1974

Mon – School. Ivan home. Cleaned snow off front walk. Went for gas & to store. Swept & mopped cellar. Stan went to Carbide End. Bill H. came out.

Tue – School. Ivan & Stan home sick. Mailed Dave’s package. Finished coat. Washed Stan & my car. Went to store. Greg & Harry worked. Read. Sorted mail.

Wed- School. Ivan & Stan home. Cut out apron. Took Greg & Harry to dental clinic. Took Mazda for 600 mile checkup. Stop at Elaine’s. Read.

Thu – School. Harry home – chest cold. Washed clothes. Made apron. Fixed valentines. Made chicken. Watched TV.

Fri – School. Called Elaine. Cleaned kitchen & living room. Went to bank & store. Wrote checks. Part came for refrigerator (wrong one).

Sat – Washed clothes. Bill & Dan worked at shop. Went to K-Mart. Pruned grape vines & trees. Bill, Carol Kamp., Dad, Stan & I went to Great Wall. Very enjoyable.

Sun – Called Marion. Buildt fire out back. Burned twigs. Read paper. Stan worked on tax. Called Mary. Mixed cookie dough.

1975

Tue – School. Harry, Ivan & Julie home. Took Greg to dentist. Went in to town to sign food stamps. Went to dairy for milk. Gas tank leaks.

Wed – No school. Ice and snow. Stan went to unemployment. Called Aunt Lavina (McKeesport) & Eleanor. Got letter from Bill. Watched TV & crocheted.

Thu – School. Harry home. Washed clothes. Cleaned out medicine cabinet. Baked cup cakes. Iced them – fixed for school. Finished Elaine’s purse.

Fri – School. Harry home. Cleaned house. Went to store (no food stamps). Julie had party. Came home sick. Watched TV.

Sat – Julie & Ivan sick again. Washed clothes. Called Stella & Mary. Made kids lunch on tray (Ivan & Julie). Watched TV. Mr. Iames brought me vegetables for soup.

Sun – Made big pot of soup. Called Elaine (had hair cut). Made meat loaf & potatoes & brownies. Julie & Ivan still sick. Stan worked on paper box with Harry.

Mon – No school. President’s day. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Started to store. Car stalled, wouldn’t start again. Went at supper time. Rain & fog. Stan went to shop. Kids got baths.

1976

Wed – School. Ice melted. Scraped front walk. Frank worked at shop for afternoon. Harry worked for Dodge kids. Cut out material. Marion called. Dave went to town. Took Ivan for material, Julie – valentines.

Thu – School. Julie home in morning (sore throat). Washed clothes. Made jelly roll & strawberry filling. Went to bank & Haines. Cut Harry’s hair.

Fri – school. Cleaned. Went to bank & store. Frank helped Stan at shop. Made cake & bread pudding. Dave helped me with pepper. Bill H. came with money & stayed for supper. Played cards.

Sat – Washed clothes. Nice day. Bill came. Brought us candy. Cleaned kitchen. Harry worked at Benack’s. Mended clothes. Ivan iced cake. Watched TV & knitted.

Sun – Lazy. Read paper. Walked around yard. Stan started cleaning workbench. Made roast (good). Knitted & watched TV.

Mon – No school. President’s day. Washed clothes. Swept & kids mopped. Went to store. Elaine came & stayed for supper. Dave drove her home on his way to State College.

Tue – School. Took Greg, Harry & Flip for eye tests. Stopped at store. Mended & made me a pair of slacks. Nice day. (Dave up at St. Coll) Knitted & watched TV.

1977

Fri – Up early. Started to clean. Marion called. Stan got milk & washed my car. Met Carol for lunch at Golden Spike. Stan went to Hospital (no treatment). Went to store. Julie made valentines.

Sat – Most snow on walks & driveway melted. Washed clothes. Made sauerkraut & spare ribs. Got Valentine card from Bill & Carolyn. Harry had job. Played cards.

Sun – Read paper. Called Bill & Carolyn. Baked cup cakes for school party. Iced them. Kids got baths. Watched “2001: Space Odyssey”.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Stan helped. His scrap carbide arrived. Went to school – took cup cakes. Stan went to store. Played cards. Dave came for clothes. Bruce H. stopped. New snow.

Tue – School. Julie home sick. Stan went to hospital as out-patient (Vasectomy). Sore. Worked on Clairton Tech. books. Went to store. Bought steak & ducks for Dave’s birthday.

Wed – School. Julie still home. Washed clothes. Finished up Cl. Tech books. Stan drove me to store – quick trip. Watched TV.

Thu – School. Julie still home. Worked on Dave’s cake. Stuffed ducks. Cooked giblets. Went to McKeesport Hospital for check-up. Went to store. Dave & Frank came. Had duck & trimmings.

1978

Sat – Harry had job in Hershey (up early). Washed clothes. Stan worked. Greg had basketball game – won. Knitted.

Sun – Made veal parmesan. Showered. Julie & I went to Carol’s house. Beautiful. Stan going to work on Pontiac – hopeless. Boys worked on Simca. Watched “How West was Won”.

Mon – School. Harry & Ivan home. Julie sick too but in school. Washed clothes. Swept. Frank mopped. Worked on Cl. Tech books. Dave stopped Marion called. Stanley stopped at store for me.

Tue – School. Everyone home. Stan, too. Greg worked. Went to bank & store. Called Carol about forms. Read.

Wed – School. Everyone home sick. Read “Arm of the Starfish”. Made rice casserole & chicken. Made pumpkin cake. Carol came for supper. Dave here, too. Carol worked on accounts. Washed 1 load.

Thu – School. Everyone home. Stan went back to work. Washed clothes. Worked on Escrow account. Dave got chair & love seat. Uncle Bill helped. Went to store. Baked cake.

Fri – School. Julie & Ivan still home. Cleaned house. Greg worked afternoon turn. Had stew. Frank went for GED test. Dave came. Had cake, ice cream, candy. Gave him rug. Elaine & Mike stopped. Stayed at Carol’s.
