June 26 - July 2 in 1964-1968

1964

Fri – Jane here. All went to shopping center. Bought Elaine & David shoes. Had chicken & fruit salad. Ironed. Went to church for Bible School program. Said good-bye to Ohrbergs. Had refreshments.

Sat – Slept late. Took Frank, Greg & Harry to ball game Pirates won 4-2 (Reds). Stopped at Eleanor’s & Betty. Looked at living room set. Watched TV. Baths.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS. Packed supper. We all took off for Yough Lake. Nice place but crowded with people. Home at 8:00 & had milk shakes. Watched TV.

Mon – Washed clothes. Bill & David cut grass. Baked roast beef & brownies. Made coleslaw. Stan took off early & went to Dr. Brogan. Picked berries & peaches. B & D picked cherries. Pitted cherries.

Tue – Hot day. Dad came. Took Carol & Gregory to dentist. Went to store. Went to PP clinic. Started pills. Baked cherry pies. David had ballgame – won 13-11. Stan got grey couch. Bill H. helped. Carol stayed at Jane’s.

Wed – Bill & Dave & Elaine picked cherries. I mended. Pitted cherries. 11 qts. Big job. Bill got badly burned fooling with gasoline. Stan took him to hospital. Went shopping. Made a scrape on my car door.

Thu – Washed clothes. Marts came to fix well. Rickey & David collected. Carol & Susey B. fixed pizza pie for supper. Went around to collect. Stan started to dig grease trap. Rev. Pease came.

1965

Sat – Dad came out. Left at lunch time. Went to bank. Paid mortgage, gas & phone. Mary Pavlack came out in afternoon. Worked on “Count the change” contest. Kids got baths.

Sun – Went to SS. Ivan & Elaine went too. Went to store. Bought watermelon. Went in to see Mom. Relaxed. Knitted Carol’s sweater. Elaine visited Peggy Kearns. Bill going to sleep out. Brought home by Mr. Budday.

Mon – Summer school. Washed clothes. Went to the store. Ironed & folded. Fixed corn on cob & wieners. Stan went to The Meadows. Finished Carol’s sweater.

Tue – Summer school. Hot day. Cut out sundress for myself. Bill missed out on SAT test. Gave boys hair cuts. Washed heads & kids got baths. Stan watered garden.

Wed – Summer school. Picked up Bill’s working permit. Took Bill to Dr. Stollar for exam. Went to shopping center. Dave & Frank played ball. Won 21-16.

Thu – Summer school. Washed clothes. Ironed, folded & mended. Baked cake. Went to TOPS meeting. Helen T. was queen (-3), Rita pig (+3)

Fri – Summer school. Kids helped & we cleaned house. Fixed up stairs sweeper. Took Bill to work. First day at Isalys. Went for him at 11:00. Didn’t get out until 12:15.

1966

Sun – Didn’t go to SS or church. Very hot. Lazy. Played cards. Watched TV. Had watermelon.

Mon – Washed clothes. Started to rain but a few drops. Ironed & mended. Folded & put away clothes.

Tue – Slept late. Went to Dr. Stan came too. Went to Eastland to look at refrigerators. Went to Olympia S. Center. Ordered Philco 2-door refrigerator. Rained.

Wed – Sent check to Internal Revenue. Stan worked in kitchen fir placing refrigerator. He & Carol went to Eastland to look for cabinets. Called Stella. Mom called. Gave Stan haircut.

Thu – Slept late. Tried to figure out kitchen cabinets to place refrigerator. Washed clothes, folded & ironed. Stan worked on ground wire & put overhead light on Ford. Went to TOPS (+3 ½) Stopped at store.

Fri – Up early. Washed hair. Baked cake. Men came with refrigerator. Took old one to cellar. Cleaned out food. Took Carol & Elaine swimming. Took Bill to Southeastern Guidance. Stopped at store. Hoed garden.

Sat – Cleaned kitchen. Stan worked upstairs. Went to meat store & Haines. Took Harry & Greg swimming. Watched TV.

1967

Mon – Up late. All got dressed. Took L>I> Train ($20.00) to New York. Went to Empire State Bldg. Beautiful view. Ate lunch out. Went to Shea Stadium (Mets 3 – Pirates 2). All came to our room for pizza.

Tue – Slept in. Went to Laundromat. Ironed. Took swim. Got dressed. Joe, Laura, Stan & I went to town. Carol babysat. Had dinner at Moores. Went to “Fiddler on the Roof”. Saw Times Square.

Wed – Finished packing. Met Mr. Wu and we all ate breakfast together. Stayed home. Carol drove from Philadelphia to home. Stopped at store. Called Dad & Mom. Dept 10:45. Arrive 9:00.

Thu – Stan went to work. Washed clothes. Washer went dead at end. Sorted clothes. Got Julie & Ivan from Grandpa’s. Marks’ arrived from Calif. Went to TOPS. Queen for month. Went to store.

Fri – Ironed clothes. Hydro-Nucleonies man came & put in electric receptacle. Took Elaine, Frank & Ivan swimming. Hoed & planted more corn. Sprayed trees. Relaxed & bathed kids.

Sat – Cleaned kitchen. Kids helped clean. Carol babysat. I went swimming with kids. Got sunburn. Carol & Jane went to cook-out. Took kids to drive-in “Russians are Coming” & “8 on the Lam”. Home at 2:10.

Sun – Didn’t go to SS. Slept till 9. Lazy day. Read paper, took nap. Stan & I went to store. Carol went to Jane’s and then to Susy’s.

1968

Wed – Took Ivan to Roosevelt for 1^st day pre-school. David & Frank worked on dirt. Washed clothes & ironed. Stan took Frank to ballgame (Orioles 3 – Parrots 2) Went to store. Dave showed movies. Finished Elaine’s sweater & started Ivan’s.

Thu – Ivan went to school. Baked cake. Made jello salad & iced tea. Took Harry to party at gun club. Frank went swimming. Knitted. Stan took boys to ball game. Harry pitched (1^st time) Jayhawks 6 – Hawks 3. Dave took movies. Worked outside.

Fri – Took Fr & Ivan to dentist. Dug ditch to extend pipe. Stan worked on pipe & finished wall on Iames side. Found marker.

Sat – Washed clothes. Went to store. Took kids swimming. Made doughnuts & cookies. Carol & Greg went to Siegels. Worked outside.

Sun – Stan had to work. Very hot (92 degrees). Moved dirt. Knitted & read paper. Called Mom. Fixed chicken. Watered garden. Played charades with kids. All got baths or showers.

Mon – Took Ivan to school. Washed clothes. Went to store. Took kids swimming. Very hot. Helped Mrs. Iames with cakes. Made macaroni salad. Stan took Frank to game (Orioles 7 – Hawks 5)

Tue – Ivan stayed home. Took kids swimming. Cleaned cellar. Stan took kids to ballgame (Jayhawks 13 – Orioles 5)
