August 27 - September 2, 1969-1973

1969

Wed- Washed clothes. Fixed apples. Folded & put away. Stan went to bowling party. Had quick supper & then fixed pies.

Thu – Went to bank & store. Elaine got shoes. Got material & clothes for school. Went to Dad’s. Took in film. He showed slides.

Fri – Baked cake. Cleaned kitchen & straightened. Stan laid block for steps. Put dirt up front. Carol called off work. Carol went to Bridal shower. Frank got clothes & ear phones.

Sat – Carol went with Jane & family to N.Y. for Judy’s baby. Washed clothes. Started wall for steps (Stan). Went to Bartolatta’s. Worked on dirt.

Sun – Read paper. Stan finished wall for steps. Went to Haines. Visited Mrs. Lindahl. Took her to visit Kay Elder. Worked on dirt to front. Stan worked on curbing.

Mon – Labor day. Washed clothes. Boys cleaned bedroom (Big job). Stan braced garage & frame. Picked tomatoes. Swept walk. Carol went swimming. Got sunburn. Had potato salad.

Tue – First day of school. Rain. Didn’t pour concrete. Went to Eastland. Julie & I ate lunch out. Made tomato sauce. Went to store.

1970

Thu – Carol took car. Went to Indiana to get Jane. Dave & Frank got dirt (better). Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Worked on front yard. Planted grass. Watered.

Fri – Kids cleaned. Went to Bank & store. Dave took Harry, Ivan & Julie to S. Park. Julie too young. Cleaned out home pool. Canned tomatoes. Stan went out to dinner (Sylvania). Went to Southland. Elaine shoes.

Sat – Elaine baked cake. Washed clothes. Stan went to work. Went to store. Kids went to Ohio Pyle. Had Haines chicken. Frank got clock radio, jeans & file. Had candy.

Sun – Hot & humid. Read paper. Stan went to funeral home (Fred Ramon). Took swim in home pool. Had light supper. Went to Dad’s. Took Stan & kids to Pap’s. Visited Mary at S.S. Hosp. Stopped at Stella’s.

Mon – Carol went to K-Mart. Dave & I went to town – crowded. Stopped at Dr. Siegel’s. Got Dave glasses. Kids got baths. Got ready for school.

Tue – First day of school. Washed clothes. Carol went shopping. Picked, cooked & canned tomatoes. Shuback came to adjust TV. Stan home late. Weeded & knitted.

Wed – Made custard. Carol got haircut. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to store. Got Gregory tennis shoes. Made ragout soup. Cut front grass. Weeded. Knitted. Bedspreads came.

1971

Fri – Elaine worked. Kids cleaned. Stan & I cleaned living room. Sam Ambrozia stopped by. Went to Watko’s for Shower for Rickey’s (Marks) girl. Nice evening.

Sat – Stan cut front grass. Washed clothes. Got kids cleaned up. Went to Valerie’s wedding. Stopped home. Went to reception. Andrea stayed overnight.

Sun – Slept late. Bill H. stopped out. Stan went golfing. Greg got hurt. Stan took to hospital. Drove Elaine to LRY. Frank had steak, cake, etc.

Mon – Slept late. Washed clothes. Folded. Stan went to see Herb Berkman. Bill picked up Carol. Carol & Jane got ready for vacation. Went to store. Took soap kit back to Sam Amb.

Tue – Hot & humid. Carol & Janey went to New York City. Elaine went to Sunnyhill. Stan went to town (Commerce). Dave & I went to Southland – groceries & clothes. Gave Mrs. Iames tomatoes.

Wed – Picked apples & tomatoes. Drove Elaine, Andrea & her Mom to get pictures taken. Stan took Frank to Dr. Made pies & stuffed peppers. Andrea stayed overnight. Kids slept out.

Thu – Stan went downtown. Washed clothes. Elaine worked. Took kids to Siegels for glasses. Stan took kids to baseball banquet. Kids got trophies.

1972

Sun – Slept late. Bill missed work. Read paper. Bill took Datsun to Jim’s Dad for tune-up. Made soup. Took down pool. Kids & Stan went to wiener roast. Greg Conklin died.

Mon – Washed clothes. Called people about Greg Conklin. Ironed & mended. Watched home movies & slides. Called Carol.

Tue – Took Greg for physical & football. Went to store. Baked cake. Frank got jacket, jeans & shirts. Stan & Bill worked on Elaine’s car. Elaine went to Oakland & Ann’s. Kids cut grass.

Wed – Picked tomatoes. Canned some whole & made sauce. Stella called about refrigerator. Played cards.

Thu – Up early. Made brownies & cole slaw. Took some to Conklins. Went to funeral home (Greg). Washed clothes. Went to stores. Paid K-Mart. Frank stayed in even. For football practice. Played cards.

Fri – Washed kitchen windows. Kids cleaned. I cleaned kitchen. Canned tomato sauce. Dave took glasses to get fixed & got salt. Got chicken & fish at “Kentucky Fried”.

Sat – Made cake (from scratch). Made yeast dough & galumpkies & stuffed pepper. Stan & I planted grass in back. Rain. Bill H. & Bryon came out.

1973

Mon – Hot. Stan back to work (2 days vaca.) Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Kids went swimming (Clairton). Went to store & diary. Weeded.

Tue – Hot (92º) Took Dave to work. Kids went swimming. Straightened house. Worked sprinkler. Read & knitted. Made rolls & cake. Gave Frank presents today. 2 shirts, socks. Notebook.

Wed – Hot & humid. Iced cake. Worked on & finished Julie’s mittens. Washed clothes. Frank had football practice afternoon & even. Had cake & ice cream in even. Elaine went to Great Wall.

Thu – Hot. Foul air. Washed clothes. Canned tomatoes. Took Greg to Homestead Hos. (infected hand – up arm). Carol came with gr. meat.

Fri – Hot & humid. Kids cleaned. Stan went to Dr. Went to bank & store. Cleaned kitchen. Went to store again. Washed Frank’s football clothes. Carol & Jim came. Brought Dad’s present.

Sat – Washed clothes. Heard news about Antha Graves killed (auto accident). Canned tomatoes. Dave packed. Hot. Took Frank for hair cut. Barber’s closed.

Sun – Did 1 load of wash. Mary came to take Dave to State College. Elaine sorted clothes. Stan went to Caroline’s to work. Frank helped. Kids went swimming. Drove Dorothy B. & Mrs. O. to funeral home (Antha Graves).
