June 3 - June 9, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – School. Eleanor called. Washed clothes. Dave swept & mopped. Dave fixed up cellar for himself.

Tue – School. Marion called. Dave painted. Worked n garden. Went looking for carpeting. Took Harry to Dr. Stan & I went looking for carpeting.

Wed- School. Hoed garden. Scattered grass mulch. Picked strawberries. Froze 1 container. Went to Sears. Got paint. Dave started work (Pinkertons). Kids had games. Harry cut back grass.

Thu – School. Last day. Washed clothes. Kids dismissed early. Took Ivan to ballgame & went to Murphy Mart. Planted cauliflower & pansies.

Fri – No school. Cleaning day. Rough. Got Elaine. Took her to store. Made beef stroganoff. Andrea came. Took Elaine to her place for cake. Don came. Picked strawberries. Fixed them.

Sat – Hot & humid. Ivan cut grass. Washed clothes. Stan measured for awning. Went to store. Frank had game. Thunderstorms. Bill stopped out.

Sun – Made bacon & egg sandwiches. Julie swam at Shyna’s. Cut out belly-top for Julie. Made meat loaf. Elaine called. Read.

1975

Tue – School. Took Ivan to dentist. Went to bank, paid mortgage, got milk. Went to store. Got call from Assistance about Frank. Went to Bookmobile (not there) & K-Mart.

Wed – School. Typed Ivan’s paper (song words). Pressed Stan’s suits. Trimmed hedge. Mailed stuff to IRS man. Julie baked cup cakes. Cut grass in back. Saved clippings. Stan went back to shop.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Iced cup cakes. Storm. Iames tree split. Cut out shorts & top for Julie. Sewed top. Went to store.

Fri – School. Cleaned house. Finished Julies short-skirt. Changed cushions to clean side. Washed arm covers. Cut grass. Planted zinnias in front & moved petunias. Watched TV. Kids had game. Greg hero.

Sat – Drove Stan to shop (his car wouldn’t start). Went to Bookmobile & store. Washed clothes. Boys worked on straw. Hill. Ivan & I cut grass. Frank stopped (apologized to Dad). Drove Frank to McKeesport.

Sun – Read paper. Cool. Kids cut grass. Julie went to birthday party. Greg & Harry went to game. Ivan went swimming. Baked brownies & read book. Finished book. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Cut front grass. Julie had game. Called Carol & Eleanor. Me & kids went swimming. Lit Julie’s candle (she made).

1976

Thu – School. Worked. Nice day. Greg & Dave dug footers for wall. Planted flowers. Visited Sherry Iames. Marion called.

Fri – School. Julie had party at school. Worked. Stan drove me. Girls went to Al’s for lunch. Kids poured footers for wall. Went swimming. Went to store.

Sat – Nice day. Washed clothes. Cleaned. Stan got blocks. Greg & Harry passed drivers test. Fellows worked on side footers. Talked to Mrs. Benack. Flip didn’t pass drivers test.

Sun – Reap paper. Made banana cake. Went to store. Stan & Dave worked on wall. Elaine called. Called Carol. Went swimming.

Mon – School. Worked. Uncle Bill here (got blocks). Harry cut front grass. Julie had game (lost). Harry had game (lost). Washed clothes. Tired.

Tue – Last day school. Worked. 85 degrees. Worked late. Dave fixed supper. Took Ivan, Julie & I went to pool. Washed clothes. Made ice tea & spaghetti sauce.

Wed – Hot. Worked. Greg went to town to see about job. Went swimming in evening.

1977

Fri – School. Cool. Took Harry for x-rays on ankle (sprained). Made pies. Cleaned kitchen & living room. Carol came for supper. She & I went to hospital to see Ivan. Bill & Carolyn came, too. Cut grass.

Sat – Nice day. Washed clothes. Stan went to shop. Cleaned. Visited Ivan. Kids went swimming. Stan visited Ivan. Greg & I cut grass.

Sun – Rain. Read paper. Made rolls. Took some to kids at hospital. Went to store. Helen & Caroline visited. John Henschel died. Watched TV. Eleanor called.

Mon – School. Rain. Read Julie’s story. Harry took crutches. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Stan took Pontiac to get fixed. Visited Ivan & took Julie shopping for material.

Tue – School. Went to bank & store. Brought Ivan home from hospital. Cut out Julie’s dress. Stan & I went to pick up glasses & funeral home (John Henschel). Stopped & visited Pap & Mary.

Wed – School. Sewed Julie’s dress. Finished it. Crocheted. Had chicken. Made date cake. Carolyn & Bill stopped. Cut Julie’s hair. Stan went back to shop.

Thu – School. Took Julie to Pitt Dental. Had tooth pulled. Washed clothes. Went to Murphy Mart & Shop N Save. Crocheted. Marion called. Milan Milkovitch died. Cool & rain.

1978

Sat – Frank went to town to see about school. Washed clothes. Stan went to shop – came home sick. Dave came & washed clothes. Stayed for supper. Took sweeper. Planted yew. Turned cooler.

Sun – Cooler. Read paper. Washed hair & cleaned bathroom. Went to Marion’s for baseball tickets. Made brownies & baked pork. Harry went to Radar’s. Carolyn & Bill came. Played basketball. Dave came. Had good time.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Drove Greg to work. Swept – Frank mopped. Went to store. Got lunch meat, etc. Made cake & iced. Ivan started paper route. Harry’s commencement. Kids went to baseball game. Abel’s came. Visited.

Tue – School. Called Carol. Dave came. Had lunch. Waited for his car. Worked on garden. Carolyn brought sprayer. Trimmed hedges. Harry had game. Had early supper. Went to stores. Kroger, Gold Circle, Murphy Mart & Giant Eagle.

Wed – School. Harry up early but army guy didn’t come. Stan drove Greg to work. Rain. Went to milk store. Got swimming passes. Read “Poldark”. Mary called. Bruce H. house burned.

Thu – School. Rain – Frank took bus to town to see about school. Washed clothes. Made banana cake. Called Marion & Stella. Poured. Stan helped Ivan with papers. Harry worked. Made biscuit donuts. Started Julie’s shorts.

Fri – School. Cool. Mary left for Calif. Cleaned house. Harry worked. Went to store.
