kids squirted the hose. Elaine had music lesson. Went to see Bill in even. Bought milk shakes. Talked with Mrs. Iames. Bill H. called.

Sat – Baked a cake. Went to store. Children cleaned the cellar. Made chicken salad. Called the doctor about Bill. Cleaned house. Children got baths.

Sun – Went to SS. Taught beginners. Very hot day. Made potato salad. Bob & Fred Brown came out. Stayed for lunch. Played cards. Had picnic supper. Went to even. Service. Played piano.

Mon – Washed clothes. Pastor Pease came. Very good discussion. Folded clothes. Made beds. Went to store. Got material for Elaine’s blouse. Played cards.

Tue – Dad came. Went to P. Parenthood with rash, to go back next week. Eloise Kearns called. Wants me to play for next Monday’s program. Hot day. Mary called. Picked beans. Stan & Carol cut grass. Bill H. came out. Dave had game (won 11-2) Bill called.

Wed – Hot humid. Velma Bell called. Stan went to work late. Made jelly. Finished Elaine’s blouse. Stan went to see Bill. I went to S. Center. Poured down rain. Defrosted refrigerator.

Thu – Dave took music lesson. Washed hair & washed clothes. Rained in afternoon. Yarn came. Started 2^nd sleeve of Carol’s sweater. Ironed. Dave had game (Orioles won 10-9). Took D-E-F-G to drive-in. Saw “Chalk Garden”. Home early.

1965

Sat – Dad came. Mixed up paint & painted Carol’s bedroom. Cleaned windows & floor. Watched TV. Kids got baths. Stan got Bill.

Sun – Went to SS and stayed for church (alone). Stopped at store. Read paper. Fixed chicken. Picked corn, cucumbers, beans. Sliced cucumbers. Mom called. Hamel called. Baked brownies.

Mon – Summer school. Made pickles. Hamel & son came. Carol’s furniture was delivered. I washed clothes. Ironed. Watched TV. Got Bill from work.

Tue – Summer school. Hamel came again to work on bathroom. Bought floor boards & wallboard. Carol & I went to Eastland. Bill’s yarn & new bathtub came. Started Bill’s sweater. Went to bookmobile. Stan played cards. Kids slept out.

Wed – Summer school. Went to store. Knitted. Took Carol & Susan Mozingo to Pirate ladies night. Lost (1-0). David & Frank had game. Won (5-4)

Thu – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed. Tops meeting.

Fri – Summer school. Kids helped me clean house. Stan worked upstairs. I weeded the hill. Hamel finished up. Dave & Frank had game. Won (8-0)

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Relaxed. Played cards. Fixed fried chicken. Dad called. Picked beans. Just enough for supper. Watched TV. Went down to see Joe Ramsey.

Mon – Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Watered trees. Kids helped. Went to store.

Tue – Rained. Ironed clothes. Baked cake. Stan checked old Ford brakes. Relaxed outside.

Wed – Watched TV. Elaine baked cookies. Went to store in evening.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Changed sheets. Baked rolls. Elaine helped. Stan & I went to store to cash check. Wrote checks.

Fri – Slept late. Kids helped me clean house. Relaxed. Stan went to bank for deposit.

Sat – Slept late. Played cards. Took old Ford to get muffler. Waited 2 hrs. Stan came to get me and said to forget it. Home again. Watched TV. Kids got baths.

1967

Mon – Washed clothes. Took Harry swimming. Greg forgot pass. Went to Sears. Got birthday presents for Beth & Jay. Ivan went to party. David broke dining room window. Stan got glass cut. Cut out & sewed Julie’s dress.

Tue – Slept late. Went to store. Took kids swimming. Picked beets from garden. Ironed. Mended clothes. Mom called. Took walk. Watered garden.

Wed – Sewed Julie’s dress and panties. Took kids swimming. Carol went shopping. Stan went with kids to game. Jayhawks 10 – Parrots 3. Last home game. Had picnic.

Thu – Stan’s vacation. Washed clothes. Stan worked on wall. Folded & ironed. Fell through (almost) outside step broke. Went to TOPS (-1). Stopped at store.

Fri – Stan put up mailbox. Kids helped clean house. Kids helped Stan with dirt pile. Carol, Jane, Dave & Frank went to ballgame. Pirates 9 – Astros 1. Wrote to Elaine.

Sat – Made cupcakes & potato salad. Took Ford for inspection. Took kids to children’s zoo. Went to Mary’s. Carol stayed home with Julie. Stopped at hospital to see Pap. Kids showed movies.

Sun – Went to SS with Ivan. Stan drained well to water garden. Stan & kids worked on dirt pile. Picked cucumbers. Sliced for pickles. Made a batch of home made root beer.

1968

Wed – Washed clothes. Ironed. Carol took car to go to double header after work. Stan laid block. Sewed dress. Read magazine.

Thu – Went to store. Very hot. Went to K-Mart & White Cross. Kids worked on dirt at side of house. Stan took kids to ballgame. Harry pitched (Jayhawks 9 – Hawks 4)

Fri – Children helped me clean house. Cleaned out all kitchen cupboards. Stan didn’t feel good. Didn’t lay block. Cleaned kitchen.

Sat – Went to bank & store. Stan worked on block. Carol went shopping. Francie came for supper. Had spaghetti. Washed clothes.

Sun – Fried doughnuts. Baked cake. Stan finished block on front. Made stuffing for chicken. Went to see Mom at hospital. Then visited Pap and then Dad.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed & put away clothes. Kids worked on dirt in front of house. Stan took kids to game Orioles 5 – Hawks 4. Went to store.

Tue – Washed hair. Made me dress and Elaine shorts. Carol took car & went to Pirate ballgame. Stan & I went to “Pajama Game”. Could be better.

July 10 - July 16, 1964-68

1964

Fri – Ironed. Took G & F & C to dentist. Went to store. Bought Bill transistor. Went to see Bill. Dad & Mary came too. Fixed supper. Stan & I went to drive in. Saw “Oklahoma” and “South Pacific”.

Sat – Tired. Made breakfast & went to bed. Fixed lunch & worked on beans. Put up 10 qts. Stan worked on digging bigger hole for grease trap. Went to see Bill. Met a nice family there. Drove Mr. Budday home.

Sun – Went to SS and stayed for church. Met Rev. Pease for first time. Rainy day. Bob H. and friends came. Knitted. Played piano. Called Bill on phone. Watched TV.

Mon – Muddy & damp. Didn’t wash clothes. Cleaned house. Eve. Stan went to see Bill. I went to store. Bought Greg new tennis shoes. New material for blouses for Carol.

Tue – Dad came. Planted flowers. I washed clothes. Dad worked upstairs. I folded clothes. Rained. Worked on beans.

Wed – Washed hair. Ironed. Picked & fixed beans. Canned 10 jars. Baked pies. Took Carol & Jane and went shopping.

Thu – Sewed Carol’s blouse. Carol had party at Janes’ (8 girls). Washed clothes. Ironed. Kids washed cars. Washed kitchen windows & hung curtains. Stan went to see Bill. Watched TV.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Went to Busy Beaver. Bought rain spouts & lumber. Went to Haines’ for order. Stan & I went to shopping center for texture paint. Lost Ivan. Policeman found him.

Sun – Went to SS. Taught class. Read paper & relaxed. Stan measured for trim lumber. Picked cucumbers from garden. Relaxed & watched TV. Stan called Mom.

Mon – Summer school. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Folded. Stan & I went to Meadows. Had a good time.

Tue – Summer school. Ironed clothes. Went to McKeesport lumber yard. Got wood for window sills, etc. Picked beans & cucumbers. Watched TV.

Wed – Summer school. Went to store & Penneys. Lost Ivan again. Cut out shorts for Carol. Took kids to Fireman parade. Brought pop home.

Thu – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed. Picked beans & beets. Washed kitchen windows. Watched TV. Got Bill home from work. Kids slept out.

Fri – Summer school. Went to store. Had kids help me clean house. Picked & fixed beans. Watched TV. Took bath. Kids slept out. Stan got Bill.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Read book of Intern. Gave Ivan, Harry bathes. Fixed roast. Played “66”.

Mon – Washed clothes. Took Elaine & Harry swimming. Went to store. Picked beans for supper. Stan went bowling. Watched TV.

Tue – Ironed clothes. Laura Dee called. Went to Dr. Went to Eastland for birthday presents. Went to store. Stan worked on living room couch. Mom called. Kate arrived safe.

Wed – Washed hair. Took new Ford for inspection. Started to walk home. Mr. Willard picked me up. Kate, Joe, Tom, Mom & Pap came out. Showed them new bathroom. Went to get Ford. Not inspected. Got new brake shoes.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Humid. Fixed supper. Went to store. Stan took Carol to ballgame. Rain. Pirates won (10-4). Home late. Ironed & mended.

Fri – Slept late. Made rolls & cake. Cooler day. Elaine & I went to store.

Sat – Stan’s day off. Kids helped me clean house. Stan worked on back brake shoes (Ford wagon). Big job. Watched TV. Mom called.

1967

Mon – Washed clothes. Hung outside. Took kids swimming. Carol took Jane to Susy’s. Ironed. Stan went to ballgame. Bluejays 18 – Jayhawks 0. Hoed garden.& front. Dad called – Aunt Lavina here.

Tue – Went to store. Kids helped clean house. Fixed big dinner. Aunt Lavina, Uncle Ray, Dad & Mary came for dinner. Showed movies & slides. All went well.

Wed – Took kids swimming. Went shopping. Stan went to ball game & took pictures. Orioles 5 – Jayhawks 4.

Thu – Washed clothes. Paid Earned Tax & went to Krogers. Folded clothes. Ironed. Went to TOPS(-4). Left early. Elaine packed.

Fri – Took Elaine in to Dad’s. She left on vacation with Uncle Ray. Carol went to National Carbide Die. Cleaned kitchen & bedroom. Went to dentist. Stan & I went to see Pap at hospital. Stopped to see Mom. Jayhawks 5 – Hawks 4. Got Bill at 2:30 AM.

Sat – Bill home. Fixed French Toast. Baked cookies & cream puffs. Bill brought Francine for supper. Carol taught us new card game. Started Julie’s yellow sweater.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS. Drove Bill to pick up ride. Gave boys haircuts & washings. Carol washed car. Stan went to Hospital to see Pap. Stopped to see Mom. Wrote Elaine. Kids got baths.

1968

Wed – Washed clothes. Took Ivan swimming. Went to Acme. Rained. Got Ivan early. Went to see Mom. Stopped to visit Dad. Frank had game. (Orioles 4 – Hawks 4)

Thu – Made big batch galumpkies. Made cream puffs. Kids went swimming. Rained. Went to Thorofare & Clabers. Got Ivan ambulance cause he was sick. Bill H. came out.

Fri – Cleaning day. Cleaned bedroom & kitchen. Humid. John Custine came. Poured rain. Cement truck came. Poured footers. Stan took kids to ballgame (Jayhawks 15 – Cardinals 4). Went to store.

Sat – Stan worked. Washed clothes. Carol went to ball game. (Pirates lost 3-2 in 16^th inning) Ironed & mended. Stan went to hospital to see Mom.

Sun – Stan worked on block. Baked cake. Cut & washed hair. Kids played in sand. Got baths.

Mon – Washed clothes. Went to K-Mart & Krogers. Cut out dress & apron. Stan took Fr. to game (Bluejays 16 – Orioles 4). Took back sandals to K-Mart. Went to Haines. Watered evergreen. Ivan & Julie bath.

Tue – Cut out dress. Went to store. Made pierogi & kapusta. Stan took kids to ballgame (Jayhawks 3 – Bluejays 2).

July 3 to July 9, 1964-1968

1964

Fri – Took Bill to hospital. Waited to see Dr. Home. Carol had cleaned up. I washed kitchen & bath. Went to shopping. Went on night owl shopping spree.

Sat – Slept late. Stan went to pick up barrels for “Op Mike Fike”. Cleaned up. Took kids to Grandma’s for 4^th of July celebration. Bill & Ivan stayed home with me. Picked & fixed green beans. Sewer still up.

Sun – Everyone but Ivan slept late. Didn’t go to SS or church. Fixed brunch. Went to store. Stan dug septic tank & grease trap. Played cards.

Mon – They came early to clean out sewer & septic tank. Cleaned up mess. Washed clothes. Took Bill to hospital for change of bandage. They admitted him. Stan visited him in evening. Picked berries.

Tue – Carol went to help B. School. Dad came. Ivan sick. Crying & temperature. Washed & ironed. Held Ivan. Went to store. Carol cut grass. Dave had game. Stan went to see Bill.

Wed – Straightened. Cleaned tub & sink. Cleaned the boy’s bedroom upstairs. Had lots to throw away. Baked cake. Went to see Bill. Took cake and magazines. Played cards.

Thu – Knitted. Baked rolls & cream puffs. Washed clothes. Talk to Bill on phone and didn’t go to see him. Picked beans & berries. Rained. Worked on beans.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Worked upstairs. Baked cake, made stew & spiced salad. Sewed dress. Watched TV. Kids got baths.

Sun – Went to SS. Taught lesson. Hot day. Still no rain. Hooked up hose to well. Ran dry. Made potato salad for tomorrow.

Mon - 4th July celebration at Mom’s. Stan took little kids earlier. I went in later with Carol. Bill stayed home to go to work. Stopped to see Dad’s house all painted. Nice day.

Tue – Summer school. Picked beans, beets, peaches, rhubarb & berries. Baked pies. Relaxed at home. Kids slept out. Hatfield’s came with our new sprinkler.

Wed – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed & mended. Went to store & bread store. Read & stayed up to get Bill from work.

Thu – Summer school. Took Plymouth to get brakes fixed. Audited books for school. Went to TOPS. Helen Fr queen (-2) Me pig (+2)

Fri – Summer school. Took Ford for tune up & inspection. Kids helped clean house. Ordered Carol & E built in furniture. Finished my dress. Relaxed.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Benacks had fireworks. Kids got baths. Watched ball games on TV. 106 degrees in New York. 98 degrees here. Took shower.

Mon – Very hot & humid. Made potato salad. Went to Moms. Just Ivan, Harry, Stan & I. It rained at suppertime.

Tue – Stan’s vacation over & he went back to work. Washed hair. Ironed clothes. Carol baked brownies. Played cards. Mary called.

Wed – Slept late. Baked cookies & chicken. Carol made whip-n-chill. Stan went bowling. I went to store. Felt lousy. Stan cut grass. Watched TV.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Cleaned cellar. Mopped. Relaxed in evening.

Fri – Kids helped me clean house. Ironed clothes. Cleaned kitchen. Carol, Susy, Dave & Stan went to twilight double-header. Ate early supper. Went to store. Bucs beat Mets (10-2 & 9-2).

Sat – Went to bank & store. Bill’s day off. Stan home late. Had steak. Hoed garden & front. Bill watered.

1967

Mon – Washer wouldn’t go right. Went to laundromat. Hung at home. Stan went to library. Had veal roast. Stan & I went to Mom’s and then Stella’s.

Tue – Cool & rainy. Made potato salad. Relaxed & read. Carol had Jane & cousin up for supper. Jane brought apple pie. Carol stayed overnight at Jane’s.

Wed – Washed hair. Ironed & mended. Kids went up to Al’s. Baked lemon & chocolate pies. Read.

Thu – Wrote checks. Went to bank & store. Elaine baked cupcakes. Went to TOPS. Queen(-1)

Fri – Changed sheets. Took kids swimming. Dave & I worked outside on plants for wall. Went to store.

Sat – Fixed Stan breakfast. Stan worked. Went to laundromat. Hung outside. Took kids swimming. Went to store. Fixed macaroni salad & fruit. Jane stayed for supper. Stan & I went to movie “Sound of Music”.

Sun – Very hot & humid. Didn’t go to SS. Lazy. Stan put new starter on washer. Called Mom. Fixed roast. It rained. Read.

1968

Wed – Washed clothes. Elaine, Patty Shuback, Julie & I went to Little’s in Squirrel Hill. Waste. Went to Southland. Got shoes for Dave & Frank. Frank had game (Bluejays 4 – Orioles 1) Frank hurt arm. Stan took him to hospital. Bill H. came out.

Thu – Dad came out. Cleaned kitchen. Baked cupcakes. Stan & Dave worked on footers for garage. Fixed soup. Dad brought watermelons & cantaloupe. Stayed home. Called Mom.

Fri – Stan didn’t go to work. Figured out money. Stan & kids worked on footer. Went to bank & store. Picked cherries at Mrs. Iames. Pitted cherries.

Sat – Put slag around in footers. Took car to get inspected. Carol went shopping. Stan got reinforcing rods. Went to store. Went to see Mom (sick). Stopped to see Dad.

Sun – Hoed garden. Stan & Dave worked on footers. Went to Versharons. Got evergreens. Planted & watered them. Made home made root beer. Bill called. Kids got baths.

Mon – Block was delivered. Washed clothes. Tried mangle. Ugh! Washed hair. Took kids swimming. Got Stan lumber. Carol worked over. (Parrots 5 – Orioles 1)

Tue – Hot day. Read. Went to store – Acme. Took kids swimming. Got Stan lumber. Ripped out sleeve of Ivan’s sweater to make longer. Watered evergreens. Stan worked on footer. Got Carol at shopping center. (Jayhawks 15 – Parrots 9)
