April 16 - April 22, 1969-1973

1969

Wed- School. Baked cake. Tired. Knitted. Went to store. Bill went out to eat. Took Frank, Greg & Harry to ball game. Pirates 11 – Mets 3.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Ironed. Bill ate out. Stan went bowling. Cut out Elaine’s outfit.

Fri – School. Went to bank & store. Got Bill’s suitcase. Fixed supper for Bill & kids. Rain storm. Carol late. Went to PTA card party. Said good-bye to Bill. Wendy drove him to airport.

Sat – Cold & rainy. Stan worked on lawn mower & went for bowling play-off. Carol & I went shopping. Got material, etc. Sewed Elaine’s bell bottoms (too big).

Sun – Nice day. Took Dave for driving lesson. Went to Haines. Dave & I cut grass. Stan put up grape arbor posts. Took kids to Al’s. Stan & I went to town to see “Sweet Charity”.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Made gelatin salad. Ironed. Went to K-Mart. Rained. Mary & Carol called. Picked Carol up early in town.

Tue – School. Finished Elaine’s slacks. Cleaned kitchen. Made custard. Sewed Elaine’s shirt. Put matting around grapes & trees. Stan got Carol. Got ticket.

1970

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Planted poppies. Made pies. Ironed & put away. Bill H. & Bobby stopped out. Stan went bowling. Went to store. Picked up Carol & Greg in East Liberty.

Fri – School. Carol took car. Wrote checks & Bill. Baked cake. Weeded. Made deviled eggs. Watched TV & knitted.

Sat – Beautiful day. Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan made wall near steps. Boys shoveled dirt. Weeded. Carol made tacos. Carol & Greg went to drive-in. Took bath.

Sun – Rain. Read paper. Stan went to bowl off. Went to Arcadian Garden. Bought Mugo Pine & grass seed. Bobby Stinner came to play. Stan visited Pap. Carol made cookies. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Very windy. Went to Thorofare. Ironed & put away. Frank had ball practice. Planted strawberries. Stan cut front grass.

Tue – School. Made kapusta & pierogies. Cleaned up. Got Elaine from school. Went to Dr. Siegel’s. Dave & kids went to ball game (Pirates 9- Houston 8). Stan, Ivan, Julie & I went for ride.

Wed – School. Beautiful day. Made lemon pudding & rolls. Watered strawberries. Started Frank’s hat. Greg & Harry had practice. Carol’s Greg came to get hand exrayed.

1971

Fri – School. Took Julie to dentist. Stopped at store. Stan went to eye Dr. Relaxed. Planted Santaline & asparagus & nectarine bushes. Sewed sweater. Bill H. stopped out.

Sat – Kids cleaned. Dave had Penn State test. Elaine had SAT. Ivan had practice. Rain. Went to bookmobile & store. Stan & I went to movies “Mash” & “Patton”. Home late.

Sun – Frank went fishing. Read paper. Cleaned up mud. Stan put up spouts. Tried to cut front gas. Gasoline dirty. Stalled. Watched Ed Sullivan.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Washed hard washables. Mended. Swept & mopped cellar. Bill got Carol from school in Jag. Stan took Frank to practice. Went to store.

Tue – School. Cleaned out front cupboard. Washed jackets, quilts, mittens. Stan cut front grass. Dave & Bill cut back. Went to bookmobile & Acme. Frank, Greg & Harry had practice.

Wed – School. Cleaned out refrigerator. Cleaned kitchen. Went to store.

Thu – Washed clothes. Straightened up. Took Frank to Dr. Busis. Long wait. Stopped at Siegel’s. Elaine fixed supper. Cleaned out mail.

1972

Sun – Slept late. Went to Haines. Jane & Diane stopped (not home). Made apple pies. Made chop suey. Frank worked with Bill. Boy came with care for sale (David). Dave & Elaine went to LRY. Baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Had steak & apple pie. Played cards.

Tue – School. Cut front grass. Cleaned up house. Made lemon meringue & chocolate cream pies. Went to store. Dave worked at night.

Wed – School. Bill took Harry’s picture to school. Bill fixed glass in cellar door & bathtub faucet. Washed clothes & screens. Stan & I went to Hornes. Bought new stove.

Thu – School. Mended. Made pineapple dessert. Finished Stan’s sweater (too big). Wrote letters & paid bills.

Fri – School. Washed clothes. Cleaned living room & kitchen. Picked up Firebird. Bill H. stopped out. Visited.

Sat – Stan had to work. Washed clothes. Went to store. Stan home early. Kids cleaned. Stan & I went to show. Saw “Klute” & “Summer of ‘42” Home late. Kids up.

1973

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Elaine went looking for job. Wrote checks for business.

Tue – School. Went for salt and went to store. Went to K-Mart. Got things for Easter. Cut out Julie’s dress.

Wed – School. Made periogi & kapusta. Cleaned up. Went in to Dad’s. Eleanor & I cleaned up & set prices. Home late.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Made more kapusta. Straightened things from Dad’s. Watched Waltons. Sewed.

Fri – No school. Stan went to Dr. Hot day. Cleaned bedroom. Did breakfast cleanup. Made nut rolls. Carol & Jim came out (twice). Went to store. Stan , Carol & Jim went bowling.

Sat – Washed clothes. Finished Julie’s dress. Cleaned living room. Felt very depressed. Made potatoes salad.

Sun – Easter. Kids found baskets. Nice day. Cut front grass. Julie & I went to Marion’s. Got bushes. Planted them. Bill Hatfield came out. Brought old washer. Julie had ear ache.
