January 14 - January 20, 1974-1978

1974
Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Grace P. called. Went to K-Mart. Jammed. Read paper & knitted. Stan didn’t go to Carbide Eng. (tired).
Tue – School. Called Eleanor. Straightened. Cut out Julie’s pant suit. Went to store & bank. Sewed. Stan worked on my windshield washer.
Wed- School. Washed clothes. Sewed Julie’s pants suit. Took Greg & Harry to dental clinic. Made stew in morning. Went shopping. Couldn’t find material. Warm day. Bill had accident with Datsun.
Thu – School. Stan drove Bill to hospital for X-rays. Stan took truck to work. Washed clothes. Very blue. Called Marion. Grace called. Took kids to store. Got sleds & got material.
Fri – School. Cut out coat & lining. Cleaned living room & kitchen. Julie went to Capanna’s. Got ragdoll. Carol & Jim stopped. Talked & Carol played ping pong.
Sat – Frank worked at shop with Bill. Stan got new power steering pump for Chrysler. Put in – leaks. Julie baked cake. Washed clothes. Sewed on coat. Stan worked on shop paper work.
Sun – Slept late. Made whole wheat pancakes. Nice day 55 degrees. Bruce H. stopped out (leaves for Air Force). Stan & Harry worked at shop. Marion called. Cathy Ziegler drove me to store. Sewed.
1975
Tue – School. Stan didn’t feel good. Took my car. Wrote letters - Dave, Bill, Harold. Cold +8 degrees. Marion called. Watched TV. Got letter about free lunches.
Wed – School. Baked cookies & cake. Stan signed up. Food stamps came. Went to bank & store. Made stuffed round steak & baked potatoes. Visited Iames & got paper.
Thu – School. Put clothes to wash. Got Julie & Frank & took them to McKeesport clinic. Home late. Fixed lunch. Took them back & went to store. Dr. called about operation for Julie. Watched TV.
Fri – School. Stan & I went to TJ for meeting with Klook (about Frank). Cleaned house. Visited Iames & got paper.
Sat – Washed clothes. Stan shoveled snow. Went to bank, store. Waited for book mobile (didn’t come). Made cream puffs. Filling too soupy. Played cards. Watched TV. Made fudge.
Sun – Made filling for cream puffs. Prisilla Austin came. Carol & Jim came, too. Worked on books. Carol & Jim didn’t stay for supper. Snowed. Kids got baths.
Mon – School. Took Julie to McKeesport Hosp. for myringotomy. Snowy roads. Home for late lunch. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Stan went to Carbide Engineer. Prisilla Austin called. Bruce H. stopped.
1976
Wed – School. Made apple pies. Wrote Edna Pearson. Dave made beef stroganoff. School bus had slight accident. Carol came for supper. Had nice visit. Cut Dave’s hair.
Thu – School. Washed clothes. Wrote Daisye. Mended clothes. Made sour cream twists.
Fri – School. Cleaned house. Frank had gone back to bed. Very upsetting. Disappointed. Things no better with Frank. Watched TV and knitted.
Sat – Washed clothes. Dave worked 10:00 to 3:00. Went to store late – crowded. Uncle Bill here. Stayed for supper. Had tacos & rice krispy dessert. Played bridge & watched TV.
Sun – Read paper. Made super bowl spaghetti. Steelers won Supper Bowl X 21 to Dallas 17. Joe Namath wrong (Dallas by 10). Kids got baths.
Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Dave mopped. Went to bank & store. Changed sheets. Paid water bill & went to K-Mart. Felt blue. Dave fixed supper (thank goodness). Julie had scouts.
Tue – School. New snow. Made valance for bathroom. Mended. Made a cake and cookies. Went to drug store. Watched TV.
1977
Fri – School. Cleaned house. Wrote Elaine. Snow tires were delivered. Called Marion Zarichansky. Stan & I shoveled snow. Carol & Jim came for the golden kitten.
Sat – Called Marion. Stan & boys shoveled. Stan got snow tires on Subaru. Went to store. Dave came to get clothes. Stayed for supper. Played cards. Called Mary.
Sun – New snow. Read paper. Washed hair. Went to Clairton to visit Dave. Made meat balls & mashed potatoes. Kids worked on igloo. Very cold. Kids got baths.
Mon – Very cold (-17 degrees). School delayed 2 hrs but kids didn’t go. Marion called. Called Stella. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. High (-3 degrees). Buildt fire. Made pizza.
Tue – Up early. Listened radio. School closed. Stan took me to McKeesport Hosp. for check-up. Should have D&C. Went to store. Stan & I went to Ponderosa for supper. Watched TV.
Wed – Still no school. Slept late. Marion called. Called Eleanor. Harry had job. Dave came to shower – no water at his place. Watched TV.
Thu –First day back to school. Harry went late (tired). Washed clothes. Watched inaugural for Carter. Langley Hall at U. Pitts collapsed. Called Elaine. Dave came to shower. Stan worked on their pipes. Played cards.
1978
Sat – Greg & Harry had basketball game. Wrote to Elaine. Washed clothes. Cleaned living room. Kids went ice skating. Harry worked. Stan & I went to the store. Dave stopped. Frank & Ivan helped him. Julie stayed home – bad mood.
Sun – Slept late. Had good breakfast. Read paper. Had early supper. Chicken & stuffing. Dave came. All watched Super Bowl (Dallas 27 – Denver 10). Kids made hoagies.
Mon – School. Drove Greg to work. Went to bank & store. Went to Clairton & got tickets to concert & pd. water bill. Went to Kroger & Gold Circle. Watched TV.
Tue – School. Just Harry went. Couldn’t get Pontiac out of driveway. Greg didn’t go to work. Washed clothes. Called Mary. Made stuffed peppers. Stan home early. Kids played in snow (11 inches). Started to knit boys sweater.
Wed – No school. Shoveled walks & driveway. Greg got to work. Stan felt sick. Stayed home. Made pumpkin cake. Knitted & watched TV.
Thu – School. Washed clothes. Sorted mail. Marion called. Eleanor took me to lunch at the Yorkshire. Lovely. Stan came home early & went to store – snow. Harry worked. Played cards.
Fri – No school. More snow – 12 inches. Snowed all day. Kids shoveled Subaru out. Went to hospital to play in snow. Played cards. Called Stella.
