February 18 - February 24, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – No school. President’s day. Ivan & Harry took bike hike. Washed clothes. Baked cookies. Went to store. Stan & Bill went to AMI meeting with Dan. Won radio and speakers.

Tue – School. Took Ivan to Dental clinic. Picked up Elaine’s clothes. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Started afghan. Mended. Battery dead on Chrysler. Bill took Greg to work.

Wed- School. Straightened house. Cut meat. Stopped at K-Mart (exchanged yarn). Got kids. Took Greg & Harry to dental clinic. Got Harry’s glasses in new frame. Brought Elaine home for supper. She took bus home.

Thu – School. Made bacon & eggs. Called Marion Washed clothes. Took shower. Made cake with Dream Whip. Called about coming card party. Fixed sausage, potatoes & onions.

Fri – School. Showered. Cleaned living room, kitchen, & bedroom. Played cards. Watched TV & crocheted.

Sat – Washed clothes. Guys got awning from McGees. Kids cleaned. Stan worked on PCS for Elaine. Sold card party tickets to Mrs. Iames. Frank took car. Got letter from Dave. Fixed chicken.

Sun – Called Marion. Showered & washed hair. Fixed bacon & eggs. Made $25,000 chocolate cake. Went to store. Called Carol. Made $25,000 chicken pies. Gave haircuts. Stan buildt fire.

1975

Tue – School. Julie home. Made donuts & washed 1 load. Cleaned up. Took Ivan to Pitt Dental. Took Julie to Homestead Hosp. Got prescription & went to K-Mart. Ivan got baseball glove.

Wed – School. Julie home. Cut out her coat. Started to sew. Went to bank & store. Got food stamps. Made stuffed chicken. Went to first class at night school.

Thu – School. Took Greg & Harry to Pitt Dental. Wrote Bill & Harold. Read story in magazine. Stan went back to shop. Made Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake. Marion called.

Fri – School. Julie stayed for lunch. Sewed her coat. Cleaned house. Elaine & Don came out. Made pizza & had lemonade. She washed clothes.

Sat – Beautiful day. Washed clothes. Pruned grapes. Stan worked on gas tank on Plymouth. Took Julie & Ivan to Bill’s. Stopped at Paydays. Carol came but missed her.

Sun – Rainy. Worked on account project. Couldn’t balance. Read paper. Stan mailed form to Elaine & Unemployment. Kids got baths. Called Joe Ramsey.

Mon – School. Frank suspended again. Washed clothes. Had to drain water. Swept & mopped cellar. Moved Ivan back upstairs.

1976

Wed – School. Straightened house. Cleaned out refrigerator. Took Frank to Dimetrio’s. Frank chopped wood & I brought up bark. Nice day. Rain in evening. Dave came home from State College.

Thu – School. Stan drove Frank to work. Washed clothes. Leslie came for lunch. Carol called & Regina called. Called about GED. Stopped at K-Mart. Went to Eleanor’s. We went to funeral home (Marion John’s mother).

Fri – School. Drove Frank to work. Cleaned house. Carol came for lunch. Stan went to Youngstown. Visited Jenny. Finished Harry’s sweater. Marion called.

Sat – Stan drove Greg & Harry to Dr. Cohen for drivers exam ($20.00) Washed clothes. Picked them up. Made chocolate dessert & chili. Dave worked 5-10 at Ponderosa. Called Aunt Stella. Stan got leaflet from Ken Hollenbach.

Sun – Cooler. Took Frank to work. Sorted mail. Read paper. Watched Bob Hope movie “That Certain Feeling”. Played “Bluff” with kids. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Took Frank to work. Carol called. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Widened Stan’s trousers. Made Texas Sheet Cake. Went to Julie’s scout meeting. Got milk. Stan went back to shop.

Tue – School. Took Frank to work. Straightened house Sewed pants suit for me. Went to store & K-Mart. Marion called. Watched TV.

1977

Fri – School. Julie still home. Went to town for food stamps. Got makings for sport coat. Stan cleaned & made chili. Harry had job. Watched TV.

Sat – Marion called. Washed clothes. Elaine & Andrea came. Stan & I went to store. Hatfields stopped out – not home. Ironed clothes. Made iced tea. Played cards. Grammy awards.

Sun – Snowy. Read paper. Finished Julie’s hat mask. Elaine came & let Harry drive Honda. Didn’t stay for dinner. Had roast, baked potato, cheese cake. Dave came. No more Ponderosa. Gave hair cuts.

Mon – School. Stan went with Don B. in morning. Elaine came for lunch & started home. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Stan took me to proposed new shop. Lots of room. Played cards. Dave came to use typewriter.

Tue – School. Went to store. Cut out Stan’s sport coat. Went for new lining material. Grace Pavelko called.

Wed – School. Nice day – up to 51 degrees. Helped Dorothy Iames off the floor. Cut out lining – got stuck. Read magazines. Carol called. Not coming tomorrow so took records to Greg. Stan got milk.

Thu – School. Rain. Marion called. Washed clothes. Eleanor came. Worked on sport coat. Harry had job. Watched TV & read paper.

1978

Sat – Washed clothes. Frank had test. Stuck with Pontiac. Made cheese cake. With cherry topping & bread. Elaine & her friend Mike came for supper. Had chili. They went to Bill & Carolyn’s & Stan & I went to Clairton to hear the symphony.

Sun – Nice day but cold. Boys tried to work on car. Bill came. Didn’t start. Elaine & Mike came for lunch & started back. We all went to Ponderosa for Dave’s birthday dinner.

Mon – No school. President’s day. Felt terrible. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Kids changed sheets. Harry worked on Simca. Went to store & got Greg at work. Knitted & Watched TV.

Tue – School. Bus was late. Called Marion Zara. & Eleanor. Made pumpkin cookies & donuts. Frank went to Clairton. Frank & I worked on ice at parking place. Watched “Awakening Land”.

Wed – School. Frank went to McKeesport with Stan. Painted cellar steps. Worked on ice. Bill came to explain work on Simca. Dave stopped. Greg home early – sick.

Thu – School. Baked cake. Washed clothes. Greg home sick. Made baked beans & fresh pineapple. Went to store & milk store. Harry worked (Benacks). Dave came to dry clothes. Played cards.

Fri – School. Harry & Frank went to town in Subaru. Pontiac wouldn’t start. Greg home sick. Cleaned house. Stan worked afternoon. Harry went back to school. Called Stella. Went for walk. Julie & I & Craig D. & Bo out, too.
