June 17 - June 23, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – Washed clothes. Went to Zahre’s. Got Stan’s coffee pots. Picked up carpet at Roths. Got Gregory’s glasses fixed. Went to store. Ironed & made beds. Put contact in cupboard.

Tue – Put books back in cupboard. Washed dining room windows & screens. Frank painted cellar stairway. Sewed numbers on uniform. Picked & pitted cherries.

Wed- Tired. Ivan & kids cut back grass. Went to store early. Frank helped at shop. Stan took up rugs. Took dishes out of china closet.

Thu – Marion & Eleanor called. Washed clothes. Swept & damp mopped living room & dining room. Drove Greg to game & stopped at store. Picked cherries. Made pie filling.

Fri – Humid. Men came to lay carpets. Mess. Baked pies. Ready to go look at drapes. Carol came. Didn’t go. She brought Stan shirt & trousers. Visited. Dave went to hospital. Urinary infection.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to Grants. Ivan & Greg had games. Kids worked on new game. Stan wrote check to pay bills. Stan worked at shop. Watched TV. Kids got out lego.

Sun – Poured down rain. Went to Shop ‘N Save. Made banana cake & Julie baked peanut butter cookies. Julie & Kim did baton show. Stan & I went to Grandpaps. Stan worked on mower.

1975

Tue – Nice day. Harry SS. Got his bike tire. Wrote David. Went swimming. Took Ivan & Julie to White Swan park. Stopped for her free cheeseburger at McD. Harry slept out. Rained.

Wed – SS Harry. Tired. Read story. Cut out material for summer robe. Ivan, Greg & Harry had game. I cut front grass. Weeded. Ivan & Julie went swimming.

Thu – SS Harry. Washed clothes. Picked cherries. Made cherry pie. Stan went to meeting (Miller didn’t show). Went swimming. Rained. Ivan bought bike. Julie had game (sick).

Fri – SS Harry. Julie sick. Cleaned. Greg did lunch clean-up. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Took shower. Went to store. Sewed Mrs. Iames dress. Took Julie & Ivan to drive-in. Stan came, too. “Escape to Witch Mountain”.

Sat – Hot today. Made cream pie. Washed clothes. Sewed. Kids cut grass for Zieglers. Made chicken soup & chicken salad. Cut fresh fruit. Ate early. Went swimming. Read. Stan & kids watched TV football.

Sun – Hot. Read paper. Finished sewing my brunch coat. Kids went swimming. Went to store. Ate early then Julie & I went swimming. Picked strawberries & a few raspberries. Watched TV.

Mon – SS Harry. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Picked up Stan (He took Plymouth to Bahana). Picked cherries & canned them. Kids went swimming. Kids had game.

1976

Thu – Worked. Evie had accident at corner. Stan made supper. I stopped at store. Kids late swimming. Fire trucks did drill. Tired.

Fri – Worked. Had party at work for Dorothy’s birthday. Hoed garden & picked cherries.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to bank & store. Called Stella (Bill & Linda here). Rain. Cut out shorts & sewed. Knitted & watched all-star football.

Sun – Rain. Slept late. Made French toast. Called Bill. Elaine called. Cleaned house. Bill & Carolyn came with Stan’s father’s day gifts.

Mon – Worked. Rain. Kids washed clothes & swept & mopped cellar. Kids cooked. Folded & ironed clothes. Sorted mail.

Tue – Worked. Dave took Ivan to dental clinic & went to library. Kids & I went swimming.

Wed – Hot. Worked half day. Stan, Julie & I went to Cheat Lake & Big Bear Camplands. Stopped at Rondaninellis. Nice trip (borrowed Dave’s car). Home at 8:00.

1977

Fri – School. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Hot & humid. Cleaned living room. Rained. Kids played cards. Harry & Greg helped Dave at Ponderosa.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to milk store. Picked cherries. Carol came. Had Stan’s present & got her birthday gift. Canned cherries. Mary came out with Kate, Cas & John. Visited. Julie stayed at Carol’s.

Sun – Read paper. Sewed Carol’s slacks. Went to store. Baked cake. Kids went swimming. Julie rode Carol & Jim’s airplane to Rostraver. Harry & I picked her up. Bill & Carolyn came. Elaine called.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept and mopped cellar. Called Marian & Penn State. Straightened upstairs. Greg leaving Blooms. Had disagreement. Picked raspberries.

Tue – School. Went to bank & store. Took Ivan to Dr. Stan came home early. Rested. Bonnie, Bud, Stella & Bill came out to visit. Bruce & Robin & baby came, too.

Wed – School. Picked cherries. Made pies. Called Eleanor. Walt sick. Made kapusta. Went to Giant Eagle in evening.

Thu – School. Took Julie to Pitt Dental. Price & Pride at A&P. Baked torte & brownies. Made jello salad. Stan worked on outside posts.

1978

Sat – Hot.

Sun – Very hot & humid. Drove Julie & girlfriend to Kennywood. Stan & I lazied. Dave came. Rained. Bill & Carolyn came. Watched “Poldark”. Bill H. stopped. Elaine called.

Mon – Rain. Harry didn’t go for Army test. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped (lightly). Made kapusta. Harry worked & stayed over. Frank school. Showered & washed hair.

Tue – Hot & humid. Washed cushion covers. Scrubbed couches & dining room chairs. Made Dannish Rolls – good. Went to bookmobile. Stan went to milk store.

Wed – Humid. Called Marion. Frank school. Greg worked later so went to store. Went to Borough Bldg. About sewage – missed him. Read Sunday comics. Stella & Bill stopped out.

Thu – Cooler. Washed clothes. Had lunch clean up & cleaned kitchen. Harry & Ivan went riding in car. Finished reading “Crossing the Border” by Joan Oates.

Fri – Nice. Ran vacuum. Elaine & Dottie came. Fixed chicken soup, cheese & crackers. Elaine took Dottie to Sq. Hill. Had London Broil. Visited. Went to Kroger.
