November 11 - November 17, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – No school. Veterans day. Nice. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Took Plymouth to Bahanna for brakes. Cleaned kids rooms upstairs. Ivan went to Rose’s Stan went to Carbide Engineers.

Tue – School. Went to McKeesport for female examination. Frank home. Took Julie & Ivan to dentist. Home late. Waited for Frank. Had discussion.

Wed- School. Blue. Baked brownies & pumpkin cookies. Felt blue. Knitted. Went to school. Stan & guys here.

Thu – School. Very blue. Washed clothes. Mr. Iames came over – talked. Eleanor called. Walter Earl operated on yesterday. Called Elaine. Carol came. Snow flurries.

Fri – School. Cleaned house. Stan & I had long talk. Sandy Colonna had baby boy yesterday morning. Felt better. Marion called.

Sat – Washed clothes. Kids cleaned. Priscilla Austin came. Worked on books. Got Kentucky Fried chicken. Watched symphony & “Godfather”.

Sun – Made pancakes. Took shower. Drove out to Carol’s. Talked. Went over accounts. Had nice dinner. Got home safe. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs’.

1975

Tue – No school – Veterans day. Carol called. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Dave took car – had flat & spare flat. Stan went to shop. Knitted. Watched TV.

Wed – School. Dave got snow tire for spare & went on to Carol’s. Sorted mail. Had baked chicken. Started to type shop inventory. Stan went to shop.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Typed shop inventory. Read Newsweek. Called Eleanor. Marion called. Stan deposited check & paid mortgage for Oct & Nov. Stan had meeting with Fred &* Louise.

Fri – School. Cleaned. Dave stalled with car. Stan helped him. I went to bank & store. Got food stamps. Went to Jim’s to get snow tires. Snowed. Finished shop inventory. Dan came. Went to Clabers.

Sat – Stan & Dan had meeting with Louise. Took Dave to work & books back to Bookmobile. Took Ivan & Julie to Rostraver. Washed clothes. Stan & I went to Great Wall for egg rolls. Called Texas.

Sun – Up early. Cleaned kitchen & bathroom. Read paper. Watched football games. Made apple cobbler. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Baked cakes. Wrote Frank. Elaine called. Called Eleanor. Watched Monday night football.

1976

Thu – School. Greg stayed home from work – cold. Iced Ivan’s cake. Sewed Frank’s drapes. Gathered dead flowers in front. Bill H. helped Stan – stayed for supper. Ivan got 100. Marion called.

Fri – School. Carol called. Not coming tonight. Cleaned house – upstairs & down. Stan went to shop. Made calls.

Sat – Kids went to shop to help Dad. I washed clothes. They watched Pitt game (Pitt 24 – W. Va. 16). Went to store with Ivan & Julie. Watched TV.

Sun – Read paper. Julie & I took walk to Hospital. Dave & Frank came to wash clothes. Bill & Carolyn came to fix Stan’s car. Had meatloaf. Watched “Patton” & “Apple Dumpling Gang”.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Changed sheets. Bill H. helped Stan. Went to Siegel’s with glasses, went to town. Took back drapes – bought shirts. Played bridge with kids. Stan had meeting.

Tue – School. Called Carol. Grace called. Stan sick with bad cold – hoarse. Made chicken stuffed peppers. Harry had job. Greg worked overtime. Cut grass in back. Called Marion. Watched TV.

Wed – School. Julie had field trip to Round Hill Park. Went to McKeesport unemployment. Stan went to see John from PDQ. Played cards. Greg worked over.

1977

Fri – School. Light snow. Made spaghetti sauce & iced Ivan’s cake. Cleaned house. Knitted collar of BJ’s sweater. Stan listened to Monessen game – lost. Harry went to party.

Sat – Went to store & Greg went Murphy Mart. Went to milk store. Ivan went hiking. Julie went skating. Harry worked. Watched “Godfather”. Carol & Jim came. Brought kitty.

Sun – Light snow. Got papers & read. Mary called. Watched Steelers. Made fish, potatoes, zuccini. Elaine called. Harry worked (eve). Dave worked (after). Watched “Godfather”.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Made chili. Couldn’t start the car. Marion & Eleanor called. Made cherry cake. Knitted & watched TV.

Tue – School. Went to store & bank. Went to Elaine Powers. Made chicken & wild rice. Harry had job. Watched last of “Godfather”. Mrs. O. called.

Wed – School. Called Dorothy Bilan. Carol called. Worked on bonnet for BJ. Made chicken & rice. Stan went back to shop. Typed Harry’s paper.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Finished sweater set for BJ. Went to store (eve). Kids mixed cookie dough. Stan fixed juicer.

1978

Sat – Washed clothes. Stan went to work in morning. Called Elaine & John Evans. Iced Ivan’s cake & made spaghetti. He went to library with Dave. Had cake without him.

Sun – Rain. Stan delivered papers. Read paper. Made soup. Went to store. Carolyn & Bill came. They went to Greg’s for supper. Carol called. Watched game Steelers 7 – Los Angeles 10. Wrote Bernice.

Mon – School. Gray day. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Call Agnes Watko. Sewage inspector came. Read Julie’s book. Stan went bowling.

Tue – School. Called Marion. Cut out new top & apron. Sewed apron. Greg came. Brought milk cartons. Went to store. Carol came in evening. Visited & gave check (Thanksgiving).

Wed – School. Washed dishes from China closet. Stan took out broken glass. Carolyn came with curtains. Sewed them. Mary called.

Thu – School. Julie home sick. Frank went later. He went to Federal Assistance. Baked chocolate date cake. Sewed top. Went to see cabinets & to store & milk store.

Fri – School. Stan & Julie home sick. Felt lousy, too. Went to bank & Dellalos & Haines. Had fish. Watched TV “Pearl”. Put dishes back in China closet.
