Wed- Weeded & planted grass seed. Washed clothes. Made chicken soup. Felt lousy. Stan picked up car. Carol went to see about wig. Blue Birds 12 – Jay hawks 8. Knitted.

Thu – Hot & humid. Took it easy. Kids had ballgame. Orioles 7 – Hawks 2. Pat Monahan & Roxy stopped for Carol (school). Visited.

Fri –Cleaned kitchen. Kids did their cleaning. Harry went swimming at Clairton. Went to store. Baked cup cakes.

Sat – Made potato salad & iced cup cakes. Carol took kids to park. Stan, Elaine & I came later. West View – Mellon Bank picnic. Carol & Jane came home later.

Sun – Stan had to work. Read paper. Went to Haines. Carol went to Janey’s for picnic. Cut grass & watered. Took kids to drive-in. Saw “Green Slime” & “Kenner”. Dave, Greg, Harry, Ivan & me.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Stan went to game. Blue Jays 8 – Jay Hawks 2. Went to store.

Tue – Carol took car. Cut grass. Greg started to swell with poison ivy. Stan home sick. Wrote Bill’s versus & wrapped presents. Orioles 1 – Blue Jays 0.

1970

Thu – Washed clothes. Men dug up front road. Wendy came. Pierced ears. Weeded. Dave & Frank put in grass plugs. Kids had game. Mrs. Benack brought clothes.

Fri –Cool & rainy. Julie sick. Sorted clothes. Kids cleaned. I cleaned kitchen. Went to store. Kids got caught in rain at gun club (afternoon). Chopped veg. & baked cup cakes.

Sat – Iced cup cakes. Made potato salad. Carol took kids, Hopi & Jane. Frank, Dave, Stan & I came in Firebird to Mellon Bank picnic. Had good time.

Sun – Nice day. Kids packed lunch. D, F, G & H went to last game at Forbes Field – double header (Pirates 3 – Cubs2 then 4-1). Carol pasted flowers in bedroom. Elaine went to see “Woodstock”.

Mon – Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Carol got summons. Carol & Greg for supper. Hoed. Boys took up rug. Stan & kids beat out the dirt.

Tue – Got shampoo & scrubber. Cleaned the rug & couch. Went to store.

Wed – Hot & humid. Cleaned up stairs & floor. Varnished. Rested. Put second coat on stairs after everyone was asleep.

1971

Fri – Kids cleaned house. Tried to get Dentist for Ivan. Elaine went to Andrea’s. Cleaned kitchen. Frank went swimming. Carol dated Jim Savage. Greg came out too. Went to store. Chopped veg. For potato salad.

Sat – Made potato salad & brownies. Washed clothes. Carol took kids to West View. Stan & I brought supper out. Ate with Diane Hubiak & family. B, D, E & F stayed home.

Sun – Hot. Stan went to Carbidie golf party. Ironed & put away clothes. Watered trees & garden. Bill H. & Bruce came out. Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Dave painted Jane’s fence.

Mon – Hot & humid. Washed clothes. Ironed.

Tue – Hot (94). Made chicken salad & jello salad. Cut out sundress. Lazy. Andrea came over in eve. Watched “Spiral Staircase” on TV.

Wed – Made spaghetti sauce in morning. Straightened house. Relaxed in kids pool. Stan & I went to see “South Pacific” at White Barn Theater. Steve Paulack in lead.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Slight rain. Greg & Harry had game. Ivan had game. Went to Frank’s game for short time. Drove in to get Carol.

1972

Sun – Read paper. Visited Mrs. Iames. Stan got ready. Took Julie, Ivan & Frank to Aunt Caroline’s. I took H, G & Dave. Bill & Elaine worked. Visited with Cas & family and whole gang.

Mon – Washed clothes. Weeded strawberries. Transplanted marigolds. Cut front grass. Dave helped. Trimmed hosta & evergreens. Baked cake.

Tue – Went to Eastland. Got Datsun hub cap. Kids cleaned & mopped cellar. Kids cut back grass. Went to store. Elaine went to Pitt. Stan & I cut grass. Kids had cook out & slept out.

Wed – Washed clothes. Cleaned house. Washed hair. Elaine, Dave & Bill went to see about Corvair (sold). Bill & Frank went to shop. Elaine worked. Datsun got tune-up.

Thu – Cut out dress & apron. Boy came about Firebird & showed Chrysler. Made deal. Dave & Elaine put money down on Ford. Baked cake.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to store. Went to Foodland for turkey. Cleaned. Iced cake. Bill H. stopped out. Chopped mushrooms, celery. Salesman came for Elaine. Pots.

Sat – Nice day. Fixed turkey & potatoes. Went to South Park. Saw Frank’s all-star game. Hot. Cas, Shirley & kids with Mary & Judy came out. Had nice dinner. Kids buildt fire. Visited.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Mended. Carol called. Worked on weeds in front. Dave worked 1 day at J & L.

Tue – Read. Washed clothes again. Hot day. Ivan cut front grass. Frank had game. Boys delivered (CTDS). Kids cut back grass. Weeded. Went to store. Made pumpkin cookies.

Wed – Made cheese cake. Worked on list. Typed envelopes. Trimmed front evergreens. Went to K-Mart. Got boys sandals.

Thu – Washed clothes. Mended. Weeded back hill. Dave scraped away dirt from bottom stones. Dave took kids to ballgame. Rain. Got cool. Typed envelopes.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to bank & store. Cleaned kitchen. Scrubbed bathroom tiles. Went to K-Mart. Got new shower curtain. Visited Mrs. Iames.

Sat – Stan had to work. Washed clothes. Mr. Kopinski stopped (World Book). Frank had game (pitched couple innings). Played cards. Went to store. Got Dave lunch bucket.

Sun – Nice day. Dave drove kids to ball game. Pirates double header. Dave had 1^st day work J & L. Elaine & Bill went to picnic. Just 4 for supper. Weeded garden. Typed invoices & monthly bills.

June 18 - June 24, 1969-1973

1969

Wed- Washed clothes. Ironed. Game rained out. Watched dragon seed on TV.

Thu – Baked oatmeal cookies. Knitted. Kids went to ball game. Weeded. Dave cut front grass. Orioles 3 – Parrots 1.

Fri – Washed clothes. Went to bank & store. Elaine fixed supper. Went to town. Met Carol. Had dinner at China town. Went to Gimbels warehouse sale. Bought radio.

Sat – Stan worked. Carol & I went early to Hornes warehouse sale. Carol got stereo, I got lawn mower. Went to store. Stan, Julie, Ivan & I went to Linda’s graduation.

Sun – Read paper. Stan worked on front walk. Gave boys hair cuts & washed heads. Visited Mrs. Iames. Rained. Kids got baths.

Mon – Washed clothes. Sand came. Set up pool. Carol & I went to Eastland May Sterns – disgusting. Took corvair for repairs.

Tue – Sewed. Kids tried out new swimming pool. Wrote versus for Bill’s birthday. Orioles 4 – Hawks 1. Called because of rain. Went to K-Mart & then to town to get Carol.

1970

Thu – Rain. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Went to carnival at Elders. Went to store. Wrote to Bill.

Fri – Washed kitchen windows & curtains. Cleaned cellar windows. Went to store & dentist. Cleaned kitchen. Cooler.

Sat – Kids cleaned house. Dave & Stan helped Mary move. Loaded truck. Washed clothes.

Sun – Made strawberry & cream pies. Rained. Pap, Dad & Mary came for supper. Had roast beef, pot., peas & rolls. Bill H. came out.

Mon – Washed clothes. Burned rubbish. Ironed. Gave boys & Stan haircuts. Washed hair & kids got baths.

Tue – Up early. Made cake – fixed potatoes. Took boys & Julie & went for trip. Went to Fort Necessity, Lake Yough & Roundhill farm. Kids had ball game (Orioles 6 – Hawks 1). Elaine helped Mrs. O. Stan got Carol.

Wed – Elaine helped Mrs. O. Cut out robe (me) & Elaine’s skirt. Sewed robe. Went to Acme & Sears. Bought grass plugs.

1971

Fri – Dave drove Stan to work. Went to bank & stores. Kids cleaned house. Danny wanted Frank to sleep out. Argued. Stan talked to him.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan fixed swimming pool. Carol went to town to get hair cut. Carol dated Jim. Dave, Stan & I played cards. Hot. Kids cut grass.

Sun – Very hot & humid. Stan got socks, underwear & slacks. Carol went to Ohio Pyle. Greg & Harry went to double header. Stan put in stripping & I planted petunias. Frank had game. Dave & Elaine went to LRY.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Went to K-Mart. X-changed Stan’s trousers. Got yarn. Started afghan for Julie. Stan visited Pap & I visited Dad. Got Carol from school.

Tue – Kids cleaned cellar. Baked cake. Stan, Bill & Jim Hudzick played golf. Took Harry & Frank to get new tennis shoes. Went to Southland. G & H had game. Sweeper man came. Frank slept out.

Wed – Baked blueberry & lemon meringue pies. Had lunch clean-up. Dave took G, H & Ivan to South Park. Elaine sewed shorts. Carmen H. came to see her (too old). Frank & Ivan had games. Hoed. Gave Stan haircut.

Thu – Washed clothes. Fixed pudding cream pie. Elaine worked on long pants. Frank had friends over. Stayed overnight.

1972

Sun – Nice day. Stan got cassette tape recorder. Took Elaine to Pitt. Went to Pap’s & then to Dads. Kids swam. Had chicken. Went swimming. Stan hoed garden. Weeded front. Went to Mrs. Iames.

Mon – Stan on vacation. Washed clothes. Stan hung awning. Went to store. Stan helped me cut front grass.

Tue – Went with Stan to Latrobe. Stopped at Greensburg. Signed for Datsun. Kids cleaned cellar. Started to rain. Covered kitchen chairs.

Wed – Rain. Finished chairs. Boys & I cleaned out their rooms & behind eaves. Stan fixed cellar window & puttied living room window. Bonnie H. came out. Took home clothes & trains.

Thu – Rain. Stan & Bill went to see Clairton Tool Dressing. Washed clothes. Baked cho. chip cookies. Bruce here. Got Elaine from Pitt. Stan got milk & oil change in Datsun. Poured rain (cold).

Fri – More rain. Roads closed. Latrobe & Harrisburg flooded. Cool. Fixed French toast brunch. Went to store. Carol & Jim came out. Worked on Plymouth. Bill & Dave worked night turn.

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan went to shop. Made cherry pies. Made eye of round roast. Good. Had Butch for supper. Carol called. Sold her corvettes.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Helped kids cut front grass. Started back. Went to K-Mart. Harry went to Kennywood.

Tue – Hot & humid. Slept late. Bill got late start. Kids cut grass. Went to Grant City & Krogers. Elaine went to see “Pink Floyd”. I cut grass. Kids had games.

Wed – Washed clothes. Sewed & finished my shorts & top. Worked on berry bushes. Brought up filing cabinets to bedroom. Stan worked xtra long day. Humid.

Thu – Took Ivan & Julie to dental clinic. Ivan finished corrective. Poured rain. Cut out Carol’s dress. Dave got flat tire. Car wouldn’t start (ground cable). Worked on invoices. Packed 1^st shipment for CTDS.

Sat – Stan & I went to Blue Knob Resort. Nice trip. Dave took kids to South Park. Called Marion. Played cards.

June 11 - June 17, 1969-1973

Wed- Washed clothes. Dave rode around looking for job. Elaine helped Mrs. Iames. Went to Foodland. Stan played golf. Watered lawn. Knitted.

Thu – Finished my dress. Finished knitting Stan’s sweater. Washed it. Orioles 5 – Blue Jays 9. Carol took car for school. (zipper stuck). Took back.

Fri – Washed clothes. Took kids to ball field. Killed puppy. Went to store. Washed windows & put up clean drapes.

Sat – Washed clothes. Ironed. Went to store. Stan swept & mopped cellar. Cleaned kitchen. Had Carol’s birthday supper. Sang happy birthday at start of rain storm.

Sun – Made cream puffs & rolls. Dad & Mary came out early with Pap. Had meat loaf dinner. All went well.

Mon – Washed clothes. Ironed. Started to take apart Stan’s sweater. Jay Hawk & Hawks tie (9). Weeded front.

Tue – Carol took car. Cut out Carol’s dress. Sewed. Tore about Stan’s sweater. Orioles 7 – Parrots 6. Kids slept out.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Went to dentist & store. Stan played ball at work (Salaried 27 – Hourly 8). Cut our Carol’s suit (bathing).

Fri – Slept late. Elaine & Terri went to town. Cleaned kitchen. Kids cleaned. Swept & mopped cellar. Sewed.

Sat – Slept late. Washed clothes. Went to store. Carol & Stan patched bedroom wall. Elaine went swimming. Cut grass. Bill H. came. Elaine babysat. Dave took kids to drive-in. “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid”

Sun – Ironed clothes & straightened. Kids cut grass. Carol painted. Aunt Lavina & Uncle Ray came out. Showed slides of their trip. Had quick supper & watermelon. Elaine & Dave went to LRY. Sewed bathing suit.

Mon – Rain. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Went to store & paint store. Fixed spaghetti & garlic bread. Elaine iced cake. Carol opened presents. Got clothes. J came with record. Visited.

Tue – Cleaned out all kitchen cupboards. Did the mending. Stan & I went to South Hills. Went to show “Ann & a Thousand Days”. Carol showed birthday presents.

Wed – Hot & humid. Went to store. Made macaroni salad. Wendy & her mom came for Bill’s clothes. Stan worked late. Just relaxed. Dave went to South Hills Village for jobs.

Fri – Kids cleaned house & cut grass. Cleaned kitchen. Worked on verses. Stan went to Carbide Golf dinner. Cut out & sewed apron & pot holders. Planted flowers.

Sat – Rain. Washed clothes. Wrapped presents. Ironed. Frank had game. Merry Jo McKee came over with Karen & baby. Bill H. & Bruce came out. Frank stayed overnight at Grese.

Sun – Rain storms. Baked rolls & made potato soup. Sewed apron & pot holder. Stan worked on upstairs insulation. Elaine, Dave & Andrea went to LRY.

Mon – Washed clothes. Elaine & Andrea went to town. Home late. Ironed. Went to store. Stan went to Monroeville tournament. (Oberg bowling).

Tue – Baked pie shell & cake. Kids cleaned cellar. Frank had practice. Bill worked. Dave drove Elaine & Andrea for eye test. Dave went to bookmobile. Hoed & picked strawberries. Cut front grass.

Wed – Iced Carol’s cake. Straightened house. Sweeper man cam. Bought Kirby. Greg Kiel came. Had a present for each year (21^st). Had cake & ice cream.

Thu – Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Changed sheets. Went to store for supper. Changed checking account at Union. Went to Tupperware party at Mary Jo McGee’s. Met Shirley.

Sun – Worked puzzles& read paper. Quite chilly. Weeded. Stan worked on awning. Worked on shawl. Put on fringe.

Mon – Washed clothes. Cleaned mower. Finished shawl. Cleaned living room. Dave had his car stolen. Went to get Dave. Went to store.

Tue – Rain storms. Baked cookies. Cut out Carol’s skirt. Sewed. Stan home late. Got Elaine shopping & Bill oil. Went to dairy. Rick came out. Showed slides.

Wed – Rain. Sewed Carol’s skirt. Elaine sewed her granny dress. I helped. Hot & humid. Kids had football. Kids swam. Elaine worked. Harry & Greg slept out. Harry worked on bikes.

Tue – Bill & Frank delivered. Went to store & K-Mart. Hoed & replanted corn. Got call from Greensburg on business phone.

Wed – Bill & Frank worked at shop. Cut out shorts. Made halter tops for Julie. She slept over at Leslie’s. Went to store. Dave worked on list.

Thu – Washed clothes. Clipped hedge. Kids picked strawberries. Sewed. Went to store. Got material for top. Cut it out.

Fri – Tried to sew. Dave went to J & L for job. Washed clothes. Went to bank & store. Got stuck at Rexall. Bill came with jumpers. Made potato salad. Cut meat. Carol & Jim came out with tires.

Sat – Went to store. Wrote checks. Cleaned kitchen & living room. Carol & Jim came. Made shish kabob & hamburger. Good. Took shower. Played cards.

Wed- School. Carol took car. Wrote Bill. Cut out & sewed Carol’s dress. Stan went to school. Dave & I worked on wall. Jay Hawks game. Went to Foodland.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Made fresh green beans & fresh fruit. Went to Casinelli’s for pipe. Stan went back to work. Went to Dad’s to pick up Carol. Dave drove.

Fri – School. Washed kitchen. Packed lunches. Went to school for Greg’s PTA lunch. Went to store. Ironed. Orioles had game – Orioles 4 – Hawks 1. Blue Birds 11 – Jay Hawks 2.

Sat – Boys had ball practice. Carol washed clothes & went shopping. I washed & ironed. Stan worked.

Sun – Dave & I worked on hill. Planted plants. Went to Haines. Stan framed in steps. Carol went to Indiana to take Jane back.

Mon – School. Last day. Washed clothes & ironed. Made pork salad. Jay Hawks 17 – Cardinals 2. Went to town for Carol.

Tue – Carol took car. Had kids clean bedrooms. Cut out & sewed dress. Elaine cut out shorts. Blue Jays 9 – Orioles 5. Knitted.

1970

Thu – No school. Washed clothes. Went to store, K-Mart – got material. Elaine made muffins. Went visiting Helen, Dad & Hatfield’s. Kids had ballgame (Orioles 1 – Hawks 0) Wendy stopped over.

Fri – Last day of school. Ivan home. Carol had car. Sewed Carol’s dress. Elaine made potato salad. Took Ivan to hospital (swollen wasp bite). Went to store. Elaine babysat Watko’s.

Sat – Washed clothes. Carol went shopping. Kids cleaned. Greg & Harry had ball practice. Dave, Frank & Ivan went to ballgame (Pirates 7 – Dodgers 6 – 12^th inning). Elaine had forensic picnic.

Sun – Baked cake. Cool. Went to Haines. Had roast. Carol went to South Park. Stopped by police (speed & temp license). No ticket. Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Kids got baths.

Mon – Carol took car. Washed clothes. Weeded. Folded & Ironed. Weeded garden. Went to store. Wendy came. Talked.

Fri – Last day of school. Went to bank & store. Dave picked up pop. Julie hurt lip. Stan took her to hospital for stitches. Elaine & Dave went to Grad party. Cleaned walls.

Sat – Washed clothes. Made jello salad. Carol made cupcakes. Kids cleaned. Stan had to work. Made meat patties. Chopped veg. Iced cupcakes. Cleaned kitchen. Elaine had forensics picnic. Fr. had game.

Sun – Hot & humid. Made potato salad & rigatoni. Storm. Moved party to cellar & garage. All went well. Had 24. All left early. Cleaned up. Dave & Elaine had LRY.

Mon – Washed clothes. Mopped cellar. Hot & humid. Thunderstorms. Had party left-overs. Went to Southland. Elaine stayed overnight at Andrea’s.

Tue – Carol took car. Dave drove Stan to work. Dave took kids to Yough Lake. Made pierogi & kapusta. Straightened house. Greg & Harry had game. Hoed garden. Dave went to bookmobile.

Wed – Drove Stan to work. Took Julie to Homes. Hosp. to have stitches removed. Met Stan for lunch. Went to Eastland. Frank had game. Ivan had game. Transplanted front flowers.

Tue – School. Went to Valley & then store. Elaine went to Shadyside. Stan played golf. Harry had game. Took Ivan for glasses. Watched SS parade. Dave went to McGovern headquarters.

Wed – School. Went to Giant Eagle & K-Mart. Straightened. Went swimming. Took shower & washed hair. Washed Julie’s hair. Stan worked on Plymouth. Hole in gas tank.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made spaghetti sauce. Rick came out. Stan worked late. Rick & Elaine went to Playhouse. Saw “Man of La Mancha”. Rick slept over.

Fri – Last day school. Washed clothes. Kids swam Rick took pictures. Stan had Carbide golf party. Showed slides & movies.

Sat – Washed clothes. Made French toast. Elaine went on picnic. Stuck. Rick Briggs drove out to South Park. Car not in gear. Rick drove to Eleanor’s.

Thu – Last day of school. Washed clothes. Took Ivan to Dental Clinic. Kids out early. Stan went golfing. Planted zinnias. Kids cut grass.

Fri – Washed. Went to school for teacher’s lunch. Very nice. Washed living room windows & put up screens. Cleaned. Stan had Carbide golf party. Nice day. Stayed overnight. Bill went to Penn St. Got Dave.

Sat – Washed clothes (Dave’s). Kids went swimming (home). Went to store. Carol came for suntan. Picked strawberries. Made rolls & soup. Hot day. Dave sorted. Kids had game.
