October 2 - October 8, 1964-1968

1964

Fri – School. Cleaned kitchen & bath. Canned tomatoes. Eve. Gave all boys hair cut & head washings. Kids took baths.

Sat – Took Carol to get hair cut. Stan’s day off. Cleaned house. Dressed kids. All went into Mom’s. Stan went to get glasses. Drove Mary home. Stayed for supper. Home tired.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Washed clothes. Bill H. came out. Crocheted. Went to bed early.

Mon – School. Ironed & mended. Lunch & cleaned up. Went to store & bread store. Ivan jammed push buttons. Man brought bulldozer for work in back. Relaxed in eve. Eleanor called.

Tue – School. Man worked machine in back. Smoothed out slag. Brought fertilizer. Busy day. Sewed Frank pajamas. PTA meeting. Devotions. Movies on safety.

Wed – School. Dad came out. Burned rubbish and brush. Left early. Crocheted and knitted. Stan tried out new driveway.

Thu – No school. Teacher’s institute. Washed clothes. Drove Carol to JoEllen’s. She went to Deep Creek for weekend. Ironed clothes. Mended. Sewed red plaid shirt for Elaine.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Washed clothes. Pump didn’t work. Wrung by hand. Ironed. Kids got baths. Went to Dad’s for supper. Birthday dinner. Stan got Bill from work.

Sun – Went to SS. Cut out leaves for PTA. Stan worked on tile. Sorted clothes from Fuscaro. Watched TV.

Mon – School. Cold day. Turned furnace on. Cleaned house. Barbara Lauley stopped for leaves for PTA. Picked tomatoes & cabbage. Watched TV. Read. Got Bill from work.

Tue – School. Washed clothes. Drained water on floor (pump broke). Went to store. Baked cake. Went to PTA. Membership. Dr. Jack spoke. Poor attendance. Stan went to bookmobile and worked on abacus for Frank.

Wed – School. Hot lunch day. Ironed clothes. Baked cookies. Stan came home early. Took Plymouth to garage. Went to store. Deposited in bank.

Thu – No school. Teacher’s institute. Rainy day. Started Elaine’s winter cap. Elaine & I made pies. Went to McKeesport. Took storm windows to get fixed & impeller for washer. Went to TOPS. Last meeting. Went to Pleasant Hills.

Fri – No school. Knitted. Finished Elaine’s cap. Went to Haines for order. Stan went to see Mom. Watched TV. Got bath. Got Bill from work.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS. Stan took Carol, Dave, Frank & Jo Ellen to ballgame. Pirates lost. Carol lost autograph ball. Frank got lost. Sad day. Cleaned bedroom.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Folded & changed sheets. Stan went bowling. Went to store. Stan home early. Gave him haircut.

Tue – School. Bill didn’t go. Stan took plane trip to Sylvania plant. Ironed clothes. Baked cookies, cake & meat loaf. Stan took carburetor on Ford to get fixed. I went to Valley PTA. Had devotions.

Wed – School. Hot lunch day. Headache. Baked bread. Knitted & mended clothes. Went to store & got Elaine cotton. Elaine planted seeds for experiment. Carol got class ring.

Thu – School. Washed clothes. Hung outside. Damp. So hung some again inside. Ironed David’s gym shorts. Changed sheets. Gave Julie bath & took pictures.

Fri – School. Ironed & mended Put away. Made chocolate pie. Went down to school with Julie & Ivan. Went to bank & shopping. Got Elaine blouse. Dad called & he received birthday card.

Sat – Stan worked. Watch man put street light up. Cleaned house. Carol went to football game. (TJ 32 – Donora 6). Went to Haines. Carol went to Penny’s. Got new shirt.

1967

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Tried two new recipes. Folded & put away clothes. Stan went bowling. Went to store. Got clothes at Fashion Hosiery.

Tue – School. Ironed & put away. Got case of pop. Went to McKeesport to get clarinet. Cleaned out cupboards. Went to PTA meeting. Helped with membership. Dr. Shaffley spoke.

Wed – School. Frank home sick. Hot lunch day. Cleaned the cellar & burned rubbish. Made cookies. Watched World Series (St Louis 2 – Boston 1). Went to store. Stan put up shower rod & Elaine’s picture.

Thu – No school. Teachers institute. Harry sick now. Boys cleaned bedroom. Washed big wash. Hung outside then went to Laundromat. Elaine mopped cellar. Went to TOPS (0). Home early. Stan tired.

Fri – No school. Kids helped clean house. Rain. Picked up cake & ice cream & chairs. Carol went to football game Monesson 14 – TJ 9. Had Dad’s birthday party. All went well. Elaine big help.

Sat – Gave boy’s haircut. Washed heads. Went to store. Stan watched TV. Read magazines. Stan took Frank, Greg, Harry to Little League Banquet. Bobby H. stopped out. Carol went to Jane’s overnight.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS. Ivan sick. Stan & I stopped at Dad’s. Went on to Mom’s. Mary was there. Carol took Jane to Youth Sym. Wrote to Harold & Bill. Kids got baths.

1968

Wed – School. Washed clothes. Baked apple crisp. Read story. Stan worked on stones.

Thu – School. Sewed Elaine’s jacket, shirt & shorts. Stan went bowling. Watched TV and sewed. Rained and turned colder.

Fri – School. Went to bank & Grants. Finished Elaine’s jacket. Mrs. O., Carol, Jane & I went to football game. Cold. Elaine, Frank & Harry went too. (Clairton 18 – TJ 7)

Sat – Stan had to work. Cleaned the kitchen & bedroom. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Went shopping. Carol went to wedding. Stan & I went to see Dad & his Pap. Took Dad his birthday present.

Sun – Fixed spaghetti sauce & straightened up. Marion & Don came. Jane O came up. Had nice dinner & nice visit. Watched TV. Kids got baths.

Mon – School. Washed clothes. Swept cellar. Sewed & knitted. Stan went bowling. Stan & I went to Sibyl. Took ride for gas.

Tue – School. Ironed clothes. Went to store. Baked cake & rolls. Wrote Bill. Tired. Lay down & then went to store.
