August 6-12, 1969-1973

1969

Wed- Washed clothes. Changed our sheets. Ironed. Baked Greg’s birthday cake. Greg got poison ivy game, ball glove, baseball cards, etc. Put clout on front. Went to Penney’s then town to get Carol.

Thu – Went to store. Mixed paint & started on cellar. David got Greg’s glasses & basketball we won (J. B. raffle) Knitted. Picked Carol up on Rt. 51 (She worked late.)

Fri – Cleaned kitchen. Washed hair. Dave & I painted cellar. Helped fix supper. Got dressed up (fixed nails). Stan & I went to Meadows for Carbidie managers. Picked horses.

Sat – Stan didn’t go to work. Started to work on garage Rain. Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan went shopping for new car. Carol went. Got Buick convertible.

Sun – Stan put in brick around beam. Burned rubbish. Carol rode around in new car with top down. Painted in cellar. Knitted. Chappini came down. Stan went bowling.

Mon – Up early. Moved car (flat). Men came. Poured concrete. Kids all helped. Washed clothes. Wrote Bill. Relaxed in eve. Tired. Carol got ride home from school.

Tue – Picked apples. Cored & peeled. Furniture man came. Went to K-Mart & Thorofare. Made stuffed round steak & apple pies. Started front of E sweater. Showed home movies. Mrs. Iames came.

1970

Thu – Washed clothes. Made birthday cake. Greg got baseballs, $5.00 quarters in bank notebook. Crocheted.

Fri – Stan slept late. Kids cleaned. I baked pies. Cleaned kitchen. Went to Eastland. Ordered king size bed. Got linens. Dave got records. Got present for Leslie’s birthday. Crocheted.

Sat – Washed clothes. Elaine fixed pizza (never again!). Went to store. Made spaghetti. Dug up dirt & weeded around grapes. Stan tied them. Finished pillow case edging.

Sun – Weeded around grapes. Stan cut carpeting around grapes. Picked tomatoes & corn & strawberries. Got one qt of tomato sauce. Bill H. stopped out. Weeded. Cut front grass. Kids slept out. Carol lost contacts in sweeper.

Mon – Tired. Washed clothes. Folded & ironed. Went to store. Kids went to 3 Rivers ball fame. Weeded crab grass. Stan bought me new earrings (beautiful).

Tue – Had head cold. Made chocolate ship cookies. Went to K-Mart. Had corn from garden. Weeded front.

Wed – Picked tomatoes. Made sauce. Weeded front. Elaine cleaned & filled pool. Started new pillow cases. Stan took Dave & Frank bowling. Kids game rained out.

1971

Fri –Went to dentist in Oakland with Julie. Took Frank to Dr. for examine. Went to K-Mart to get football. Just bought baseballs. Decorated Greg’s cake. Stan’s last day at Carbidie. Took kids to drive-in (Mellon).

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan & I talked about what to do. Dad called. Went to K-Mart & store.

Sun – Beautiful day. Baked pies. Stan & I went looking for industrial property. Picked beans. Kids cut grass. Gave Stan hair cut.

Mon – Washed clothes. Stan went to see Burkmen & Mel Peterson. Stan’s face swollen. Drove in to get Carol from school.

Tue – Stan’s face swollen more. Jane & I went shopping for material & trim. Went to store. Baked cake. Took Elaine for driving lesson & job at conv. home.

Wed – Cut out & worked on Elaine’s gown. Elaine went to town. Carol had school. Home late. Stan went to Squilla’s.

Thu – Washed clothes. Worked on Elaine’s gown. Carol & I went to Kaufmans for lace for Carol’s gown.

1972

Sun – Slept late. Bill Hat. Came out. Brought ladders & got mortar box. Worked on dirt. Went to diary. Made roast beef. Had Greg’s cake. Greg got money, trousers, jeans & film. Stan painted. Elaine & Andrea took kids to drive-in “What’s up, Doc?”

Mon – Worked crosswords. Washed clothes. Moved dirt. Elaine went shopping. Went to store. Called Regina Hatfield.

Tue – Pushed kids to move dirt pile. Swept & mopped cellar. Took Fr. for eye test. Got form from bank. Buildt fire and worked dirt. Stan got tires mounted on Dave’s car.

Wed – Went with Ivan on paper route. Went to K-Mart & Thorofare. Had lunch. Went back to K-Mart again. Went to dairy. Bill & Fr. went to Gobbies & painted side of house. Stan & I went to see “What’s up Doc”. Elaine treated.

Thu – Did paper route. Baked cookies. Washed clothes. Mended. Went to Murphy Mart. Bill built fire. Ivan cut front grass. Worked around blueberries. Stan went with Phil C. for dinner. Had disagreement with Bomba’s.

Fri – Did paper route early in morning. Fixed eggs. Kids & I cleaned house. Took Frank to Clems. Left glass at Johnny’s glass. Went to dairy. Bill got Frank at Clems. Tired. Bed early.

Sat – Stan worked. Did paper route. Bill went to Bob Morris’ wedding. Washed clothes. Bill H. came out. Started to transplant phlox. Went to all-star wiener roast. Fellows played ball. Frank at Pl. Hills day. Carol & Jim came.

1973

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Went to store & K-Mart. Had Greg’s cake. Greg got trousers & shirts & money for stratimatic (football).

Tue – Hot, humid. Made kapusta & periogi. Went to bookmobile & diary. Called Stella. Played cards.

Wed – Stan worked (went in late – vacation). Hot, humid. Picked cord, gr. Beans & tomatoes. Washed hair. Finished knitting Julie’s poncho. Weeded.

Thu – Stan’s vacation. Played golf. Weeded side yard. Planted new grass seed there. Watered. Stan & I went to S. Hills Village. Went to Odd Chair “Jacque Berol”

Fri – Stan went to Dr. & to Pitt Dental. Went to store. Cleaned kitchen. Went to Grants. Stella & Bill stopped out. Carol called. Ivan got baby bunnies.

Sat – Washed clothes. Carol came for Ivan. He stayed overnight at her place. Fellows watched football game. Marion called. Read magazines & took bath.

Sun – Muggy. Carol & Jim came. Dave worked in morning. Made fr. cut green beans (garden). Made meat loaf & snackin’ cake. Weeded. Ivan cut front grass.
