December 24 - 31, 1969-1973 (8 days)

1969

Wed- Washed clothes. Went to store. Elaine put up x-mas decorations. Wendy & Bill here for supper. Baked cake & Mr. & Mrs. Claus mixed rolls. Napped. Woke up about 2.

Thu – Kids up at 20 minutes to 5. Opened presents about 8:30. Baked rolls. Wendy came with Bill at 2:00. Had supper here. Left to go back. Greg came.

Fri – Straightened house. Went to K-Mart & Southland. Tired. Snowed. Stan went bowling. Called Stella.

Sat – Stuffed turkey. Washed clothes. Carol & I went shopping. Greg came for supper. Stella, Caroline, Bob & boys came for evening. Dave & Carol had dates.

Sun – Carol went to church with Greg. Went to Haines. Stan & I visited Dad & his Pap. Played 66. Beat Stan 2 games.

Mon – No school. Vacation. Washed clothes. Cleaned out fire place. Had argument with Elaine. Packed suitcase. Went in to Dad’s for rest.

Tue – At Dad’s. Went to store for Mary. Cut out & sewed dress. Crocheted Carol’s hat. Called Pat Cocuzzi & Mary Narvin.

Wed – Went to town. Sewed. Crocheted. Went to Eleanor’s for steak dinner. Stan came. We went down to his Dad’s. Had rye bread & corn beef sandwiches.

1970

Thu – No school. Kids cleaned. Went to store Finished Dave’s pjs. Bought last minute gifts. Made more nut roll. Frank & Elaine helped Santa. Took pictures.

Fri – Opened presents about 9:15. Bill worked. Kids played & sold extra papers. Took pictures. Went to Dad’s & Caroline’s. Snow-bad. Greg & Diane stayed all night.

Sat – Washed clothes. Fixed turkey. Carol helped wash. Went to store. Diane & Greg helped straighten house. Cleaned turkey for tomorrow.

Sun – Put away boxes & wrappings. Read paper. Stan & I went to Woody’s for spaghetti. Carol & Greg came later. Stan & I went to Eastland. Saw “Scrooge”.

Mon – Stan home sick – cold. Washed clothes. Elaine went to town. Stan went bowling. Bullet hole in front window. Greg brought Hen out.

Tue – Went to Southland. Lunch. Went to town. Took back trouser. Ordered mirror. Elaine made lasagna. Picked up Carol from work. Relaxed.

Wed – Washed clothes. Ironed. Swept & mopped cellar. Elaine went to Andrea’s. Made list. Went to Haines.

Thu – Kids helped clean house. Cleaned kitchen. Went to Bartolotta. Greg got Don & Marion. Carol J. & Jane came. Had wonderful party. Everyone stayed overnight. Carol & gang went sled riding.

1971

Fri – Kids cleaned. Stan cleaned living room. Went to store. Waited for Carol & Jim. Watched Beethoven on TV. They came late. Exchanged presents. Carol tried on dresses. Kept one.

Sat – X-mas. Opened gifts at 8:00. Cleaned up paper. Rested (fell asleep). Baked ham. After supper, went to Caroline’s. Stopped at my Dad’s. Called Carol.

Sun – Fixed turkey. Tried to straighten up house. Went to Carol’s. Dave drove kids out to Carol’s. Had turkey dinner. Chopped left-overs. Stan rolled off.

Mon – No school. Washed clothes. Took clothes back to x-change. Got Carol new dresses. Carol & Jim stopped. Stan & I went to show. “Katch” & went to Woody’s. Nice night.

Tue – Elaine had car. Swept cellar. Dave mopped. Washed hair. Cleaned out refridg. Made fire. John Charles & Jim Lucast stopped. Bill H. came out. Talked. Dave worked night.

Wed – Went to Zaire & Eastland Kids went to Conklins. Called Eleanor. Stan home late. Wrote thank you notes. Watched TV.

Thu –Washed clothes. Folded & put away. Went to store. Rained. Dave & I went to Paydays. Got things for New Years Party.

Fri – Stan home. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen & living room. Kids cleaned. Fixed shrimp. Stan made fire. Bill H. & Bruce came out. Andrea stayed overnight. Had pizza & sandwiches.

1972

Sun – Made chicken soup for tomorrow. Cleaned kitchen. Stan got milk. Carol & Jim came with presents. Power went off. Santa came by candlelight.

Mon – X-mas. Opened gifts about 8:30. Santa forgot 2 bags. Julie got Big Wheel. Fellows shot darts. Stan fell asleep. Played cards. Dad & Mary came for lunch.

Tue – Marion called. Went to K-Mart & Barto. Made spaghetti. Dave & I went to South Hills Village. Stopped at Marions. Both asleep. Left.

Wed – Kids fighting. Bad day. Washed clothes. Kids cleaned cellar. Stuffed turkey. Dave shut off gas. Didn’t eat until 10:10 PM. Dishes late. Bill got Jaguar.

Thu – Worked on business accounts & billings. Got shower. Stan & I went with Phil Cravener to Gaslight. Nice night.

Fri – Went to store. Mended clothes. Went to bank. Wrote checks & thank you notes. Played cards.

Sat – Washed clothes. (5 loads) Kids cleaned. David took car. Fixed banana pudding. Dave & I went to State store (closed) & Paydays.

Sun – Very warm. Was to go to Carol’s. Not home. Went to Haines. David hitch-hiked to Pgh. Elaine worked. Had Smorgasbord. Just family. Fixed fondue.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept cellar & had kids mop. Rearranged. Went to store. Made chop suey. Carol & Jim came. Kaz called. Only one with outside lights. Kids put up table.

Tue – Christmas. Kids up at 5:30 & then went back to bed. Opened presents. Table tennis & winter jackets. Stan took kids to Pap’s & Caroline’s. I straightened house. Bob & Bryon H. came out.

Wed – Trouble with truck. Rain. Went to town. Crowded. Went to K-Mart. Xchanged gifts. Worked on Elaine’s footlets.

Thu – Slept late. Read story. Straightened house. Washed clothes. Had turkey dinner. Stan & I saw “The Way We Were”. Stan bought me “Wild Musk”.

Fri – Slept late. Greg went to shop. Stan took Chrysler. Bill fixed Datsun. Cleaned downstairs bath & tile. Dave & Elaine went to Great Wall. Dan Arico came. Played cards,

Sat – Stan had to work. Washed clothes. Cleaned living room & kitchen. Elaine got grades (disappointed). Went to Dysons. Played cards. Late.

Sun – Slept late. Called Carol. Went to Paydays. Went to Shop & Save. Freezing Rain. Julie not well.

Mon – Water man came (said “no water”). Stan tapped & went to shop. He picked up Hoagies. Dan Arico came. Bill & Carol bought Peking Duck. Kids made pizza. Had plenty of food. Andrea stayed overnight. Frank at Conklins.
