February 4 - February 10, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Made calls for Stan (about car loan, etc.) Made bed. Hip hurt. Buildt fire. Watched TV. Stan & Bill went for Mazda.

Tue – School. Took Ivan to dental clinic. Went to option supply & Krogers. Got in line for gas. Mailed Dave’s W2 & letter. Typed Dave’s birthday versus. Went to Southland in Mazda.

Wed- School. Straightened house. Made kapusta. Called Eleanor. Took Harry to dental clinic. Wrong one. Bumped guy’s fender. Elaine came home to wash clothes & eat. Took Elaine back. Rain.

Thu – School. Ivan home sick. Washed clothes. Went to Clairton to get gas. Got extra for Stan. Marion & Grace called. Stan & I worked on books again. Wrote checks.

Fri – School. Ivan home. Baked date & nut loaves & chocolate nut cookies. Worked on coat. Took Greg to work. Went to store. Got Tupperware. Did hem on coat. Watched TV. Frank took loaf to Lindahl’s.

Sat – Washed clothes. Cleaned living room. Elaine came by bus. Visited Lindahls (funeral). Went to Southland. Got last gift for Dave. Wrapped presents. Elaine took bus home. Ivan bathed in oatmeal.

Sun – Cleaned kitchen & bath. Called Marion. Stan got me milk. Carol & Jim came to see Mazda. Buildt fire. Snowed. Watched “Good, Bad & Ugly”.

1975

Tue – School. Told Frank to look for job. Cut out & sewed apron. Flat tire. Mr. Iames helped me. Took Ivan to Dental clinic. Snow. Stan went to West Virginia. Sewed. Sprayed oven.

Wed – School. Harry home sick. Cleaned oven. Went to Clairton. Pd mortgage. Mailed Dave’s tax forms. Got tires fixed (flat). Went to Maricini’s. Fixed supper. Scene at table.

Thu – School. Felt blue. Washed clothes. Frank didn’t go to ear clinic. Stan went to Dr. & for food stamps (5 ½ hrs). Elaine came out (bus). Picked up Harry at Vince’s& stopped at Foodland.

Fri – School. Julie home sick. Cleaned her room. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Made custard & pot roast. Went to store (Kroger & Grants).

Sat – Washed clothes. Kids cleaned. Went to store & Minnesota fabrics. Ran sweeper. Julie still sick. Played cards. Called Marion. Kids watched “Cool Hand Luke”.

Sun – All felt lousy. Had bacon & eggs. Read paper. Made 2 cherry & 1 apple pie. Made Bar BQ pork. Watched “Airport”. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Harry, Ivan & Julie home (flu). Carol called. Cut Stan & Harry’s hair. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Went to store. Stan went to Carbide Eng. for drawing. Stan sick, too.

1976

Wed – School. Tough time with Frank. Took him to manpower in Braddock. Dave made chili. Went to Oakland. Elaine & I went to Khalil’s for supper.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Freezing rain. Very bad. Knitted neck of Harry’s sweater. Made apricot chicken. Dave went for job interview – guy not there. Stan went back to shop. Watched Olympics.

Fri – School. Very icy. Made cake. Cleaned house. Made meat ball tetrazini & meatball stew. Buildt fire.

Sat – Up early. Furnace off. Went back to bed. Stan worked on furnace. Buildt fire. Washed clothes. Went to store. Kids built toboggan. Broke Emswiller’s evergreen. Watched Olympics.

Sun – Slept late. Read paper. Made cherry cake & Ivan made choc. chip cookies. Had pork & sauerkraut. Watched “Up down Staircase”. Marion called.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to store. Dave went to employment agency in McKeesport. Julie had scouts.

Tue – School. Took Frank to take manpower test. Went to store. Ripped out sleeve to Harry’s sweater. Went to PTO meeting. Very late. Mrs. Gurecka ambulance service.

1977

Fri – Felt tired. Kids helped with cleaning. Julie made brownies. Stan went to store. Marion called. Stan fixed steak. Very good. Played cards. Kids & Stan shoveled snow.

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan & I went for milk & stopped at store. Snowing. Finished knitting Julie’s sweater. Kids & I went to Marion’s. Watched “Blazing Saddles”. Cold & hard to see. Bill H. & Mary called.

Sun – Cold (-2 degrees). Slept late. Read paper. Washed hair & showered. Played cards. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs”.

Mon – Kids back to school. H & I had ½ day. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Finished sewing Julie’s sweater. Played cards.

Tue – School. HS had ½ day. Worked on buttons then buttonholes of Julie’s sweater. Had trouble with buttonholes Called Eleanor. Worked on mail.

Wed – First full day of school. Greg & Stan went to Grove City about college. I went to McKeesport to sign-up. Went to Eastland to shop. Called Mary. Robin & Bruce had baby girl. Called LaVerne.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Warmer. Stan went to Latrobe. Carol came for lunch. Chopped at ice. Fell off back steps. Frank stopped. Played cards.

1978

Sat – Took Ivan to dentist. Stopped at store. Washed clothes. Kids went to basketball & bowling. Mary stopped out. Called Elaine & Carol. Ripped out sleeve for sweater and started again. Watched final “Black Beauty”. Harry brought Sue.

Sun – Read paper. Fellows wanted to work on Pontiac. Wouldn’t start. Got dry gas. Bill H. stopped out. Had London Broil & good supper. Played cards. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Called Marion, DiPietro, Pitt & Penn State. Swept & Frank mopped.

Tue – School. Greg left early. Called Eleanor & Marion John. Tried to write story about Marion. Frank cleaned front walk. Went to milk store & store. Harry went to Sue’s (her birthday).

Wed – School. Wrote contests & letters. Called Eleanor. Did mending. Fixed chicken. Harry fasted. Stan & I went to K-Mart. New hours cause of energy shortage.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made cream puffs. Mr. DiPietro came. Tried new recipe. Meatloaf casserole. Kids had basketball game. Called Marion. Dave came. Frank helped Dave at work. Stan called Bill.

Fri – School. Called Roberta Gimpner & Marion. Cleaned house. Stan went to West Virginia. Had pot roast. Went to bank & store. Got Mrs. Iames dog food & bread.
