July 3 to July 9, 1964-1968

1964

Fri – Took Bill to hospital. Waited to see Dr. Home. Carol had cleaned up. I washed kitchen & bath. Went to shopping. Went on night owl shopping spree.

Sat – Slept late. Stan went to pick up barrels for “Op Mike Fike”. Cleaned up. Took kids to Grandma’s for 4^th of July celebration. Bill & Ivan stayed home with me. Picked & fixed green beans. Sewer still up.

Sun – Everyone but Ivan slept late. Didn’t go to SS or church. Fixed brunch. Went to store. Stan dug septic tank & grease trap. Played cards.

Mon – They came early to clean out sewer & septic tank. Cleaned up mess. Washed clothes. Took Bill to hospital for change of bandage. They admitted him. Stan visited him in evening. Picked berries.

Tue – Carol went to help B. School. Dad came. Ivan sick. Crying & temperature. Washed & ironed. Held Ivan. Went to store. Carol cut grass. Dave had game. Stan went to see Bill.

Wed – Straightened. Cleaned tub & sink. Cleaned the boy’s bedroom upstairs. Had lots to throw away. Baked cake. Went to see Bill. Took cake and magazines. Played cards.

Thu – Knitted. Baked rolls & cream puffs. Washed clothes. Talk to Bill on phone and didn’t go to see him. Picked beans & berries. Rained. Worked on beans.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Worked upstairs. Baked cake, made stew & spiced salad. Sewed dress. Watched TV. Kids got baths.

Sun – Went to SS. Taught lesson. Hot day. Still no rain. Hooked up hose to well. Ran dry. Made potato salad for tomorrow.

Mon - 4th July celebration at Mom’s. Stan took little kids earlier. I went in later with Carol. Bill stayed home to go to work. Stopped to see Dad’s house all painted. Nice day.

Tue – Summer school. Picked beans, beets, peaches, rhubarb & berries. Baked pies. Relaxed at home. Kids slept out. Hatfield’s came with our new sprinkler.

Wed – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed & mended. Went to store & bread store. Read & stayed up to get Bill from work.

Thu – Summer school. Took Plymouth to get brakes fixed. Audited books for school. Went to TOPS. Helen Fr queen (-2) Me pig (+2)

Fri – Summer school. Took Ford for tune up & inspection. Kids helped clean house. Ordered Carol & E built in furniture. Finished my dress. Relaxed.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Benacks had fireworks. Kids got baths. Watched ball games on TV. 106 degrees in New York. 98 degrees here. Took shower.

Mon – Very hot & humid. Made potato salad. Went to Moms. Just Ivan, Harry, Stan & I. It rained at suppertime.

Tue – Stan’s vacation over & he went back to work. Washed hair. Ironed clothes. Carol baked brownies. Played cards. Mary called.

Wed – Slept late. Baked cookies & chicken. Carol made whip-n-chill. Stan went bowling. I went to store. Felt lousy. Stan cut grass. Watched TV.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Cleaned cellar. Mopped. Relaxed in evening.

Fri – Kids helped me clean house. Ironed clothes. Cleaned kitchen. Carol, Susy, Dave & Stan went to twilight double-header. Ate early supper. Went to store. Bucs beat Mets (10-2 & 9-2).

Sat – Went to bank & store. Bill’s day off. Stan home late. Had steak. Hoed garden & front. Bill watered.

1967

Mon – Washer wouldn’t go right. Went to laundromat. Hung at home. Stan went to library. Had veal roast. Stan & I went to Mom’s and then Stella’s.

Tue – Cool & rainy. Made potato salad. Relaxed & read. Carol had Jane & cousin up for supper. Jane brought apple pie. Carol stayed overnight at Jane’s.

Wed – Washed hair. Ironed & mended. Kids went up to Al’s. Baked lemon & chocolate pies. Read.

Thu – Wrote checks. Went to bank & store. Elaine baked cupcakes. Went to TOPS. Queen(-1)

Fri – Changed sheets. Took kids swimming. Dave & I worked outside on plants for wall. Went to store.

Sat – Fixed Stan breakfast. Stan worked. Went to laundromat. Hung outside. Took kids swimming. Went to store. Fixed macaroni salad & fruit. Jane stayed for supper. Stan & I went to movie “Sound of Music”.

Sun – Very hot & humid. Didn’t go to SS. Lazy. Stan put new starter on washer. Called Mom. Fixed roast. It rained. Read.

1968

Wed – Washed clothes. Elaine, Patty Shuback, Julie & I went to Little’s in Squirrel Hill. Waste. Went to Southland. Got shoes for Dave & Frank. Frank had game (Bluejays 4 – Orioles 1) Frank hurt arm. Stan took him to hospital. Bill H. came out.

Thu – Dad came out. Cleaned kitchen. Baked cupcakes. Stan & Dave worked on footers for garage. Fixed soup. Dad brought watermelons & cantaloupe. Stayed home. Called Mom.

Fri – Stan didn’t go to work. Figured out money. Stan & kids worked on footer. Went to bank & store. Picked cherries at Mrs. Iames. Pitted cherries.

Sat – Put slag around in footers. Took car to get inspected. Carol went shopping. Stan got reinforcing rods. Went to store. Went to see Mom (sick). Stopped to see Dad.

Sun – Hoed garden. Stan & Dave worked on footers. Went to Versharons. Got evergreens. Planted & watered them. Made home made root beer. Bill called. Kids got baths.

Mon – Block was delivered. Washed clothes. Tried mangle. Ugh! Washed hair. Took kids swimming. Got Stan lumber. Carol worked over. (Parrots 5 – Orioles 1)

Tue – Hot day. Read. Went to store – Acme. Took kids swimming. Got Stan lumber. Ripped out sleeve of Ivan’s sweater to make longer. Watered evergreens. Stan worked on footer. Got Carol at shopping center. (Jayhawks 15 – Parrots 9)
