December 2 - December 8, 1974-1978

1974

Mon – 4 inches of snow. Stan drove Dave to bus station. Felt very blue. No school. Called about job. Washed clothes.

Tue – No school. Power failure. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Kids mopped. Went to store. Called again about job. Had talk with Stan.

Wed- No school. Sewed aprons for Mary & Caroline. Bill Hatfield here for lunch (helped Stan at shop). Went to school. Stopped at store.

Thu – No school. Washed clothes. Fixed lunch. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Went to Washners for close out sale. Got hats.

Fri – 1^st day back to school for kids. Eleanor called & Mary Devine called. Cleaned living room, etc. Went back to Washners (exchange) Went to Sq. Hill for interview for job. No luck.

Sat – Washed clothes. Kids cleaned. Went to store & X-mas shopping. Took Harry back in evening (gift exchange). Elaine & Don came. She washed clothes. Watched TV.

Sun – Slept late. Stan went to shop. Julie made cake. Worked on homework. Had roast beef. Watched “Upstairs, Downstairs”. Kids got baths.

1975

Tue – School. Mended clothes. Typed Harry’s paper for school. Called Eleanor. Stan picked up carpet cleaner. Tried it on bedroom rug.

Wed – School. Dave’s day off. Helped me. We cleaned living room & my bedroom carpet. Big job. Took machine back. Dave cooked supper. Went shopping at Murphy Mart (15% discount). Bought new oil cloth.

Thu – School. Drove Dave to work. Went shopping (15% discount). Washed clothes. Washed living room covers. Got gift exchanges. Dave took Ivan back for trousers & tape recorder (out). Tired.

Fri – School. Re-washed couch cushions. Put them back on. Cleaned up & dusted. Cleaned kitchen. Wrote checks for Cl. Tech. Kids went to the show. Saw “Chinatown” & “Longest Yard”. Julie stayed over at Kelly’s. Marion called.

Sat – Rain. Went to store. Dave took car to work in after. Bill & Carolyn stopped. I washed clothes. Elaine stopped out with J.C. to get books. Kelly here for supper.

Sun – Addressed X-mas cards & wrote letters. Called Pat Cocuzzi & Gloria Goughnour. Made Bar-B-Q spare ribs.

Mon – School. Julie home sick. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. Changed sheets. Made ice tea. Watched football on TV.

1976

Thu – School. Greg drove. Washed clothes. Bill H. came. Had supper. Called Marion John. Mary Narvin called. Marion called (had quit her job).

Fri – Record cold (-7 degrees). Cars wouldn’t start. Stan drove Greg to McKeesport to get train to town (late). Cleaned house. Harry & Ivan home sick. Watched “Beauty & the Beast”. Dave came & got mail.

Sat – Warmer. Bill H. came. Took last load of rubbish out of shop. Went to store. Washed clothes. Called Marion. Went to K-Mart & got milk. Had steak dinner. Harry worked.

Sun – Read paper. Washed hair. Julie went to show. Went to Clairton flea market & Murphy Mart. Harry worked. Watched “Moneychangers” on TV.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Changed sheets. Bill H. came. Stayed for supper. Harry worked. Got cake from Benacks. Dave & Frank came. Washed clothes. Dave ate. Watched TV.

Tue – School. Sewed scarves. Called Gloria Goughnour. Went to store. Made chili. Bill H. came. Stayed for supper. Called Pat Cocuzzi.

Wed – School. Julie stayed for lunch. Went to McKeesport – signed up. Went to Eastland – shopped. Stan took stuff to Dave’s. Dave came for magazines. Watched TV.

1977

Fri – School. Washed hair. Cleaned house. Took Mrs. Iames to bank & store. Made quick supper. Dave worked & Harry worked. Worked on photo album.

Sat – Kids started to basketball practice. Flat tire – Pontiac. Couldn’t change it. Went to bank & store. Stan, Julie & I went shopping in evening. Got watches. Had gasket blew on Subaru. Mary called. Frank coming home.

Sun – Fixed soup & noodles. Bill & Carolyn came. Changed tire on Pontiac. Stan got hose for Subaru. Fixed it. Harry worked. Steelers 30 – Seattle 20. Watched “The Gathering”.

Mon – School. Rain. Called Marion. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped cellar. David got car inspected. Went to store. Harry brought girl friend here – we’d gone to bed.

Tue – School. Called Eleanor. Sewed Carol’s dress. Mended. Typed. Made pan cookies. Went to store. Buildt fire. Mary called & Bill H. called.

Wed – School. Very cold (7 degrees). Washed clothes & covers for couch, etc. Gathered wood. Made pork roast. Scrubbed chairs. Typed. Drove Greg to work & went to dairy.

Thu – School. Scrubbed couches. Put on clean covers. Went to store & H.S. for testing. Had lasagna. Called Mary.

1978

Sat – David here early. Took test at hospital. Marion called. Washed clothes. Took Julie & Karen ice skating. Stopped at milk store. Stan picked them up. (He had bad cold). Took Julie to Children’s Palace & Gold Circle.

Sun – Did papers with Ivan. Addressed Christmas cards. Julie & I went to Eastland. Watched game Steelers 13 –Houston 3. Dave stopped.

Mon – School. Called Marion. Washed clothes. Swept & mopped. Stamped X-mas cards. Bill H. stopped out. Harry called. Stan went bowling. Went to store – late. Buildt fire.

Tue – School. Mary called. Frank home sick. Made cake. Wrapped presents. Made lists for Christmas. Made stuffed shells. Julie brought friend home for supper. Stan & I went shopping for gift exchanges.

Wed – School. Stan home sick. Typed Ivan’s paper. Called Eleanor. Went to store & bank. Called Dave about Laura’s bed. Stan & I typed. Bill & Carolyn stopped. Her mother had heart attack.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Typed Ivan’s term paper. Made soup. Laura called – made arrangements about mattress. Called Carol. Stan types. Watched TV.

Fri – School. Rainy. Carol took stuff for going to slumber – birthday party. Baked cookies. Made chili. Carolyn & Bill brought Jesse (Cathy’s baby) & we babysat. Finished Greg’s afghan.
