June 10 - June 16, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Kids made beds. Sewed Julie’s top. Harry had game. Went to store. Dan Arico came. Julie started Bible school with Mrs. McGee.

Tue – Took Ivan & Harry to dentist. Went to Roth & South Hills Village – looked for carpet. Stopped at McDonald’s. Transplanted plants. Stan worked at shop. Rained.

Wed- Cooler. Patched plaster for painting. Carol called. Bill stopped. Elaine came out from work. Painted living room ceiling. Frank took Greg to dentist. Sewed Carol’s top.

Thu – Painted ceilings of dining room, hall & stairways. Man came to measure for carpet. Made egg sandwiches. Painted 1 side of living room. Very tired. Stan stayed overnight.

Fri – Stan’s golf party. Got Frank up to take Stan’s clothes to him. Missed him. Went to store. Fixed birthday lunch for Carol. Made potato salad. Took Julie & Ivan to picnic for Bible school. Exchanged paint.

Sat – Washed clothes. Painted other half of living room. Stan did upstairs stairway blue. Went to Grants (got fish) & Hickory Farms. Got cheese & beef stick. Had snack.

Sun – Rain. Read paper. Made French toast. Painted dining room blue & cupboard. Mess. Dan Arico came. Mended. Frank had game.

1975

Tue – School. Stan started iritis. Took Ivan to Pitt dental. Knitted. Hoed. Ate early supper. Ivan had game. We went swimming. Picked up Frank (dirty). The guys watched ballgame on TV.

Wed – School. Washed 1 load. Rain. Went to bank & store. Called Mary. Went to Murphy Mart & Giant Eagle. Stan made kapusta. Made apple & cherry pies.

Thu – School (last day). Cleaned tiles in bathroom. Cleaned house. Frank came. Took bath upstairs. Took boys & went swimming in evening. Frank stayed overnight. I was upset.

Fri – Nice day. Stan tried to work on pipe. Went to Carbide Eng. golf party. Won picnic jug. Boys went swimming. Wrote to Elaine. Stan worked on sink again. Washed clothes.

Sat – Stan tightened sink spigots. Went to Dr. for iritis. Put stuff back in sink cupboard. Went to store. Baked cake. Made lemon pie & roast. Kids went swimming. Iced cake.

Sun – Read paper. Decorated Carol’s cake. Made lasagna. Carol & Jim came for birthday supper. Elaine called. Stan called Pap. Got Carol top & panties. Had cake & ice cream. Rained.

Mon – Summer school for Harry. Stan took him. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Took kids & went swimming. Went to Foodland. Harry cut grass. Julie had game.

1976

Thu – Worked. Stopped at store. Went swimming. Drove down to Bill’s trailer but they weren’t home.

Fri – Worked. Went to Holiday Inn fro lunch. Had birthday cake for Bruce at work. Re-planted corn & beans in garden. Watered. Stan went to Carbide Eng. golf banquet.

Sat – Hot. Washed clothes. Went to bank & store. Cleaned house. Felt blue. Went swimming in evening. Carol called. Kids slept out Put TV on porch.

Sun – Hot & humid. Made Russian torte and apple torte. Had chicken shish kabobs. Went swimming in evening.

Mon – Hot. Took Russian Torte to work. Had hot wiener lunch. Fixed quick supper. Stan got food stamps. Carol came – gave her present. We all went to Bill’s trailer.

Tue – Very hot & humid. Worked. Took fan (thank goodness). Dave took Ivan to Pitt dental – wrong day. Ivan took bus home. Went to store & swimming. Uncle Bill came to visit.

Wed – Worked. Rain. Took home little dog that Debbie brought to work. Started to knit Julie’s sweater. Got letter from Bill.

1977

Fri – School. Tried to wallpaper the bathroom. Ugh! Ran out. Dave ordered more. Went to Julie’s graduation party. Kids gave show. Julie played flute solo.

Sat – Washed clothes. Cleaned living room and dining room. Harry ran into Benack’s bushes. Greg coached game. Dave went to Pirate game. Planted more seed in garden.

Sun – Cleaned kitchen & bath. Read paper. Elaine called. Went to store. Iced cake. Made meat loaf. Dave took Julie & Ivan to show “Fun with Dick & Jane”.

Mon – School. Drove Harry & Ivan. Washed windows. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Went to store. Made chili. Changed sheets. Went swimming. Wrote Elaine & pkg shawl.

Tue – School. Went early to Marion’s. Don drove us to pick strawberries. Home. Fixed strawberries. Made preserves. Went to bank & milk store. Went to store & bookmobile. Went swimming.

Wed – School. Hoed garden. Picked peas & cherries. Made cherry cobbler. Put more pieces of wall paper on. Cut front grass. Bill came to help Stan with brakes on Subaru. Mary, Pap & Gromeks came.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Started to write story. Difficult. Went to store. Kids went swimming. Dave cut grass.

1978

Sat – Marion called. Washed clothes. Made chili. Dave was here. Stayed for supper. Bill & Carolyn came. Played volleyball. Nice time. Watched TV. Ivan stayed up to do Sunday papers.

Sun – Nice day. Baked cookies. Went to milk store & store. Ivan & Dave went on picnic. Greg & Harry went to Paula’s graduation. Julie went swimming at Sajna. Had easy supper. Relaxed.

Mon – School. Hot. Washed clothes. Swept. Harry mopped. Fixed chicken & stuffing and green beans. Frank had first day school – Triangle Tech. Made spaghetti sauce.

Tue – School in morning. Last day. Cool. Sewed Julie’s top. Planted corn & flowers. Julie & I went for hike. Stella & Bill here. Tested Bill’s speedometer. Turned very cold.

Wed – Cool. Drove Dave to work. Went to store & bank. Harry got milk & transformer. Harry went on picnic. Stan & I went shopping. Got Pap pajamas & groceries.

Thu – Greg worked different shift. Frank went to school. Washed clothes. Harry took Julie & Ivan to pool. Finished sewing Julie’s shorts & top. Dan Arico called. Harry worked. Ivan cut grass.

Fri – Drove Greg to work then didn’t use car. Cleaned house – struggle (Ivan had used Subaru). Frank went to school. Harry worked. Stan & I took present to Pap. Hatfields not home. Bought donuts. Dave came.
